Glad you’re back, I do think your old way of showing opening hands was way better than the half card on screen thing. Not everyone can identify cards by the top half of a picture. All in all welcome back, can’t wait for more content
Yeah we're going to re-address how we do opening hands for future videos, this one and the next one are just already finished so the best we could do was make it a bit more clear (compared to the last video) was to show a bit more of the art
@@CasuallyCompetitiveMTG I actually like how you have hands. I will caveat I’m a pretty entrenched cedh player. So maybe more of your fans would benefit from some other way of displaying them? Regardless keep showing hands definitely sets you apart from pwp and play to win. Also I appreciate you guys are playing in person. Webcam no matter how good can never be as good as in person
I will say one of the quality of life things the gameplay videos here did was the stack as a chalkboard. Its probably tough to edit that consistently but I do miss it from the old show.
These first 3 gameplay videos were edited all at the same time, but for the next video we edit we are going to address all feedback people have about the design so hopefully the next revision is a bit better
Great video as always. Funny format and I'm really hyped for the upcoming vids! By the way Nate B and Jordan's voice are a bit off, in the deck introduction segment.
I love Casually Competitive as it's the exact content I like. It's the same feeling as the Playing with Power "Best commanders from x set." Just the idea of taking an idea and making it as powerful as possible is how I like to build
Casually Competitive, known haters of IRS-- More seriously, this was a super fun game! Watching people try to work through the various decks was very fun, and that ending was really interesting!
hot take thassa's/consulate is a fine wincon and anyone complaining needs to understand thats its CEDH gameplay and if they don’t like it go watch other casual gameplay that lasts hours on end
Just putting out there because generally only the most passionate people in the subject comment, thoracle consult lines are fine with me. It's the most efficient win con in the format. It'd be boring if it's all y'all did, but there's plenty of game before it happens and it wouldn't feel like cEDH if you ignored it completely.
Our general plan is to try to plan pods around consult decks so it doesn't get too repetitive. For example, the next 4 pods after this one don't have any consult decks, but after those we might do a pod with multiple. That way we can play the consult decks we want without it appearing too frequently
I love the visualization of the stack, however it might be a bit small? I haven’t decided yet part of me likes it smaller part of me wishes it was the same as the central card rect
The idea behind it was that the card would have been shown larger at one point, it wasn't entirely necessary to fully show it again, but after the next video (since the next video was also edited at the same time) we are going to go through all the feedback and hopefully come up with a solution that everyone enjoys and can easily understand
It doesn’t really make a difference, but on turn 1 Bill should’ve gone to 35 right? Fetch, shock, probe would be 1+2+2 or can you have a shock land come in without the damage when you fetch it? Apologies, I haven’t played EDH in 3 or 4 years now
Don't apologize, you're correct with this! Must be an overlook with editing because were working with different video editors this time around. Thanks for pointing this out!
@@CasuallyCompetitiveMTG yeah, I could see why. I just hope people understand the spirit of competitive EDH and won't hate your channel because lf it 😁
Our current methodology for it is we will stack consult decks together and space those consult filled pods out. So for example, of our first 5 pods (tribal included), only this pod has consult lines. Stacking the consult decks together still lets us play the consult decks we want, but hopefully they will be sparse enough to not be repetitive
It's cEDH, naturally people play the most mana efficient wincons. Commander is doing just fine, sit down with some friends and play some casual games it will refresh your perspective
@@JDPower-ej3rx just because it’s C doesn’t mean things don’t need to go. Look at flash hulk when it stagnated the format. I play commander casually 3 times a week, but thanks for the attempt at a recommendation
I would be so frustrated if I were in this game. So much feeding the fish, wheeling everyone into 8 cards. Everyone was trying to give everyone else the game. So much cringe..
I'd love to see a companion "Secret Santa" episode to this one, where players makes decks they think their chosen player would love instead of hate!

glad your back. missed the games
Oooo...gotta say that is a slick new take on opening hands display. I'm personally pretty keen on it.
Great to have y'all back

Fingers crossed that the next game Kodama does some epic stuff 😉

Aye casually competitive is back! Love the content!
Thanks!
Glad to see you guys back, threat assessments were totally off in this game imo but ❤anyway
Would it really be Casually Competitive if we played the game correctly though?
i think the thoracle win was cool in this game, it didnt really feel out of nowhere.
The players introing their own decks is *adorable* (灬ºωº灬)
Keep up the good work!
Amazing, please make more. The salt is delicious.
I have a Blim, Comedic Genius bad gifts deck, if that answers the question at the beginning!
Here’s one for the editors!!

Oh good god. Double Thassa Consult. This pod is gonna be a nightmare

I really liked the old version of openers with larger hands, showing what was put back with mulligans and even the power level and average mana costs.
Oh yes!
Dude love cEDH, show more fast games, Thoracle for the win!!!!!

You are correct.
Don't apologize, you're correct with this! Must be an overlook with editing because were working with different video editors this time around. Thanks for pointing this out!
Honestly, with two consult decks that's something like a 50% chance of winning with thoracle. I wouldn't sweat it
Amazing videos again. Love it :)
Let’s goooo!
Nate drew all those cards and still couldn't pull out a win. That's crazy. Good game though guys.

Why didn't Jordan send Kefnet back to the library?

I love that casually competitive is back. Y'all seriously don't know how to play against mystic remora tho.
Comment for the algorithm
where did my mans get his anime nissa mat??? @casually competitive mtg
FEED THE FISH. And feed the editors, ye 😅
I've seen these guys play magic for years at this point.. The fish stays fed
Hi Joseph, is there anything in the works to maybe add in a noise gate during recording? The narration occasionally has you breathing into the mic.
Force of NEGATION!
I hate paying taxes too
As a stax player, pay your taxes!
For the love of god no more turn 1 Serra ascendant plz

I was like #666... hopefully it doesn't mean anything. 😬
Do people really hate you guys for winning with Thoracle?
I wouldn't say they hate on us specifically, it's mainly people just find a Thoracle ending anticlimactic and boring which is fair

The fact that 3/4 wincons are thassa’s oracle tell you how fucked the state of c is. That card has to go

Tapping Hallowed Fountain instead of a basic island to pay for Remora was a mistake, and Nate L got immediately punished.
three decks with thassas oracle win cons huh

Yeah, I especially don’t understand the ponder, not playing for rhystic, after drawing 10 cards off remora
I hate that overplayed combo and almost everyone here is playing it. Double thumbs down
It’s not like he rushed into playing it though. NOBODY paid any taxes, and he played it after seeing his opportunity after THREE Force of Wills.
get over it, lmao
