She's sitting there telling Yaya that her Blackness is "overbearing", meanwhile Tyra is sitting there with a massive afro on her head. Lol. Woo, I'm so proud of Yaya, her career has flourished.
@@deborah8056 but tyra is part of the industry and it was her show. She could have been part of the change. Not part of the problem. She didn't have to treat them like everyone else did. Look at Rihanna. She wasnt even part of the modeling world but she used her influence when she got into the beauty and fashion industry to create a whole new standard of acceptable beauty. Tyra would never bc she liked to bully the girls. She always complained about how shes too fat for the modeling world now, but she never once had a fat protegé. Shed make fun of the fat girls she brought on. She had a plus sized girl on and kept telling her to stop eating so much and had her do a photoshoot where she was dressed as a whale. This isnt what every fashion designer is like in the industry. Its what tyra is like
Анна Коваль when Yaya was screaming at the other girls ICANTHEARIMONTHEPHONE!!!!!! Her veins bulging, did you also lose your mind? @@RecoveringChristian yes, actually. Shitty behavior is shitty behavior. You can empathize with someone without glorifying them. And no matter how shitty someone is, nothing gives you a pass to be racist towards them or their culture. Chill out.
Lane at best, she was incredibly tone deaf and in a bubble, at worst she was a dumb bigot. There was no real inherent malice from that poorly dressed and styled woman. But this base will eat this 💩 up like red meat.
Shelter Two Naomi Campbell can be intimidating especially in her younger days as a fresh model. But Tyra always been a hypocrite I never been a big fan of hers.
Hurt people, hurt people. Just like Naomi didn’t remember when she treated Tyra wrong, I know Tyra has forgotten that she’s done the same, that was done to her. I had to come to terms with the fact that I bullied a girl when I was in the 4th grade. I didn’t beat her up, but I believe I hit her, but I rightfully got punished for it. So Tyra has to own it, as we ALL need to do.
I didn't really recognize her without her gap. She looked so different without it. TB needs to be dragged for miles. I stopped watching the show long before it was over. The drama she and her staff created was unnecessary.

Tyra's a bully in "Everyone bullied me and I don't want you to experience that" clothing. I remember thinking some much of this was ridiculous when it first aired, glad to see we're calling it out now.
Exactly, that was disgusting!! That's why these little black girls are out here with so much self hate. Hating their naturally curly hair and wanting straight hair like Carol. Did yall see that video?!?!? Smh
Yup. Chelsey from Cycle 15 but as far as I know, Chelsey regretted allowing antm to widen her gap but she also fears being eliminated if she did not allow them to do that

Inconvenient facts I'm sure. Watch Jay's stream on this incident. Or not, cause hey, who are we kidding, none of you will. Heck, you lot won't even watch Tiffany's post show comments on it either.
@RecoveringChristian huh? Jay is just as problematic as Tyra. In his live he blamed the whole situation on Tyra. Not to mention telling Tiffany to go sleep in the floor with her baby.. not cool
So ironical of her to judge the girl who did modelling for playboy when she is the one who pressures the girls to get pictured in explicit shoots and also overly intimate shots 🙄

