Wow this really took me back. I graduated in 1997 and served as a TOW gunner for four years after that. I've since changed my job to MP and now I work with K9's. I can't believe I retire in less than eight years.
lol god they use that song in every branch in every demonstration. im in the navy and ive heard it at least a million or so times. hooyah army brothers!
@Northeastbaseball - it was FREEZING - they handed out blankets to the crowd. They had a HUGE ice storm the week before while the guys were on bivouac - one of the companies came in from the field - the other stayed out there (and weren't about to let the other guys know about it LOL).
Why so cynical? It wasn't meant to be a documentary. This "show" was to demonstrate (in a very small way) to the family and friends of the graduates a small sampling of what they had learned through their training. As retired military (24 yrs Air Force) and a father of one of these graduates I was grateful for their dedication and display of skill which we were all there to celebrate. My son went from there to a tour in Afghanistan. I was and remain very proud of all of them.
Actually they did have blankets to hand out - just not enough of them - it was COLD !(and windy). As you probably know - they had a horrible ice storm there just the week before and these troops were camping out in it.
@bngedrinkr81 I think I can help solving this issue. They do not train women at Fort Benning. The soldiers only beat up women and girls at the protests against the SOA. Maybe you got confused.
for what all we did is drive & walk around and hope we don't get shout or blow up other than that we were just bored the hole time. i dont get why people act like this is ww2 or something? i would just be proud his in the best of the best 11B INFANTRY!!!
they should've issued snuggies to the crowd...I was 1/19 Infantry...I saw this same demoe while in basic, I think it was armed forces day or something.
well First of all, let me know what your background is, for making such boasts! I am a regular army (tank/infantry) captain, 17 years of service and 4 tours, to Iraq and Afghanistan and the Balkans, and IMO, the US and UK both produce very good soldiers, so to say that the british are far superior to the yanks, is just plain BS.
Drive on infantry, infantry drive on! Queen of the battle the mighty infantry!
you have got to love the 240. i aint sure i only went to benning never been to another graduation.

I'm in the Guard, and I love it.
Well put. You just can't explain it to someone who has never gone through it.

E3/47 T_T...... brings back memories...
I'm not positive, but I would imagine they do. It's designed to give the families in attendance what they learned there.

@newfyguy2000 you sound like a really scary guy. I´m glad I´m no member of Amnesty International, your worst enemy, or you might shoot me.
16 weeks
haha, well, these men get 16 weeks, (no weekends off) of pure training, then get advanced skills at thier units.

I can't help it if they're slow learners :-)
