Fred M’membe is very inspiring. It would be great if the socialist won. M’membe is one of the voices of real socialism, the real word of socialism.
I loved watching the contrast of the two cultures and the rythym of speaking. The fast talking American, seemingly impatient and ready to cut in. The methodical and mesmerizing beat of Africa. Considering each thought so as to be precise and careful. It draws the listener in, with time we can learn to wait.

      He will not win.
The race is between the incumbent president (the worst sociopathic president thus far) and the largest opposition UPND.
Fred M'membe used to have the most widely distributed newspaper. He is very well known. However he needs time to position himself as the alternative.
He is actually married to the former UPND (largest opposition) founder and leader Anderson Mazoka's daughter.
Whether he can walk the walk remains to be seen.
He used to live large driving fancy cars back in 2010 when I lived in Lusaka.

This is great news that there are revolutionary forces in Zambia. I agree with everything that has been said. Africa's problem today is directly linked to 400 + years of imperialism. Before we judge the Chinese we need to ensure we are getting the truth. The imperialist forces are putting out lies about china. Imperialist forces don't like what is happening with China in Africa because the Chinese are dealing with Africa on equal terms.
Imperialism don't want capitalism to go. Capitalism and Imperialism is no good for Africa.

Nato promotes survival of the economically fittest where the 'loosers' are simply casualties (underachievers). However, the World desperately needs some kind of 'reinvented definition' for socio-cultural framework (ie: humanism) with global coordination and collaboration (ie: universalism). he said he would not nationalize the mining industry since the government do not have capacity to run them yet. He would try to tax them more instead. his priorities are on farming and education. To be honest, countries with weak farming industry would be greatly influenced by the global market and would be more vulnerable to outside influence. In addition, a poor education system would inevitably led to a weak government bureaucracy. He stressed the goal of eventually having all key industries socialized. In my opinion, even with the government capable of running these industry, nationalization policies can only really be implemented when the party has the support of the army. I doubt a new political party such as his would have any support from the country's army.

@@irisryu6437 unlike in many African countries, our Zambian military is highly prefessional and non-partisan. We have changed governmemt 5 times and the Zambian Defense Forces have submitted to the new government each time. We hae never had the challenge of a new government facing resistance from the armed forces, so we have no reason to believe that our military will be a problem once the Socialist party wins the elections.

He said there's no point to nationalise the existing mines bcos they don't have the expertise to run it and the lifespans of the exploited mines are only 8-40yrs left, so tax them more fairly to increase the gov income, then the gov will still have the say of the remaining 2/3rd of the unexploited mines. He is wise to say that and minimising the no. of his enemies.

I don’t want something all stressful to listen to because it’s very fast. I like relaxed talks. Goodness knows most people are already experiencing high stress.
I want a summary of the knowledge so I can get more done in my life (e.g. so I can listen to all of the videos I want to listen to), not lots of padding with words not needed to prove the points made. (I used to do that to get the word count up in high school essays to meet arbitrary word count requirements - let’s not do it in professional journalism.)
People can make both short summary videos for a wider audience and also longer videos for the smaller number of people who want a more in-depth coverage of an issue. It’s not rocket science. It’s a basic understanding of how to make media more successful.

A good compromise would be that they could keep the length or shorten it a bit and others moreso AND timestamp. No offence to Zambia, but most people are not aware on what's going on there including myself. The more the info the better in this video. So it depends on the content itself.

This broadcast segment raises some controversies. I wanted to get a different perspective. So, I sent it to two friends. One of whom follows Zambian politics. The other lives in Zambia. The first friend responded right away. She spoke only four words, “The Chinese Got Him”.
From my side, I don’t see any socialist candidate. I see a capitalist who is merely seeking to install himself in national politics. That is all. He stands in direct opposition to nationalization of the only resource that the nation has to take itself out of poverty. This is important because Chinese interests are literally raping the nation of copper, while materially increasing the country’s debt obligation. These things are what has really caused the nation to become impoverished. For him to not stand in opposition to such is traitorous.

That friend of yours you asked is either misinformed or a sympathizer of Zambia's biggest capitalist party which is anti-china but very pro-western.
The Socialist party of Zambia has clearly explained in it's manifesto why they have no immediate plans to nationalize the mines. Mines in Zambia were nationalized before in the 1970s, govt failed to run them because it had no capacity. We have to learn from our past mistakes. The immediate priority of the Zambian socialist party is Agriculture which has the capacity to grow our economy within a short period of time and is more reliable than mining which depends on the copper prices at international markets.
As we grow our Agriculture, will progressively invest in other important sectors especialy health and education, while building our mining capacity and eventually nationalize them. Besides 70% of Zambia's mining potential hasn't even been explored.
