the genius of this video is not necessarily the chords themselves but the voicing scheme and application. it shows that the purpose is not just to simply spell the chords correctly, but to create a melodic line using the chords as they are spelled. an accomplished player will easily recognize the extensions but appreciate the application, and players looking to learn without a strong theory background should be able to play this by following his instructions....good job and keep this stuff coming...
This was us 8 years ago, now, the prettysimplemusic family is we ay bigger.....! We have grown. Uncle KC, you have always been amazing. Guys, thanks for staying all these years.
KC, it took me a few months to lock in the Major Feel Good chords but I finally got it! Practicing one hand at a time helped me quite a bit. Many thanks for your valuable tutorials and encouragement.
I love learning new things in music and watching your tutorials has opened my eyes to so much more just when I was starting to feel jaded by all the chords I already knew. Thank you so much! You are seriously one talented soul!
7:28 - KC you are so right. I am revisiting this video after many years as it’s much easier to transpose when you understand these principles of numbering the chords. This could be seen as an Em & Cadd2 but it’s much easier to play as an inverted C chord with an inverted G on top, even if your fingers overlap. Keeping it simple. Excellent 👌🏾.
Amazing! I understand it right off. Been playing a very long time, traditional, contemporary, praise and worship, quartet, hymns....But THIS...YESSSS!!! Thank you! I'm adding this to my stash.
I've been stumbling across some few chords like that, and they're just pure gold. Just so amazing, and especially when you find the right Electric piano, synth whatever to play it with, so that the chords emerge perfectly.
That tension sound when played over the A bass is crazy.. when played over the G bass that suspended sound is dope.. love this video still even after years of watching and listening and playing it.. works every time..
I was watching UA-cam in bed last night, and I fell asleep. This vid was playing when I woke up, and I thought I had been dreaming of heavenly music. So beautiful... I just watched this from the beginning (wide awake now) and I just love this SIMPLE concept! I always think of these types of chords in terms of extensions (that need to be spelled out when written or writing them as "slash" chords), but this is much more freeing and less "academic." Nice...
This is probably the best explanation on UA-cam, I’ve tried to find a proper lesson on this, and you’ve given it to me, awesome and super clear and interesting
This is just what I needed. I can hear these chords in songs, and now I know what inversions to practice. It’s like thinking in 2 keys at once. A great brain exercise. Thank you for posting this!
KC, You just completely blew my mind! I'm a hack keyboard player wanting to incorporate my left hand in my playing rather than just the root. I now understand your numbering system of the formula. This illustration and tutorial totally convinced me to buy your courses. I'm thinking Play Like You is where I'll start however, I'm looking forward to those Dirty Chords tutorials as well. Thank you for doing what you do!
Man I'm in love with your way of explaining things, I play guitar but do know basic stuff on inversions and voicing on piano. It's all very transparent, getting me more and more interested in playing piano. Thanks
Wow just wow, your talent is a blessing to all that listen. unfortunately I'm a guitar player so watching these videos too much will make me switch over lol but I'm still willing to try these moves. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hey KC I want to thank you for an exercise that is both challenging and at the same time engaging. Two patterns are occurring here simultaneously. First there is the alternation between the 5-1 and 1-4. Here's where the challenge comes in; the student has to blend that with the repeating pattern that goes root, first inversion, second inversion. Combining the two patterns is not intuitive. This is one that you have to keep coming back to. The patterns have to be practiced until they are immediately recognizable regardless of what octave they are played in. So, this is going to take some time. And yet I don't mind. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