I was offended on several occasions where Tyra suggested black women get their heads shaved by people that did not specialize in black hair. The haircuts were awful and she should have known better.
Right! She didn't have qualified professionals that dealt with different hair types. Them short cuts and curly cuts look horrible even the weaves. As a woman of color, she needs to get it together.
Also she messed up some of the other girl's hair as well. I remember she had a white girl get a full weave and a few episodes later the girl's skin was lifting off along the tracks
Also most of the people who did their hair probably didn’t even know how to treat their natural hair which is sad because a lot of big name brand beauty school tend to just teach European hair styles that just include white folks hair, I really got upset as someone who studied all types of hair textures and curl patterns. They needed a better hair team
Why is nobody talking about how they made one of the white girls (Chelsey season 15) widen her gap because it would make her stand out/more marketable, but they told a black girl get rid of it because it’s not marketable?
People have said she did it out of insecurity that they could upstage her if they became models in real life. Exploiting them on TV and getting them blacklisted was her way of *staying on top*
@@yippedoodah right she treated the black women so disgusting. She even treated the white women like shit as well but she treated the black women WAY WORSE. Its so disgusting smfh
How old are you guys... Because when I was growing up, people would tell you the truth... The way I see it, she was doing them a favor... She was preparing them for the tough modeling world, especially for a black woman...
I feel like Tyra was intimidated by these women. Notice how she was constantly putting down people of color?? Cutting their hair off?? Taking away the things that make them unique?? Ew.
she cut everyone's hair, and she also left many of them-their hair alone, some she added more length. This is not even realistic what you are saying. Many of the girls wanted a new look. Many of them had bad home hair processes done, bad weaves, glued on wigs etc
She's a Scorpio rising. It happens to us all the time. Parents dying, growing up without parents, alone, foster homes, etc. Princess Nokia is one too and her mom died and she grew up in foster homes.
@@stanley71399 please tell me exactly when you mean when you essentially say it's normal for kids to grow up with their parents dying and having to go into foster care, and don't use some fake pseudoscience to try and say she's wrong for being upset
The Gap would have made her standout and memorable. Like I thought models were meant to be interesting looking. Also Mick Jagger's daughter has a gap in her teeth and she's been modelling for ages Also didn't Tyra in one of the latest seasons, give a girl a gap by shaving her teeth?!
EXACTLY. Also that’s how I remember Slick, because of her gap: it’s a beautiful feature that shouldn’t be messed with (unless if the person who has it really wants to for themselves). It’s one of those features that isn’t seen often that makes you think even more about certain models who do have it.
Just a thought. I think when I was younger I saw all these women as adults, but the truth is, a lot of them are teenagers. I feel for those girls being so far way from home and then to be told , Your not pretty enough even though you've already made it into the competition. The whiplash and for what so Tyra can prove she can't be replaced because she actively sabotages every other young black model
Even if they really felt that the gap would make it harder for her to get jobs, the way they talk about it is horrible. If they had just mentioned that it might hinder her, I think it could have been a productive conversation.
I stopped watching the show because I noticed how if they were not able to break a girl, they would drag them and eventually eliminate them. I don't think Tyra ever had intentions to put any of those girls on in the industry. She was probably scared they'd be a bigger success than she was.
naomi and tyra are equally problematic. naomi has been very classist towards her staff, so she's no angel either. both of them deserve to be called out.

