I think it was the sheet metal they riveted on catching the light and making it not look right. Like the top and bottom of it has right spacing . Idk let’s see more walk arounds

Yeah I don't think they told us if it's a tri-coat or not if that's metallic in the paint you can't even buff that out that's why tri-coats are expensive. 50-50 paint job looks good from 50 feet or 50 miles an hour. as somebody who has painted cars for a living never once have I ever seen any UA-cam channel put a good paint job on a car. They always hide the mistakes and don't show any details.when he was showing the hood and wear the emblem goes there seem to be either bubbles or just crap in the paint. instead of getting that ridiculous body kit $3,800 could have bought you a damn nice paint job.

That's some insane orange peel... almost makes some places look matte with how blurred and diffused the light becomes when it hits it

@@alenshkalla2868 Incorrect, there are wet to wet primers where you can paint straight over primer. There is orange peel because they are using cheap tools & have no clue how to use paint gun. Clear coat was way too thin and uneven, thats why it looks like shit. Clear coat needs to be layed thicker to look smooth (its always better to lay more & get runs then not lay enough). You cant even save this paintjob with wetsand, because there is not enough clear coat.
It's why I watch this channel. To make myself feel better about my own work. B is for bad quality

rear widebody looks "droopy" and "sagging" also hope you guys buff that car. Angles around 20:30 the paint on the door looks pretty harsh.
Sometimes the camera makes paint look harsher than it is, I also think Chris is kinda letting Kyle do more so he isn't the only painter. Chris's first paintjobs were bad but he has learned.

The price obviously isn't a factor into how this project is finished because none of it will ever be recouped. The car is worth less now than when they started it.

Paint needs a cut and buff BADLY! And I would have not painted the sheet metal and left it with a raw brushed finished.

The body kit is apocalyptic for sure. Looks like an early 90’s Honda build or like It came from an episode of ‘pimp my ride’ lol. On the plus side it was entertaining to watch and you did the best you could with a limited budget.
You painted over the wheel weights so when u change tyres u will have a row of silver lol

They'll probab put beefier tires on there, the ones on there are rubber bands. Thicker tire walls would help fill it out a bit.

Nice vid on Donut today! Digging how this is turning out. I was a bit unsure about the riveted straps, but they look very cool.
Instead of using raw unprotected basecoat I’d use SEM trim/bumper black. Comes in a rattle can and is specifically designed for exterior trim panels and textured plastic bumpers/valances. A lot more durable, or you could’ve used a flattening agent in your NASON clear coat for the satin look you’re after.

A widebody like that is meant for a larger wheel+tire combo for more grip. People don't know that because they only see it as a way to use more stance

Tech tip with spade connections. If you alternate the male and female ends, you can't connect them wrong. So the light would have one male (like for the positive) and one female plug (for the negative). Then if you pull it apart you don't have to label things or worry about getting it wrong. Course this only works when there is two wires.
The blinkers from the original fenders are what you use for the admirer market m3 blinkers . They use the bulb housings as a conversion to fit the after markets .
You take the bulb out the 335i style blinker and plug the m3 style blinker into it

They have a product called knifeless tape. It’s like pinstripe tape but it has a strong string in the middle that allows you make a shape to cut the vinyl after its applied. I use it a lot when doing this kind of vinyl wrap accents

A tip for wiring with spade connectors. Flip flop one of the connectors so you can only plug them in one way. You’ll have one wire that has the female connector on the car side and one with the male. Can’t plug it in wrong that way.

Hey buddy you should have to improve your paint skills, it still looks rough, please cut off the paint make it smooth and clear coat it nicely and polish it. Then you’re all good to go.
The door has a bad paint job as well, its not just the body kit ^^

Yeah its def a spray n go paint job. Should have done a couple things: warm the paint as much as you can before spraying, warmer paint settles flatter, and a quick wet sand between base and clear and a wet sand cut and polish after clear and it'll look like a show car

chris a little trick for painting with just basecoat is to add a little hardener to it .

black paint chips off just from the side repeater pre fitment from its plastic anchors that should not have happened, black paint on there is sketchy @16:40. Plus lots of orange peel on the driver's side door @20:27 I have a lot of respect for this man and his channel, I hope he redoes it.
Really wish it went more in a Cyberpunk direction. Meaty tires, some functional-looking accessories on the exterior, replace OEM headlights with basic LED strips or something like that. Just... crazies, I guess.

The breaks are pretty good on the 335i
If you put bigger brakes you will not fit small wheels 4 sure 🤦♂️
The brakes are good enough, just some new rotors and better pads do the job very nice.
And i'm guessing the are going to put meaty nitto tires on it.
The brakes will be fine. If you want better performance, go with some aggressive pads, ss lines.

Turned out to be a good build, out of scrap parts laying around the shop. Good job guys and as always entertaining.
I really wish there wasnt a use of those rivet strips because they really look out of place and more better suited for the hardware store. The headlight bucks give a whole new look I'm okay with .

you usualy don't paint them you powder coat them, cuz paint chips to easy, and powdercoats are way more dureble

Hello there B is for Build just an FYI I owned a body shop for 30 years in Washington st SEM makes a trim paint in an aerosol can for trim and it does stay on it’s made by SEM and it’s actually called trim paint very good product
This car is really nice for an apocolypse build. I dont mean that cynically. I'd drive the hell out of it.
the bmw reminds me of the one off need for speed most wanted game cover :) love it but also cant wait to see the single seater car once done
Those rivets make it look like you attempted some at home body work, couldn't figure it out so you slapped on a janky paint job over the top to hopefully mask the mistakes. This build is a solid meh.
Konig is doing great lightweight wheels lately...I had a set 19x8.5 19lbs each.
Not going to lie, some of the aesthetic choices confuse me on this one. Overall great job though using what you had around you.
That wide rear end is just horrible

Vintage Flats makes a clear coat that is flat and will not change the sheen of your trim paint you want flat. Check out their line of paints.

Chris, u should do buffing and polishing on this paint job if u can. I can see orange peel everywhere. The door jams u should wrap in black vinyl, is the best way to do it.
I mean it, car is looking nice, but the fact that u are rushing on some details make the car looks off. The wheels are so strange looking, there’s something but it cannot tell what it is.

Mashimarho has fender badges that read 335 check em out it’ll fill in the blank plus you don’t want to put an M3 this beast isn’t one. Also Bayoptic headlights would look sick as well.
I did base coat only rattle can on my crx trim to wheel. 1 year gone and no probs. And needs to have a brighter wheel vs drk Rub some Funk (perriwinkle) slightly on it w puter. GT style tires

E92 Totally worth it , got one rebuilding now
Love the metal trim around the edges, really cool. Have to ask why widebody and skinny wheels? Good luck putting down 500hp. The kit on my E92 added 100mm so I added 100mm to the wheel size for 12" width. 400hp tune and they still spin...also please at LEAST align offsets properly if not ride height too, makes a BIG difference. I've done all this on my channel so not speaking in theory. Rubbing is an issue though haha. Anyway glad to see this car being worked on by more of the bigger builders, will keep watching.
Def needs some more sidewall on the next set of tires, and maybe even some spacers in the rear, then the fitment will be nice
I'm amazed of how many people complain about the paint and stuff on a apocalypse build it's not supposed to be perfect omg
I would suggest next time getting Knifeless Tape for those edges. Costs ~$15 and would save you some stress on that nice paint job.
Best long term solution and results is etched primer followed but over the counter duplicolor trim paint for the window trims. Comes out looking like you powder coated them and will last.

Don't spray base coat alone, you can get an additive to make the clear coat flat or eggshell finish, it's worth it.