basically the voicings are just superimposed chords perfect fifth above the the base chords and play with inversions. and modulations are based on common chords as pivot or modal interchange bVImaj7 and bIImaj7, and paying attention to top note motion. Ebmaj7 is bVImaj7 of G major. really simple but clever. there no limit to developing these things. Like modulating to VImaj7 (eg Ebmaj7 -> Cmaj7 -> Amaj7). I've been disciplining myself to formulas I found by hearing, learning youtube videos, and creating my own, to get things smooth. Thank you and keep sharing sir.. God bless
This is ridiculous. I live for these style chords, thank you! :) I love how they are technically 'major' but they have that suspended and unresolved, floating feeling (not major nor minor sound, kinda in between).. i love them!
I LOVE YOUR PASSION AND TEACHING! You just earned a new subscriber. I'm a beginner but you totally made this easy to understand. With some practice I'm gonna get this!!!
Awesome chords. I'm a veteran guitar player teaching myself piano "a much easier instrument" in many ways. When I hear these chords, Its instant euphoria! Nice work!
man you are so inspiring thanks so much bro, been learning piano for 9 years and want to go into this style of playing so much and you just made it so easy to understand
Thanks. Amazing Lesson. Am self taught. Basically play by ear. Was already playing bits and pieces of the 51 and 14 but you just gave me the missing piece. Thanks again. God Bless !!
Really helpful, and presented in clear, easy to follow manner. My only complaint with this (and all) of your videos is the spelling used by the software that displays the note names.. It is difficult for me to think of G flat as the third of a D major triad. I haven't gone to the keyboard yet, but I can already hear and feel how these stacked triad inversions are going to work. I'm lucky that guys like you enjoy helping us wannabes along our musical journeys. Thanks
Yes, but the way he voiced them was nice, especially the colour tones (adding the 2 to both "subchords" so the "51" was something like CDEGABD, so more like a Cmaj13). His use of grace notes here was great too, I'll have to incorporate some of that into my playing.
great video .. inversions are the most helpful thing for beginners.. if you can get fluid with your inversions then you can play much easier.. also playing melody by ear is dependent on using inversions i noticed when i learn to read Music that if you look at the right hand notes its usually just partial chords in different inversions
Great, great tutorial and beautiful chords brother. I've been studying Neo Soul & complex chords this entire month. Stepping my beat game and overall musician game up. Thank you!
Holy s... how simple it's math 'under hood'. When I hear this in complex chord, I can't determine which notes are in it, but when you explained it's math, it became so clear 😱
Such an amazing teacher, i can feel the genuineness and compassion. A great artist! I hope you won't change, and if you do, for the better. haha! God bless you sir.
Good chord study lesson; I like the concept of calling them infinite chords. However the chords are 9 chords (adding a 2 which is the 6th) makes the chord a 13th chord. So you can take any Major or Minor 9 (13) chord an get that same feel good feeling. Nine chords doesn't have to just go to the fourth, it can go to any chord and create such wonderful nuances and color and timbre. You can mostly here these chord structures in mellow and smooth Jazz music. The R&B group Earth, Wind, and Fire adopted this chord structure from Ramsey Lewis to color there music. C9(13) C-E-G-B-D-A F9(13) F-A-C-E-G-D
I really admire you and I have gone through most of your videos!!! Please could you teach me how to get start with jazz stuff, 'cause now I can only apply basic chords in my improvisation like C G Am Em F C F G and their inversions, the most i can do is 7th, 9th and 11th chords... I haven't made much progress for the past few years despite playing everyday and I am very desperate. I found my only hope when I discover your channel and I am really really hunger for those techniques. Please teach me, Master, please!
@prettysimplemusic Astounding. Nice job, I use these chords too! Haven't used the modulations much though. I will sit down at the board and perfect this. Thanks for your expertise in this area.
Hello. Thanks for a great video. What is the software you use to display the onscreen piano keyboard? I am trying to do a tutorial on merengue music and knowing this would be super useful. Thanks again.
I’m a music teacher for children and this the most easy lesson for building more complex chords that I’ve ever found!
Nice chords, thank you. Quick question, could you tell me which midi keys you're using for the top keyboard?
Thanks