Yes she was admiring and jealous of Naomi at the same time. She was stalking Naomi and wanted to be her best friend but Naomi ignored her. Tyra was a big Naomi fan.
The white woman telling Yaya about her “Africaness.” 🙄🙄🙄 Looking back in these clips, just wow. Tyra was a mess. Girls really looked up to her and she used them for ratings. The girl that told her foster care story..... Tyra wasn’t shit for that. Props to Ashley Graham for sticking up for her.
What's funny is Tyra was rocking a afro when that white women said that, so that totally contradicts the situation. She see's Tyra doing it but yet she can't?! What a joke!
Gillian Robinson - I was going to say the same thing. She had the nerve to talk about, boo-hoo over what she claims Naomi Campbell did to her while she did worse to many more.
Ngl I feel like Naomi really didn’t “bully her” like she proclaims. I didn’t realize how toxic ANTM was until I went back as a adult and peeped the bullshit. Even that challenge where they changed the girls ethnicities! Chile........smh
I feel that too, I bet you this bitch thought she was it (lighter eyes), lighter skin. She probably thought she could Kiki with the fucking trinity. Of course Miss Campbell was not going to allow that.
Kami7 Nah Lol, Naomi really be a bully her. But Tyra never got therapy for her pain. So basically what she ended up doing was, repeating what Naomi did to her to the girls. What’s crazy is that, she admitted this in a interview once. But it was about her brother. She said her brother used to bully her when she was a child, so by the time she got to school, she became a bully because she needed an “outlet”.
Nah I think Naomi did bully Tyra. Look, the thing with internalised racism is that if Naomi was the only black girl in the whole fashion industry around for a while, you do get threatened when there is another black face. And unfortunately I think this is this internalised racism that led to Tyra not talking back to that white judge criticising Yaya. I think Tyra can be empathised with there, it was 2005
I've said several times if this show was on today, Tyra would get dragged for a lot of things she did back then. In 2020 that Tiffany and Yaya situation would have her dead on social media.
I stopped watching antm cycle 7 when they eliminated anchal Joseph. Tyra is full of bs and her nice personality is fake. She is mean in real-life. I call Tyra a butt kisser for the modeling industry.
you just need that blackface bs and she would be finished. I don't understand how celebrities are getting cancelled over old twits and tyra is here with a whole folder of buffoonery and shes still going strong.
It’s weird how Tyra constantly expressed that she wanted to knock down the beauty standards for inclusivity but at the same time was telling these women their gap is too wide, their foreheads are too small, they have hyperpigmentation, etc.
Narcissists just look for a sense of superiority wherever they can. It's a disorder. It's called 'narcissistic supply'. If insulting a homophobe makes them feel good, they do it. If insulting a homosexual makes them feel good, (even though that makes them a homophobe) they don't care. They do it. They demean the rich for being 'greedy' and the poor for being dirty. They will bully pretty girls for being too pretty and having 'unattainable standards' like the vain queen from Snow White, and they will bully ugly girls for being ugly like in the ugly duckling. It's called shifting the goal post. It's abuse.
It's weird bc you're judging it through a 2020 lense lol. It's gradients. 24 cycles didnt just happen all last week. It's been 2 DECADES. Cycle 1, began advocating for black and plus size girls. First black winner cycle 3 first plus size winner cycle 10. Advocates for weirdos unconventional beauty. Cycle 3 and 12 advocates for physical impairments/deformities, visually impaired and burn/scarred models. Cycle 2 -13 advocates for short girls. It was dependent on the culture at the time and the barometer for what was en vogue. These were the inroads made so that people like you could enjoy the body positive movement you take for granted today.
Tyra's point is nuanced. On her talk show, she was talking about the toxicity that the media had around her weight, which was by no means overweight and the negative unrealistic messages sent to women outside of media. Contrasting with ANTM, where she was being honest about the expectations of a new model entering the industry and not really talking about regular women's bodies. That is, it is harder to make it if you're not within the expected measurements (this may be changing perhaps but is still relatively true). It is different for Tyra, who gained her weight as an established/popular model so she had more say over what weight/measurements could be like while still getting work. Tyra still had difficulty getting jobs and this is one of the reasons she stopped getting high fashion work and started to do more commercial work. Tyra was just being honest about what is expected of a working model.
Demelio, her point was coming from someone who fat shamed a girl on ANTM and then made her be an elephant in a animal themed shoot. Tyra also said “no ones going to photoshop you as much as we did” to that same girl after fat shaming her. Mind you, this girl was a normal size, maybe smaller than normal because she was on ANTM
@Josephine Bournes Exactly! I was thinking of her the whole time watching this. Even Madonna was praised for keeping her gap. Yet, let a black woman embrace her own and it's a problem. 😡

She also ridiculed a model who claimed she was being sexually harassed by another male model and made her continue the shoot. Tyra also would use many models insecurities against them. @@angelabell8725 I've been watching some of the recent interviews from the models. Fo and Amina (from season 12, I think) recalled that Natalie went HAM on Tyra and the judges for over 5 minutes right after her elimination. She supposedly cussed them out and told them none of the shoots were helpful. Fo said that even though most of the girls found Natalie annoying during the season, she did them proud by expressing EVERYTHING they felt about what's wrong with Tyra and the competition. Natalie went down the line and told each judge about themselves, lol. She told Nigel he was a low buget photographer and called Jay a clown for wearing an expanding bow after each elimination. I was laughing so hard listening to this story because I remember everything they were referring to! But I most love that she apparently screamed, "When am I ever gonna get a job where I need to be ORANGE as an emotion!" So true - although that was one of my fav shoots in ANTM. It was clear that Tyra was not training the girls for real but just putting on a show for entertainment and drama. Tyra and the judges were reportedly speechless. Natalie was one of my least favorites of that season, but now I'm putting mad respect on her name, lol.

