I see a difficult season for Vanderbilt this season... The schedule is pretty hard this season with Virginia Tech, Alabama, Texas, LSU. Wins: Alcorn State, Georgia State, Ball State 50/50 games: Virginia Tech, Auburn, South Carolina Underdogs: Missouri, Alabama, Kentucky, Texas, LSU, Tennessee Have Vandy winning 3 or 4 games this season...
I really like their QB though in Pavia. 6-6 is going to be a grind though. They also miss out on playing some of the other lesser teams in the SEC (Mississippi State, Arkansas, Florida). The absolute ceiling for them imo is 6-6 with wins over Virginia Tech, Alcorn State, Georgia State, Ball State, Auburn, and South Carolina.
If Georgia State beats Vanderbilt, Clark Lea will be working somewhere else in 2025. It's even possible that if Vanderbilt is losing big heading into November, Lea could be out and Jerry Kill could be the interim head coach. You can't beat teams that can recruit every top 500 player every year when academic restrictions limit you to being able to recruit maybe 10-15 of those players, and 99% of those intelligent players are smart enough to realize that Vanderbilt produces an NFL star about once every 10-12 years. Alabama and Georgia sign more 4 and 5 star players every year than Vanderbilt has signed since the recruiting rankings were created, and Vanderbilt has never had a 5-star signee. Most of their 4-star signees transferred elsewhere. Vanderbilt's administration is more than happy to prostitute its inferior talent to the wolves 8 times a year to get the big conference welfare check on July 1st. It would not be a shock if the SEC one day decides to apply a sliding payment scale to the teams based on how much the teams contribute to the kitty. Then, maybe, this school will give up the ghost and drop scholarship athletics like the University of Chicago.
