Another famous german folk metal band is "Feuerschwanz", also a fantastic rabbit hole
As you did the Saltatio Mortis one of Hypa Hypa. There is a an insane collab of several folk metal bands covering Manowar's warriors of the world, where the band is also performing. It's called "warriors of the world united" by Feuerschwanz. Sacrilegious, but I think I do like it even more, than the original. 😬😅

Folk metal is pretty strong in Germany and all over Europe, Saltatio Mortis (it's latin for dance of the dead) is awesome. They mostly sing in German, but they also have some very good songs in English and also their videos are fantastic. Medieval folk is our heritage and there are many groups like Feuerschwanz, In Extremo, Subway to Sally who incorporates old instruments and tunes or fairy tales into modern music.

Huge Saltatio Mortis fan. This is my favourite out of the Hypa Hypa collabs. Happy to hear any SaMo stuff you send our way although, as some others mentioned in the comments, I would love to see Warriors of the World United as that has a lot of my favourite people all in one place.
Saltatio Mortis are a fantastic rabbit hole to discover.
My suggestions to get into them:

Saltatio Motis is a great band and I love their collab with Electric Callboy.
I love this cover of the song the music with what sounds like the bagpipes and being Scottish I hate lol but its just wonderful
Saltatio Mortis has two sounds folk-metal but also a punk sound on which this cover leans more.
If want something completely left field by Saltatio Mortis then I recommend Leporina Venatio.
I can only describe it as bardcore (in 2003) meets EDM.
If you're into the medieval metal Saltatio Mortis (latin for Dance of death) has really nice videos for you to watch too. Nice gaming stuff , for example My mother told me, Dragonborn comes and Pray to the Hunter but also independant stuff. Also look into Feuerschwanz (fire tail or fire dick, the double entendre is intended). One metal video a week just isn't enough ;)

0:20 the word eskimo was used in german for native people of greenland the Inuit, many of them consider the word "eskimo" as an insult or at least some kind of sterotype. in oder not to offend anybody, they changed their bandname. They also made a video about this topic/process.

Please do more saltatio mortis they are not only a staple in german folk metal but they are now in a big growth period with "finsterwacht" getting international attention.
Finsterwacht isnt just a great video its a concept album with The Dark Eye, the german answer to dubgeons and dragons, and a major part of our nerd culture. Which the band has played a big role in for a long time. So if you want to be right there when the next german band gets big, do it now. They deserve it
Because "Es------" is considered a *racial slur* towards the indigenous folk that live up north. In some parts of the world, like where I live, one can get ones ass kicked, or worse, if one called someone that. They had troubles getting promoted, and bands would refuse to share a bill with them. So it wasn't just because of a few complaints, if they wanted to continue to grow in the US and Canada, and a few other parts of the world, they had to change their name.

I would suggest not using the "eskimo" part anymore, there's a reason why the guys gave it up. Maybe you could check the videos they did about the name. It was called going back to school or something like that

Not to pigeonhole your recommendations to German bands for a while but you should really check out the song Warriors Of The World United by Feuerschwanz. It's a cover of a song from Manowar that features a number of amazing singers including Melissa Bonny (from Ad Infinitum that you checked out several months ago in Marching on Versailles) and the singers of Saltatio Mortis and Gloryhammer.

Eskimo is considered a slur, that’s why they changed it to electric. I like electric better anyway.
