I honestly think some of the mentality behind the ones that post it and then add edits defending themselves is they thought their ring would finally be the one that no one shamed, that they would beg for the hate and when none came they would ascend to whatever final form middle aged women take.

The company that made the Pikachu ring is Sapphire Studios and I have a Sailor Moon inspired ring from them. Their rings are TOP notch and I love that their sapphires look so much like a legit diamond that even my ring fooled a legit jewerler. 😭💗 Anyone who mocks them can catch these hands. 👍

They do legit diamonds as well, but even their low end rings are gorgeous.
For the lady with the rich husband who only spent 1/6 the budget. That looks like an opal for the main stone. If that's a real opal of that size, that ring must've been hella expensive.
I was thinking much the same, I used to sell Australian opals. Jewelry like that ain't cheap. That said, I prefer an opal with a lot more blue in it, that's just personal though. And I also think that opal is a bad choice for daily wear. I don't recommend a stone with a hardness level below 8 for engagement rings. Just being cautious.

As for the rings, there are some people who can’t afford extravagant rings. I am reminded of the overstock commercial where the fiancee is “that could be our first month’s rent.” I liked it because after seeing many hows where women get mad if the guy does not spend at least a three month salary on the ring, they leave.
I am one of those girls who feels she does not deserve an extravagant ring and rather save the money that he would spend on a nice ring for a house instead.
And there are some who would rather go simple instead.
