    I don't understand why so few people, when demoing a compressor, do not show what it sounds like with all the compression cranked up and some kind of chorus or electric-mistress style flanger on it...This is a classic 80s sound that cannot be created without a good compressor, and it seems to be missing in every compressor demo I see.

      Rafael Ostos-Tapia I have an MXR Custom Comp & a Keeley 4-knob...Both are awesome...The MXR is a better bargain for the money though!

      It’s true. They also never crank the gain, bend a note and see how long they could hold it for. How can you tell what this pedal could do with just a basic clean tone. You could tell a little but nowhere near the extent of the pedals capabilities.

    Best compressor I've ever used. Guitar, bass, keys and even drums as outboard gear. Thick and sublime. Thanks EQD!!!!

    this was the compressor I wanted. but I got the Way Huge "Saffron Squeeze " it was amazing, but I just LOVE EQD pedals. EQD,Wampler, and JHS are my favorite pedal company.

    What's the difference between V1 and V2? When was V2 released?
    It's a great pedal, I could get a used one but I'm not sure about the version-thing... Regards from Austria

    • @EarthQuakerDevices
      @EarthQuakerDevices  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Martin, the V2 was introduced in late 2017 with the update of a soft touch switch and that is the sole difference between a V1 and V2. In early 2021 the V2 was updated with a blue LED. Thanks for your support and have a great day!

    Been checking the site since the Namm demo; when does Mr. Warden hit the streets? I've been battling compressors for about 9 years now; can't live without one, and the EMMA Transmorgrifier has been the winner on my pedal board since 2005 as it's the best/most transparent peak limiter I've found. I've tried sooo many...Wampler, Keeley, MXR, Analogman, Oxygen, T Rex, etc. etc! There's a new batch of comps on the market, but I'm waiting for and counting on The Warden to win my next shootout!

    Is a compression pedal redundant when it comes to high gain?

    • @henlolimbo5088
      @henlolimbo5088 8 років тому +11

      +Noah McCoy I don't know if this is too late of response, but it will do it's best to keep everything at an even volume in response to how hard you pick or strum your guitar. So lets say you're tapping, volume is obviously lost with those hammer ons and pull offs, it is bound to sound a little sloppy even with high gain, the compressor will make sure every note is heard at the same volume. At least, that's one use of the compressor.

      I would not compress hi-gain drive... bit that is just my opinion

    • @rzk_audio
      @rzk_audio 3 роки тому +4

      The short answer - no!
      The medium answer - if you're like me and you're constantly changing techniques in riffs, thus varying the input level into the drive, compression is essential.
      The long answer -
      High gain drives compress audio inherently, especially if the input is consistent (I'm thinking like palm-muted downstroke chugs, big chord choruses in metal, stuff which has a pretty constant level of input) because the drive takes everything up to its ceiling when playing like that. For things with more intricacy - complex rhythmic riffs, solos, especially anything with tapping it has great utility in getting that consistency that you would have on the last example.
      In a lot of my heavy gain riffs and stuff I'm constantly changing from tapping, economy/selective/alternate picking, palm muting/not etc etc - for that sort of stuff, it's absolutely essential. I tend to repeat a riff and have my friend adjust the parameters until we think It's sounding consistent to get settings for each song.