OMG!!!!!! FINALLY!!! A playing style and chords that SOUND HOW I FEEL!!! Thank you sooooooo much for posting this!!
2 chords x 3 inversions x 12 keys = 72 new chords and this is the "simplified" version!
Great video. Thanks KC.

+heavenlydove1920 My pleasure!!! Thanks for watching... glad you could find some good use to it... :)
+prettysimplemusic so can you change keys in between feel good chords ??? Loved the tutorial
KC you're a champion bro, these tutorials are so good and helpful, and I love your heart man. keep it up!
I've been stumbling across some few chords like that, and they're just pure gold. Just so amazing, and especially when you find the right Electric piano, synth whatever to play it with, so that the chords emerge perfectly.
Sorry to ask, what kind of software you use to show what you're playing on screen? thank you....blessings....

Mate, this lesson is absolutely priceless! Gonna recommend you, definitely! Cheers, and keep up the good work!
Feeling really good just by listening to and playing with these awesome unique chords.
can someone tell me what program he is using to display the keyboard playing notes while he's talking?
One thing you didn't mention that I wish someone had told me:
Learn your chords in BOTH HANDS!!!
Good work, KC! ;^)
This is the most brilliant UA-cam music lesson I have ever seen

Just by listening to the intro i know i have to stick and watch through the whole video! I love how the lead solo goes "out"!
I LOVE YOUR PASSION AND TEACHING! You just earned a new subscriber. I'm a beginner but you totally made this easy to understand. With some practice I'm gonna get this!!!
I just love watching this. Wish all my teachers had been so positive.
TimeChopper Wow!!! Thanks so much for watching and for the encouragement!!! :)

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.. I PLAY IT ALMOST EVERYTIME I PLAY.🎹
What u teach is a blessing!

6:09 "Whew" Hahaha gets me everytime
Should do a tune with all those Whew's and Mmmmm's.
Gift of teaching doc...keep up the great work
I love these cords they do make you feel good when your down
So basically it's CM9, FM9/A, CM9/G, FM9, CM9/E, FM9/C then back to the top.
+James Dancer It's just two chords in inversions. Check Russell Ferrante
+AdamOuissellat
Outstanding reference . Been checking Russ out for over 30 yrs.
erik dennard Russ is the man

It took me 2 years to figure this one idea out. By the time I'm aged 523 I'll have the whole thing mastered.

Great, great tutorial and beautiful chords brother.
I've been studying Neo Soul & complex chords this entire month.
Stepping my beat game and overall musician game up. Thank you!
5 years old video... I've just discovered it now.
This is a great way to practice inversions.
absolutely AWESOME .. made me feel great just listening to the chords
For guitarists I came up with this:
(Strings 4-1) (low to high) CGBD-CDGB
(strings 5-2) (low to high) FCEG-FGCE
"Try it...you'll like it"
railcar123 thanks, added a few hammer ons and what not to spice it up and it sounds awesome.
I was bored with all that major chords.
But now I feel good!
Thanks!
I'm enjoying the Play it Now course and I'll be adding this to my repertoire!
oh my Goooodness...I AM IN LOVE! great tutorial for mind and soul, thank you Sir~!
i love chords like that!! i call them the relaxing chords
Maj9 and min9 chords always sound so good! 😀 great lesson 🙏
First chords you played made me go...WOW!!!! you got yourself a new sub!! Awesome stuff! Cant wait to use these chords into my music!
what kind of progression would you use this for
Thank you brother .. This helps especially in a mexican church.. change it up a bit. a little challenge to break the paradigm but we're doing it!!!
Thanks. I am a beginner and simply love your " slow " show me method .
you play style is so unique i like it

You're a wonderful player and teacher. Thanks so much.

Love these beautiful chords !,
Debra!! Thanks so much for your continued encouragement and support! ☀️💚
just a beatmaker/ producer that can't play piano passing through, so I can gather new knowledge and add sick chords to my bank. Thank you so much!
Thank you! I will definitely be using these "feel good chords" at my gig next weekend!
You are an excellent teacher...
I went to alot of different keys and it still sounds amazing.
Dude, you've really got me wanting to learn keys. I barely know anything about piano at all, but this is phenomenal sounding.

awesome... but the infinite chords aren't in this video... they are in another video series... these are not a part of the infinite chord sereis...
I been on youtube all night, this is what Ive been lookin for!!!!!
Lmbo! I thought I was the only one to be on here all night trying to find something catching.
Such a dope style and channel.
I really admire you and I have gone through most of your videos!!!