@@_alycia I agree with you that the industry can be like what you said, however I don't believe that is why Tyra was doing all that. All of these incidents and critics just come off as pathetic and insecure instead of helpful.
Tyra didn’t kick off any careers, she set them up all to fail. A person who used to model spoke about this and how almost none of the challenges on ANTM taught the models nothing.
ANTM was like high school. You learned some basic stuff, but you can't leave high school with made up awards like Miss Congeniality and expect to get a fifty thousand dollar a year job.
I remember seeing a former ANTM girl say she lost out because of it when she would go to auditions and they would see ANTM on her resume they would specifically say that they couldn’t work with her because of her being on that show. Really sad people didn’t know what they were really getting into.
EXACTLY! And when another model attacked another model's look, Naomi cursed them tf out. I remember she went off on a White model saying that a black model's skin tone won't get them jobs
They told Danielle to close her gap, then turned around and had another girl have a gap made BIGGER by shaving down her front teeth a few seasons later. Make it make sense, Tyra.
That'd be great. The crazy white people shows are fun but we need diversity in that department. Now we can watch Tyra's nutjob ass pulling these stunts.
😂😂 yess. So TRUE. Ellen has had 4 scandals. The veil is being lifted. Especially with them asking US for money for coronavirus. And these billionaires forcing people to work in unsafe conditions with low wages. Tides aturnin 🌊
Tyra knows how to play the victim, but she is a bully herself. That’s why I’m team Naomi all the way! Naomi teaches the girls to be models, Tyra judges the girls.
And it artificial. They didn’t want a proud African or a natural woman, but they would take the white gurl and put African features on her and call it exotic.
It’s almost remarkable how many double standards Tyra had for the dark skinned girls. Like you can make the case that she was preparing them for the real modelling world, which is racist, sure, but wouldn’t it be better to build them up more than breaking them down to call it a “thicker skin”?
Sae LaVerdad Yaya was not demeaned for her natural hair so just stop. Her attitude was stink and she thought she was better than everybody else because she had a little bit of education. Yaya also disrespected the designers clothing saying it was a fake imitation of kente. If ya ya wanted to rock real kente and was so woke she would have never been on ANTM in the first place because the modelling industry is not exactly pro black so she needed some humble pie. She didn’t travel to Africa to become the top model there did she? I wonder why 🤔 just as bad as the rest of the models and Tyra humbled her quicktime
I feel bad for the girl that had the hair problem. I couldn't imagine having to show something that makes cry all the time and be made fun of before that
She wasn't even made fun, she was Intentionally insulted, belittled and treated badly to cause her to break down. I am surprised at no point nobody tried to strangle Tyra.
Let's be real though, Tyra was never about empowering women with ANTM, she was about making an entire show about her lol. I've never seen someone use so many opportunities to display their face during each episode. The entire intro is Tyra modeling in between all of the contestants 🤦♀️

