- A SOLDIER old buddy of Cloud recognize him while his infiltrating Shinra building together with Tifa and Barret. Not sure if it is the same character, but another one also recognize him in the scene on the bridge. When escaping the Shinra building, Cloud break the glass with his sword and leave one soldier alive. Was wondering if it was the same one and if Cloud recognized him as well? Anyways, I have edited my raw footage and included these 3 scenes in a sequential way to show the appearance of this mysterious old buddy from the past of Cloud. Enjoy!

This Soldier was the only one who showed concern for Cloud & had no intention of hurting him.
Sora Light and then cloud throw his buster sword next to this soldier
They went training together that's why . The rest are only following orders from *Shinra* and they don't give a shit . Same happened with *Angeal* - *Genesis - *Sephiroth* they used to be a big deal and everyone was talking about them . Once *Genesis* betrays them and leave no one dares or care to speak about him anymore . *Angeal* dies from *Zack's* hands nobody speaks about him anymore . *Sephiroth* is *assumed* for *dead* ( he is not ) no one speaks or cares about him anymore . *Zack* trains thousands of new recruits and create a *bond* with them , *Shinra* order them to kill him and afterwards they never speak or care about him again . All these *4 soldiers* who used to be such a big talk and famous everywhere now its like they never *existed* . Which brings me to my point *Shinra* is like *CIA* they always clean up there shit and never talk about it again . If you did 💀🔫 . *Shinra* is a cold heartless company who doesn't give a shit who dies and who lives . That's why it makes this game more *intense* and *interesting* !
But even the soldier don't give a fuck . Its like *Aerith* said to *Zack* they fight and they love it ....

I loved that they mentioned Kunsel! He was one of Zack's Soldier friends as well from crisis core and he was 100% on his side when Shinra turned against them.
Kinda wish he had more screentime though or maybe a bigger role if they also remake the Crisis core game.

@@carelesscloud9816 Most likely, I could Imagine Zack talking about Cloud or introducing him to Kunsel at one point; And with how he still stayed in contact (or atleast tried to) with Zack 4 years after his "death" its safe to assume that Kunsel doesn't believe everything ShinRa tells him and would likely side with Cloud if he tells him the truth.

Could that have been referring to the alternate reality shown at the end though? And not the timeline they're currently in? Because that was clearly an entirely different dog breed stamp poster, and the focused way too long on that fact for it not to be significant.
@@OsnosisBones that scene is also several years before the events of FF7R, and Barrett does bring up how that changed Stamp's design.
Can't believe that they managed to fit in Kunsel here. He was one of Zack's old friends damn Square Enix did go all out in this one.
SoulRock indeed. The fact that also the shinra grunts recognise him could help explain how they manage to get into the Parade thing and get to costa del sol. Not that whole assume he is a soldier out of uniform, but maybe like going through the grunts network of friends, helping to get their buddy who seems to obviously be suffering from some form of mental issue, like maybe amnesia and get him back in with his fellow grunts in shinra security. Kunsel likely pulling a lot of favours to help get cloud and company over to costa del sol. Which I am sure they will get into in part 2.

I couldnt believe that they pulled out such a big reference. It was such a fucking heart stab as well. They knew how to get fans.

EDIT: It's either this is his way of saving them or it could also be a trap. But either way, I wish to see em both, Luxiere and Kunsel, in the up coming parts of the remake. May them be friend or foe

kitkatnad well zack trained a lot of SOLDIER trainees including cloud (maybe cuz that infantryman mentioned they trained back in the day then maybe he and cloud got rejected cuz idk why) and Zack also talks a lot maybe they do hang out a lot
If only Genesis actually died when he was beaten in Crisis Core. Getting the "secret ending" in Dirge of Cerberus kills the catharsis completely. Genesis was one of the worst compilation villains and not in a good way.

oh yeah now i remembered, cloud fails to join the SOLDIER, but he admits that himself is a 1st class SOLDIER, i think its due to the mako poisoning and the death of zack that makes his memory jumbled, makes him think that he is zack
@@plasthicc5407 Correct he takes Zack identity as mako poison and cells completely ruins his mind. Cloud body wasn't as accepting as real members of Soldier.
Cloud was only a infantry aka shinra soldier. By time he joined up war was already over so he never got time to make it through ranks.
It also how he easily tricked later on by Hojo. Truth if he didn't take on Zack persona he might still been in that comatose state where he could barely talk so maybe it was best thing for him at time.
When cloud came back home he was embarrassed that he didn't make soldier and kept his helmet on.

