Welcome to the 6 hour build! Two new episodes of this series will be going live every day at 18:00 and 18:30 (GMT) till Sunday. For a chance to WIN THIS GUITAR, use the coupon code '6hrz' when checking out on our online store. Good luck and enjoy the ride!
it was most likely the pizza that made you happy :) cheese, after being eaten releases a chemical that binds to dopamine receptors in the brain. mozzarella and cheddar - which is most likely to be the cheese / cheeses used on your pizza have been proven to release more of this chemical than any other cheese :)
I'm envious of this shop. The tools look well placed and organized. If you guys like vintage tools, Texas Toast Guitars builds all of their guitars with vintage tools. They make some very nice stuff! Matt is cool as hell, too!
I can't work without immediate access to the tool I want, I am not naturally a tidy person but also really HATE wasting time looking for things, time that could be spent building! B
That's what I just commented, I just started building guitars and I'm always wary about cutting those slots. But as long as the line is straight, and you have a good steady hand, it should work just fine
fair play ben.. your a freaking legend. your gonna go from strength to strength with your business.. and i absolutely love watching hard work paying off for some one.. particularly some one who cares about his business, customers and employees as much as you do
Lovely! Man i don't think i could tell you how much you've guided me through, with everything from my current refret work on my Ibanez, and other future modifications to my guitars, cheers man! Keep up the great, great, GREAT work!
Set to the teeth. Bent to both sides to allow clearance for the plate while going down into the cut. Old saw makers terminology. Or young, take yer pick. Note for future videos, keep dust mask handy.
Watching this in 1,25 x normal speed or even 1,5 times makes for a lot of fun. Ben becomes some sort of luthier cartoon. And saves a lot of time for "real life" things...
Im not through the series yet. But my guitars have much thinner fretboards. If you leave it that thick do you just trim back the neck profile more to make up the difference? I kinda like the look of it being thicker. Also thank you so much for these videos. They are fantastic
I am seriously impressed that you used THAT fretboard... on a guitar you are going to basically "give" away.... I mean.... it's not like it's a "commonplace" slice o' timber there, by any means...
Lack of pizza with the guitar building Ben. If you don't have your pizza in time, you can't think straight.... So chances are that in the end this guitar will look like a pizza.
I love everything about this series, except for how the camera is out of focus half the time. Nauseating to look at in full screen. Or maybe I just shouldn't binge watch every single one of the episodes.
Aren't you glad mfgs stopped putting 18 inch(45 cm) cords on power tools like they used to back in the day? That got really old. Sometimes you don't need a 50 foot(15m) extension cord so it's nice to have a 12 foot(3.5m) cord on the tool itself.
I was a chef for 30 years also and the stress you speak of led to substance abuse and all sorts of miscreant fuckery.I'm retired now and much better but I do miss the stress in a strange way.

Crimson Custom Guitars when you were planing that fretboard it sounded like the Tardis was about to appear in the corner of the room😁

Really enjoyed the fret slotting by hand. Love these special series.

Compound radius with a hand plane on end grain...MIND BLOWN!
As a beginner guitar Builder, it's good to see other people cutting Frets without a miter box or anything.
Can't wait for the rest of this build!

this reminds of my high school wood shop. hard task he set himself. a commendable effort what ever the end result.
The titles of these videos are getting better and better :-)

Great videos! What make are your bandsaw blades Ben? Many thanks!
impressive fret sawing there.
Would love to see build off between you and Sully. Against the clock, first to play an in-tune chord wins, and Loser has to buy the winner's guitar.
should the neck carve be thinner to compensate for the heavy fretboard???
More Pizza, MORE COFFEE.
Nb
Coffee will greatly help when you return to manual sanding Ben-wise!
Or Wise-Ben?
No!
Benwise, as in-
The way of a Ben
LOL "djent saws" at 23:40. (Yes, yes, I know.)
Video suggestion: official guiness world record attempt for fastest telecaster build.

Time mgmt 101. 6hr build: 2hrs per body, neck, electricals. Then any time left can go back to finishing the components.
Thing is the whole time I'm also trying to make sure it comes down to the wire for the entertainment of the thing.. B
Technically there really is no BAD pizza...lol!
How long until we see you throw a fine belt on that sander and use it to level your frets (pre-nut install) haha.
Id like to see pics of the team when they were kids and when Ben had hair.
Although i dont think james would look any younger.

How come the voiceover Ben is so much more wise and knowledgeable than the guitar build Ben? ;-)
david williams 50% hindsight, 50% pizza'd tummy.
david williams voiceover ben is older.
apinakapinastorba lol.....brilliant 😂
Lack of pizza with the guitar building Ben. If you don't have your pizza in time, you can't think straight....

Ben, could you please put a string on a Gent saw and make it a Djent saw?
A great guitar builder
The coil of wire that formed a treble clef amused me more than would be socially acceptable me thinks (9 min mark Ish)
Why two episodes a day, I would easily have done this a six hour watch.
How about a "Stump the Chump" epi where you repair, or try to, an irrepairable guitar.
That would be a great series.. B
is it going to be too bright or heavy or ugly as you explained before in a previous podcast regarding oak
It's not just "redefining custom", it's "redefining porn". Your vids are awesome.
Was just thinking: "I just finished a kit built violin bass and that took me about 3 weeks!" But there was a week of hand sanding in that, no tools.
Damn you, Ben. Now I need pizza.
I thought PRS Guitars used a 25 inch scale length?
I love everything about this series, except for how the camera is out of focus half the time. Nauseating to look at in full screen. Or maybe I just shouldn't binge watch every single one of the episodes.
EVERYTHING should begin with pizza!! \m/
I just remembered why i stopped watching after the last part... i need pizza...

Anyone else think the body shape looks a little like a junior version of Odd?

Ben your breathing hard, pizza doesn't help😬, have someone clean up the shop it's toooo cluttered. Great guitar builds though!!
.023" kerf
3 Hour Build? At some point you're gonna have a CNC do all the work
Every good story starts with a pizza
ben its called set on the teeth
No 3 hour build!!!!!!! You'll be sacrificing quality for speed!!!
3rd
2nd
A crazy perfectionist building a guitar in 6 hours? Rubbish...lol
I cringe every time I see you put a plane down on its blade. Something I was always taught not to do.