What confuses me is, on cycle 15 a white woman named Chelsea had her gap WIDENED to be more, “high fashion”. So her making Dani close her gap is literal BS.
Woah thats messed up. But also we must understand that cycle 15 was a whole decade later. New generations have surfaced. And what was the standard of beauty back then its not what is it now. People had a free pass to say and do things without thinking of the consequences. I think that America Next Top Model has success birthed from what was popular around that industry at that time, like many reality TV shows back then and now. If that clown of judge said the thing she did to Yaya today I am sure she would be begging for mercy. Needless to say what Tyra Banks did to these girls is messed up. And we must remember the steps we walk in because it may come back to haunts us in the future.
It’s awful because in a later season, there’s a model that has a gap that Tyra loved. She wanted her to keep the gap and express herself with it, yet she told Dani to get rid of hers
What’s funny being super pretty in this modern society now 2010ish just being pretty and thin wont make you successful in the modeling industry.. @@moniquepope5925 you LITERALLY said tyra was bullied by naomi and talked about how mean she was to her on her talk show. all i'm saying is don't fall for it cause tyra was playing victim on her show
Tyra being bullied was apparently karma because I remember her saying in a interview that she used bully girls when she was in middle school because her brother and other kids would tease her about being so tall and skinny. So she turned and did it to them only for her to end getting bullied again. But I feel for her on an industry level. To grow up and be teased for being skinny but make it as a model and they tell her she needs to lose weight is difficult.
I wouldn’t exactly agree on undertones, but seemed a full on racist remark to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if they purposely had her say that to add more drama (idk enough about the judge/woman who said that or the behind the scenes/scripting/ editing of the show to say this as fact) either way, it was completely fuct up to say in my opinion✌🏼 if they were truly concerned about her being marketable to a wider audience as a model, and felt it was hindering her being versatile she/they could’ve phrased it in a better/non racist, constructive way. She is a beautiful person and model who did not deserve to be treated that way, same goes for the model with the gap and others. Their uniqueness is something that helps them standout and adds to their beauty/marketability imo. Maybe some ‘veteran models’ are jealous that they had to change and conform to make it in the industry. Tyra should be helping models embrace their natural and unique beauty, and encourage and help them to showcase that, as well as help them find jobs that will appreciate and embrace that. Hopefully future modeling shows will do more to help make modeling more inclusive and embrace natural beauty of all kinds, a game changer to the industry (I know this is being done to a certain extent on some shows, I just feel Tyra and others had/have the opportunity to do better and make an impactful change, rather than put these models through hardships they’ve said to have faced and been broken down over) *ive heard many model scouts say they look for people who stand out and have unique looks, rather than choosing ppl who all look alike (which I understand when selling clothes, different designers cast different types for different shows, I just mean in general) I’m glad at least that the industry has come a long way, with more diverse models than in the past, however it still has a long way to go✌🏼🖤
Can you imagine Naomi sitting quietly on her own show, while a white judge criticises another black woman for being "too African"??? Nope. Naomi doesn't tolerate BS.
We already knew Naomi was right. They pitted those two against each other and Tyra let it all get to her so she came out messier. Tyra perpetuated the mean cycles of the industry, Naomi wasn't interested in it. Naomi comes out looking better with history.
She ghosted Adrianne Curry, the 1st season winner when Adrianne asked for help with her agency and her prize money. Tyra never gave a damn about these girls and treated black girls a lot worse.
Tyra only picked on ppl who looked better then her , who spirit was higher then hers n who had health issues , them white ppl she didn't do that two because she swears she white her damn self
it’s funny how she does this now because in season 19 there was a white girl with a gap and tyra and the other judges literally told this girl her gap was high fashion. i noticed tyra seems to treat black girl and girls of colors with disrespect and tyra uses her race to get away with treating girls like this and when confronted about she uses her race to try to get away with it and use it as an excuse.
I've never wanted to drag a person as much as I wanna drag that judge who told Yaya she's trying to prove her Africaness . TF, that always made me cringe so hard
I hate the other judge Janice Dickinson who makes weird expressions while the other judge who was trying to explain to Yaya. . . There's another episode where she comments on another Black model. That was revolting.. . . But turns out she was on drygs then. She's sober now. . And much nicer ?
"You can't be a model with a gap in your teeth" *1973, Lauren Hutton signs a modeling contract and becomes the famous model with a gap in her teeth.* You were saying Tyra? Other women like Uzo Aduba and Gladys Horton never let people change how they naturally are by genetics and they both ended up successful and seen as beautiful.
Most of these poor women couldn’t even get jobs after this. This didn’t boost careers. Tyra sucks. She had the opportunity to boost these ladies up and she tore them down. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen a full episode so I can’t say for sure, but why does it appear she is giving the women of color a much harder time? (P.S. Ya Ya is gorgeous. She could pull of anything.)
@Diamon. As that is your prerogative, tf, we both have opinions. Humble yourself on Al Gore's internet, LOL. I literally said "I see what your saying." I love them both Naomi way more after Tyra showed her true colors.

So true. White models didn't have to shave their heads like the black contestants

EXACTLY. Also that’s how I remember Slick, because of her gap: it’s a beautiful feature that shouldn’t be messed with (unless if the person who has it really wants to for themselves). It’s one of those features that isn’t seen often that makes you think even more about certain models who do have it.

She contradicts herself
But she was mad asf when people was calling her fat that time and she addressed it on her talk show🤔
Almond kissed I remember that the shoe was on the other foot 🦶
Exactly

Tyra pissed me off back in the day when she demeaned YaYa for her natural hair. And now there's a white model who has a gap twice that big.
Sae LaVerdad slick woods has one to
And it artificial.

Naomi didn’t bully her...
Whew the racist undertones of that woman being attacked for being embracing her African heritage.
Iain Tiffin I was young when that aired and remember knowing that was not how you speak to someone or ever make them feel bad for such a thing.
you mean overtones?