Angeal rarely used the sword because it could bring wear, tear and rust. Zack used the sword when needed. Cloud fucking abuses that sword.
To be fair Cloud never got the same memo, but I also had this same thought

Cloud always had the potential to be an incredible warrior, He was just insecure. His true ability/willpower manifested after watching the massacre of everyone in his home town including his mother by the person he admired most. Furthermore Sephiroth had been stabbed in the back by the buster sword which must've near enough cut him in half. Cloud got the back stab because Sephiroth was distracted by the fact he had been reunited with Jenova for the first time. In fact when we see the cutscene of Sephiroth encased in Materia in the Northern Crater on disc 2, Sephiroth lower body is gone, suggesting that even his miraculous body could not heal that wound.

@@kittyloaf5560 In the original he only has flashbacks, because of a PTSD he got at certain moment. The visions are new to this Remake, and we don't have the answers yet, only theories.
That's everything I can say without giving spoilers. I really suggest you play the original, or at least watch it on UA-cam, because it's obvious this remake won't be a 1:1 copy of the story.
Zack’s name was literally only mentioned to Cloud once in the Remake. What you probably meant was references to Zack, like when Cloud says he and his Buster Sword has been through a lot

ShinRa Security members, in the official FFVII lore, Most of Security Officer members actually dislike SOLDIER member (not hate), this is because they see SOLDIER members as monster because the artificial superhuman ability SOLDIER members had. While ShinRa Security were only normal humans.
And Cloud as one of them. Cloud was never a SOLDIER. after the nibelheim incident, he was captured and kept in the tube by Hojo. Infused with Mako, combinated with cell of Jenova. As an experiment. Cloud then saved by Zack and in the runaway, Zack changed Cloud's ShinRa Security uniform into a SOLDIER uniform.

It's interesting seeing another Shinra Infantryman and going from pure hostility to friendly. I just wish we got to see Kunsel. For the record, Kunsel would have mopped the floor with Roche, that would have been cool to see since Kunsel would probably ally with Cloud.
Kunsel would likely be 1st Class at this point. He was 2nd Class in Crisis Core IIRC. Roche is a mere 3rd Class.
I kinda wish we get ranked SOLDIERS as optional superbosses in Rebirth akin to the Valkyries in GoW 2018 and Berserkers in GoW:R because Roche really shown how even a 3rd Class is already a one-man army.
Watch that SOLDIER in particular become the MVP of the story. Coming in clutch at the last second when Cloud needs help the most. I’m practically expecting it at this point with the amount of screen time he’s gotten as a background character.

Kunsel should honestly get a role in the remake series. At the very least give him a face. I’m surprised Square Enix didn’t exploit cloud being in Shinra in the past, he could have buddies that refused to fight him or even help him as side missions.

Well first of all,Cloud is never become a SOLDIER in a first place
Second, those guys recognizing Cloud are just infantryman,which is understandable why they recognize him,because Cloud used to work as fellow infantryman in Shinra as well
And third,holy crud KUNSEL?? Man, he was such a bro in CC,hopefully he got promoted to 1st class..kinda wished we met him one way or another in next part of the game

Was a bit disappointed we didn't get Kunsel in Rebirth after we got Cissnei. Hopefully he shows up in the next game

I wish there was an easter egg similar to farcry 4 where if you waited 10 min Kunsel and the bois will actually return and reunite with cloud and it also affects the difficulty of the motorcycle chase scene making it easier to play through

That guy he's NOT Zack friend Kunsel, the 2nd Class SOLDIER. He's one of the Shinra soldier when Sephiroth & Zack rides a helicopter piloting by Cloud and him crashed due to heavy blizzard. I mean if he's Kunsel then obviously he will using the same uniform as Cloud with magenta color.

He was a soldier. He just wasn't Soldier. Just a soldier on mission to his hometown and so ashamed of his meager status that chose to remain unrecognized. A nobody in company of Legend and a hero.

Shinra is the best source of information Kunsel could ask for, especially given that the situation surrounding Cloud and Zack was of Shinra origin and Shinra would muzzle anyone with any knowledge of what was done to them. Kunsel would be an idiot to leave the company; he would be completely cutting himself off. The question is whether Kunsel knows Zack is dead, and if so, why would he bother with Cloud? Unless Kunsel doesn't believe Zack is dead and thinks Cloud would know where he is, Kunsel really shouldn't care one whit about Cloud-they're strangers to each other as far as the compilation is concerned (at least as far as we know).

I kinda wonder if this unnamed character will be able to cause a ripple effect throughout SOLDIER. If Cloud still being alive is enough to make others question their orders, imagine what kind of chaos would occur if future SOLDIER activities caused an internal power struggle. As if the timeline wasn't fucked up enough at the end of the first game...
