You're correct-here we have the most underrated guitarist/vocalist in rock history who was offered the Ozzy job, the Whitesnake gig AND the opportunity to replace DLR in Van Halen. He declined them all because he's his own man. This guy is a fuggin monster.
he's joined the ranks of the "legends" now. that killer, amazing Voice of his. christ. it's like 25 years later, "since the day" and.........he hasn't lost anything. he sounds EXACTLY the same, as if it's STILL '86. unreal. yup. that's how you think of him now. Stood the test of time, and is a Rock Hero. one of the classic's.
Yeah..Both of Dave's albums(On The Blue Side and Meniketti) were just as great as the other. "I Remember","Storm","Lay Me Down" and "Messin' With Mr. Big" were my favorites on this album.
Dave is just a fantastic guitarist/singer/songwriter. I was such a HUGE Y&T fan back in the 80s, and have recently again become a HUGE FAN of Dave and Y&T.
Fuck yeah! He is truly the most underrated guitarist of the past three decades, as is Y & T. It was an honor to watch him live, just a week ago, and to meet him and shake his hand. What a fucking monster!!!
Great song! Dave Meniketti is among the most under-appreciated Guitar/Vocal performers in Rock. As a musician, I understand how demanding it is to perform both simultaneously. As for the song itself, the lyrics remind me of a certain girl from an ongoing "flirtationship" with a history of 20+ years of mutual attraction complicated by mutual tendency toward hesitation. We always seem to reconnect at the worst possible times, usually just after messy breakups with others. She knows who she is. ;-)
I remember seeing Yesterday & Today way back at The Starwood Club in Hollywood one night in late 1978 just after the Struck Down album came out. I was 19 then. I'm 60 now. Y & T just kicked every band's ass in town that night ! The Starwood (1973 - 1981) was located on Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood, just off the corner of La Cienega Blvd., of which that stretch starting in Hollywood was the last extension of old Route 66 that goes all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
I used to go and see Yesterday & Today at the Starwood in the 70's! They were so damn good. Leonard Haze was one of the best drummers I've ever heard. And Dave, well this video speaks for itself!
dude Y&T was one of the premiere muscian's musicians bands.. I totally remeber seeing them and the vibe was full of guitar geeks!!! ELITISTS... lol rock on!!
Interesting comments. This songs was released on his solo album entitled "Meniketti". Which was released in 2002. The song is not about a girlfriend or lover. Dave has been married for many years. This song is in dedication to his mother who lost her fight with cancer many years ago. As stated before, Dave was never offered to join Van Halen and that's from his mouth not mine.
Actually thats not true. If you ask Dave himself he will tell you that this never happened. BUT, he was offered to join Ozzys band after Randy passed away. And without a regret, he declined.
Dave Meniketti debería ser una estrella mundial.
Dave is awesome
First time I saw them live in 85 didn't know who they were opening for Motley Crue and they kicked Motley's ass been a fan ever since
Love his voice and guitar tone!
Very underated...

Yeah..Both of Dave's albums(On The Blue Side and Meniketti) were just as great as the other. "I Remember","Storm","Lay Me Down" and "Messin' With Mr. Big" were my favorites on this album.
I grew up in the bay area in high school we covered Yesterday and today ..25 hours a day beautiful dreamer
