I've got 11 earring albums from my early days. I play them to people who only know radar love and they get blown away how good they are. Proud to be an earring fan
To The Hilt, my favorite Golden Earring album. So much quality subliminal music packed into every tune. Some of the best headphone music you'll ever find. You have to listen deep to pick up on all that's there. But then, as the old adage goes-"something worked for means more than anything given". Certainly true when it comes to Golden Earring music.
I have listening to Golden Earring, since I started my first job back in East Manchester, uk In 1972, this Dutch group, are one of the best in the history of modern music, they are original and have in my opinion one of the best guitarists that has ever performed ! I saw them back in 2017 in West Frezland, in the North of Holland, at the Dicky Woodstock outside music festivals! They were out of this world, even as an live band, they are shit hot, the best I have seen anywhere on the planet !
heres the thing for me...when i first got this, i hated it...listened to it a couple times and put it away for a year or so... and then i went back and listened again. holy crap it was the greatest thing id ever heard. so i guess i had to out grow Kiss and some other stuff...best of all, it's better now than it was then-
I bought it when it first came out and really didn't like it, but the more I listened to it, the better it sounded. I especially like it with headphones at maximum volume. Violins is a great song
Superb! Moontan was their best album imo, but I always loved To The Hilt. Still have many of GE's vinyl albums including this one, sensational band. Many thanks for this.
THINK ABOUT THE FOLK THAT NEVER HEARD GOLDEN EARRING TILL TWILIGHT ZONE CAME OUT. HAD SOME KID TELL THEY WERE NEW THAT IF THEY HAD MADE STUFF BEFORE TWILIGHT ZONE HE WOULD KNOWN.
I have been a GE fan since I was 12 years old. They played at my school in Switzerland in the late 60s. I had broken my toe ....so...guess what did not happen!
Billy .S ......if you were addressing me, oh yes, I think so. What I find particularly incredible is their amazing lyrics. I love “lyrics” and although English isn’t even the mother-tongue for these guys, their songwriting is superb, very clever. I’m always a little bemused at folks who deem this band “One-Hit-Wonders”, they were so much more.
Love\Hate for this song. I like Babylon more. A song left off this album, would’ve made this album almost perfect. Violens is another one didn’t care much for. Everything in between on this Album is pure perfection.
Immer wieder entdecke ich neue, coole Musik von Golden Earring
This track is a gem. Their catalogue is littered with wonderful tunes across their whole career. Fantastic band.

SAME HERE. I THINK RADAR LOVE HURT THEM.
VANILLA QUEEN IS SUCH A COOL SONG.
GLENN CAMPBELL LIKE THE GUY FROM THE MISUNDERSTOOD?

And one of THE best bass players, surely...
Rinus Gerritson (or Marinus-as on the 1st Eight Miles High album) an outstanding bass player, adds layers on the bottom end. A true foundation guy.
This song and album is great. Pure musicianship. The same on contraband with Eelco. But this is much more adventurous
Loved them over 40 years. To The Hilt is their peak.
Lo escuché en "Radio Miraflores" - Lima ( Perú ) en el programa de "Dante Capella" en 1977
César is a superb drummer
I saw them open for the Doobies in ‘73.
He leaped over his drums at the end of the set..and he was thunderous, had a great foot.
here thats a great album
after all these years...it remains a great album
I am sitting here at 6:22 listen on my phone...because I had this tune as an ear worm from 42 years ago...so good, so unique...

@@lindadoteBarry Hays first language is English. He wrote many of the lyrics for the Earring.
Ik hoop nog steeds dat Robert Jan Stips terug komt bij de Earring voor een nieuwe plaat. Ze haalden echt het beste in elkaar naar boven.
mee eens :-)
Eeuwig jammer dat het niet is gebeurd. Met z'n Nits.
These mothereffers have swagger n balls..,,
Jo... que buenos eran
Nice 👍

Don't call us babe, we'll call you. ;-) Nevertheless: a good song on one of the best Earring albums of the lot.
This song crying for a guitar solo, great lyrics but they could've done it better it bores after a while.
the only bad song on the album, pretty much because of the backing vocals
Youre wrong buddy. Amazing backing vocals
