In the Titanite Demon’s hands, it deals physical damage and shoots lightning. In our hands, it deals a split of physical and magical damage. Also, it upgrades with Twinkling Titanite instead of Demon Titanite. This thing’s funny.
I have like 3 of those things in my inventory because I was farming demon titanite to fully upgrade every boss weapon. I'm going for the platinum trophy so I wanted every boss weapon to be maxed
The weapon itself is pretty neat, as it has high base damage split between magic and physical. makes it good for mostly everything. I run this weapon with the dragonslayer's spear and the Great Scythe. I usually got this weapon early because I pop 10 humanities on my way to Andre. Then with that humanity, I go to blighttown for Mildred and kindling the bonfires. The enemies on my way there drop titanite shards, large titanite shards, and green titanite. Then I sacrifice most of my humanity to Quelana for the shortcut. Should also mention that I do catacombs before undead burg for the drops, rite of kindling, and some weapons. Afterwards, I go through the burg to get the elevator that I can take to Northern Asylum revisit. Getting the Catch Poll isn't necessary, but it makes the early game much easier for things with physical immunity.
i wanted to get everything for the achievement but i got dropped most items when i asked for only one cuz i accidentally made 2 moonlight butterfly spears
The weapon is based on a mancatcher, a polearm made to take down riders from their horses, later used for violent criminals, by triggering the hinges to open up and grab the head. But this one is based on Japan's version of the mancatcher, which is used by law enforcement to pin down limbs against the floor or walls. Real missed opportunity not giving Titanite Demons a grab attack.
@@spook4ms Yes, turns out I was wrong on that. And from Googling the sentiment is echoed; "Since when does the Titanite Demon have a grab attack" being one of the first results.
I think this one is considered the most obscure because it drops from a non respawning enemy ( until wayyyy later in the game ) and the drop chance is very very low. The drop chance is very low as well from the boulder guys, but they always respawn, and are places quite early into the game, where going to Quelaag’s domain grants you a lot of chances to kill them and getting it. However, on that argument, I’d say the Channeler’s staff is as rare or maybe only slightly lower, as you can only get respawning ones in the archives, a big chunk of the way into the endgame. But I definitely agree with you on the pickaxe, I learned about it maybe only 1 or 2 years ago, and I’ve been playing for way longer.
@anthonyst-onge Yeah, fair enough. Statistically, the Titanite Catch Pole is probably the hardest one to acquire out of all three. Fair point on the Channeler Trident too, but I think it gets brownie noticeability points for being used by a humanoid enemy. More importantly, the meme value raises it's fame and awareness massively too. Therefore, I think the pickaxe is the most obscure because it's not like people WANT to fight the boulder guys most of the time. The popular path to Quelaag actually goes around them, too - completely avoiding them. Heck, because it's the only one of these three to be a normal weapon, it won't be likely to pop up if a player is searching up what they need for Knight's Honor, either! The other two WOULD show up somewhere for Knight's Honor, since it only requires unique weapons.
@@anthonyst-onge Coming back to this a day later, I think it narrows down to how we define "obscure." Like, the pickaxe is definitely not as hard to obtain, but it was more _hidden,_ if that makes sense. No enemy ever visibly uses a pickaxe in DS1. Plus, there's only 5 (8 if Gravelorded) enemies who drop it, and they're not exactly 'memorable' in the sense that people would typically farm them. There's not much inventive to even fight the boulder-wielding Infested Barbarians, either - it's a lot easier to reach Quelaag by hugging the wall and going around them. Very easy to get the Pickaxe, but obscure to learn about it. Not many people have a reason to even try for it. Otherwise, yeah. The Channeler Trident and Demon Catchpole are both harder to obtain. They're obscure in the sense that you could even farm them for a while, to the point of giving up and failing to get either weapon. Still, they're very noticeable. Other demons have their weapons obtainable, and the Channeler armor set kinda clues the idea that you could get the trident. And if someone is VERY lucky, you could theoretically get both as early as Undead Parish Plus, both weapons could be slightly more easily found on the wiki, if only because of achievement utility. I can see an achievement hunter looking up what they need for Knight's Honor, but still missing the fact that the pickaxe exists. More importantly, there is a LOT of incentive to hunt Titanite Demons and to take out the Channelers. Titanite Demons are basically a resource, and the Channelers are a high-priority threat due to their buffs and spells. So they're more likely to be farmed frequently, too. Especially the Titanite Demons, who would be invaluable targets for any build using a boss weapon. Easier to discover the Titanite Catchpole and Channeler's Trident, but harder to obtain.
