  • Welcome back to the channel! This video will review the PedalPCB Delegate Compressor. A clone of the EQD Warden, this optical compressor gives you the level of control only provided by few studio compressor pedals. Outer knobs give you common compressor controls Level, Tone, and Sustain, as well as, additional controls for Attack, Ratio, and Release. This video will also provided a breakdown of the schematic and show how each of these controls effect the gain of a OPA2134 opamp.

    This is a great video!
Your explanation is very helpful and easy to follow, you deserve way more subs.
    Also that pedal looks great!

That was a boss video my dude. Aces man! I'm going to try and use this as a test platform for some brainstorming. I want to do a pedal that uses a from of hydraulic pressure for feedback in the circuit.
Thanks for the straight and to the point walk through of the schematic. It really helped me to understand fully what the actual waveform is doing, and somewhat visualize it. I have yet to start playing the guitar, save for a few strums here n there, But I love me sum drums ;) acoustic, electronic, made from whatever the heck you can find lol,. I was hoping to use this hydraulic sensor as a trigger . First stop, schematics for a cheap circuit I can easily build and play with, something I can modify etc. to get my feet wet. This was perfect. New sub for sure. Cheers!

Awesome circuit breakdown! Not a lot of people out there explaining compression circuits for pedals. Thanks for doing this! I'm going to have to watch this a couple more times before I understand the attack and release section. It hasnt sunk in yet.

Glad you enjoyed it. For a tip, look at electrosmash's breakdown of the mxr dyna comp. Very similar circuit, just uses the output of the envelope filter to feedback into a CA3080 instead of an optocoupler. www.electrosmash.com/mxr-dyna-comp-analysis

Hi ! i've seen your videos about the Warden clone ! i'm new in diy building, and i have a question. Do you know what's the difference between the "Delegate compressor" on pedalpcb and "Tone Guard Device" on Musikding (pcbmania) ? The pcbs seem to be differents... thx for your help, and thanks to you i think i'll try to begin diy pedals ;)

Looks like they are exactly the same, just different layouts. either pcb should do the job. PedalPCB does give you a specific part number for the LDR though (GL5516) which i think you will need to get from Smallbear. You could swap it for a KE-10720 from Tayda. It would be a little different, but would still work.

@@pougnetpedals hi ! Thx for your answer 👍 ok understood, so I’ll choose pcb from Pedalpcb and your video will help me 🤩🤩. For the LDR, I’ve not found it on smallbear, tayda, musikding,… only on eBay or Amazon. I have a question about capacitors which voltages would I take ? (10V,50V,100V, 250V) ? Thx for your help ! 😎😎

Hey what chassis is that? Can that be purchased?
