    No idea how old AlphaDestiny is, but I'd guess i've got like ten to fifteen years on him. My point is I've been lifting for close to 30 years and can't think of anything he's said in the plethora of videos of his i've watched that I don't agree with. Now I'm also a lifetime natty so I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I'm very impressed with the knowledge he's gained in the time he's been training. Of course, 20 years ago youtube wasn't a factor, but thank god it is now. Young lifters, take advantage and watch his videos and take notes....you'll save yourself years of trial and error.

    I'm training with weighted calisthenics for now 7 months ( specially pull up, dips and push up) and you're totally right :
    My front lever increased for 5-6 second, I can do more muscle up in one set and the craziest thing is that I can put more weight on the bench press than my friend who is in the gym since 3 years only because I do weighted dips. And of course I made more muscle gains than just train with my own body weight. So I totally agree with you.

Pullups dips pushups rows ring curls ring tricep extensions squats lunges and various versions of each, using different leverages, rep/set ranges and tempos, 4-5x a week. Good for you but I see no reason to do calisthenics alone unless there is some calisthenics olympics out there where you can compete. If calisthenics worked for bodybuilding, some serious bodybuilders would be doing it but there are none. It's definitely better than nothing but if you want a great physique then there are more effective means out there.

The only cons is that I notice that I gained more weight and therefore I'm a little bit heavier (even tho I'm stronger) and that can be bad for static skills.

    Do super high volume with Squats, push ups, dips and pull ups.
    Then mix it with Weighted calisthenics, same exact exercises, load up 60-70% of your RM and still doing reps(10-20 sets with reps from 5 to 12)
    This combination will get you jacked and super stronf

    I once read somewhere that moving the body through space exercises "calisthenics" have the highest neuromuscular activation, followed by compound exercises with free weights, followed by compound exercises on machines, followed by isolation exercises with free weights, followed by iso exercise on machines being the least. I've never seen a high level male gymnast who wasn't jacked.

    Weighted calisthenics is the best and the fastest way to build muscle. It will keep you shredded and you will constantly make more gains while working some muscles that gym goers dont even know they have.
    It will also build a better looking physique. I would also want to mention gymnastic physiques like Van Gelder, Zanetti, Yovchev etc.. Isometric exercises will also do wonders

    my opinion you might not agree, but squats and deadlifts in my opinion, is a calisthetics excersise, so if dont have time to work out every muscle group just do this. pull ups, dips, squats, deadlifts and chrunches, and you will have a great physice and they are all ez to overload. i use them in my routine and its one if the more fun excersises. so i highly recommend.

    This is major for me. I joined the gym last month and just started last week with calisthenics. Now I'm gunna go straight to weight calisthenics. I'm gunna buy a pull up-dip bar for my house. Are weighted vests good for the pull up, dip, and push up? Instead of the weights hanging from the waist in your video. Thanks again bro. I can feel gains coming.

    • @attenzione1795
      @attenzione1795 2 роки тому

      The vest works but I always prefer the weights hanging from your hips because it’s more difficult and it feels like you are literally being pulled down into the ground, but vest is more as if you were heavier like all of a sudden you became fat or something.

    I've found that weighted calisthenics build strength but not necessarily muscular endurance. So i break my training into weighted lifts for building strength as well as body weight calisthenics for higher reps to build the endurance.

    The other upside to weighted push ups is the core and quads are working too, and you can go deeper. Also, static calisthenics transition to high reps too and are really impressive looking btw dude your skill work looks fucking awesome. The weighted oap and lever were perfecto. • @Asadc1995
    @Asadc1995 6 років тому +5

    No bullshit man every word Alex says about weighted calisthenics is true. Like first being that weighted calisthenics have higher carryover transfer to skill based calisthenics. Like i found out on the lately i been able to do one arm push ups without even specially training for it directly. Because i do heavy 30kg weighted ring dips i also found out that i could do a 5 sec l sit hold without even specially training for it. And my bench increased from 80kg to 100kg 220lbs. It also gives a heck alot of more work capacity in other movements weather being skill based calisthenics or powerlifting or oly lifting. Third being you can get very big from it like Alex says i mean look at some guys like Adam Raw he is very big and does over his bodyweight dips.

    Friendly Topic Request: Favorite calisthenics exercises for those who have already built up a strength base practising squats, deadlifts, presses, et cetera, but want to expand their base in a way that carries (maybe) over to the aforementioned exercises?
    I do use weighted chins in the gymnastic rings and LOVE those. Have been doing them for a long time, too. I assume you would recommend weighted dips and pistol squats with a weight added. Maybe do a list of 5 highly recommended such exercises. Thanks.

    Been training weighted calesthenics for only 2 weeks consistently since I got enough money to buy a weight belt and some weights. The max i can put on right now is 16kg until I can, but another weighted plate. But man, does it feel good in a strange way. My reps have dropped, halved even, and my body is reacting to it very well as when I performed bodyweight only variables I.e pull ups push ups not only can I do them effortlessly but also more explosive to right now I can perform 15 clean pull ups and 23 dips cleanly until my form breaks down. And I can't weight (yes, I'm punny like that) to add more weights on my pull-ups for more results.
