I am certain I have the dumbest cockatiel alive. I don't think he came from a true breeder. When I picked him up, he was hand tamed. I carried him all over her aviary. Brought him home and gave him several days to get used to his surroundings. There is nothing threatening around him. Now, he absolutely will not allow me to pick him up, I have bite marks all over my fingers. I sit and talk to him everyday. We watching training videos together and everything. To be honest, I'm really angry with the "breeder". When I contact her, she just says to keep working with him. It's been almost 4 months!!
I got mine hand trained from a bird shop (not a bad one, they treat the birds well.) He is about 5 months old and he is very cute lol. He is very cute and lovely if not a bit sleepy. On the other hand I've got a 1 and a half year old ringneck ( I got him at 6 months) from another shop without him being trained. It's been 1 year and the little idiot still doesn't let me touch him. I still love him tho lol.
hkingx1 I’ve gotten mine on March 10th, completely wild (not hand trained or anything), and the previous owner never gave him the proper care. I’ve trained my pet companions my entire life with cockatiels, it’s just gonna take a lot of time and patience. I can get mine to one on me and sometimes climb on my shoulders, but he still doesn’t completely trust me 100%. That’s gonna take a lot of time. Yours is probably depressed and lonely because he’s not around the other birds. Just spend lots of time with him. He’ll come around. The results will be rewarding, I promise you.
hkingx1 in some cases it’s taken 9-12 months to get cockatiels tame, it’s most likely nothing your doing, it might be a bit tough on him tho getting used to everything xx

The breeder i bye my birds from does dna testing and then she just tells you the gender and gives you a certificate that says the gender
