What's great about the crap parts of Souls is that they still always manage to be the coolest thing you've ever seen. Shrine of Amana and Lake of Rot are gorgeous, Swamp of Sorrow is deliciously disgusting, and Lost Izalith is home to many a magnificent monstrosity. Alternatively they could be the new goofiest thing ever, like Capra Demon's signature broom closet gank, or The Great Hollow's pachinko machine of consecutive disasters. FromSoft is the GOAT of creating the worst time ever that you'll take with a big, stupid smile on your face.
I thought I was the only one who appreciated weapon durability in DS2. It's one of the few times in these games where the game actually incentivises you to carry and use multiple weapons.
One of my favorite parts of gank ape is that you can skip it entirely if you just happen to visit the village before its first encounter and can skip travel past the arena on revists. On first playthrough I did this by coincidence and ended up getting jumpscared after backtracking from the village and landing on its head. Easily among my most memorable experiences with Sekiro
I actually like Irithyll Dungeon and the jailers in DS3. I really dig how oppressive the place feels, and it's designed quite well. The jailers themselves are ridiculously cruel, and their mechanic of draining your max health on *sight* is very creative (and sadistic). Thankfully they're placed in such a way where you can always deal with them somehow. The final room with all those jailers at the end is bullshit, but hilarious. I think I managed to kill all of them once, but it's honeslty not worth it. There's a few more really good pranks the game pulls on you here, like the basilisk surprise gank or the infinite rats. Great area.
I'm glad the Gank Squad almost made it on here. Honestly, they might be my favorite puzzle boss in the series. As a 1 v 3 it forces you to consider the terrain and figure out how you can use it to your advantage in a way no other boss fight requires and it's much more fun than puzzles like "remember that heavy armor exists" or "spot the mohawk"
Mmm... Favorite underrated part of Soulsborne? Honestly, I don't know if this is underrated in the community, but the online of Dark Souls 2, especially in its prime. Spent hundreds of hours in co-op, PvP -particulary on the bridge of Iron Keep, making fight clubs and duels, and arenas- with both friends and randoms. Truly a splendid moment to be alive.
I will always stand by the fact that navigating the Tomb of the Giants with a skull lantern is actually very fun. If you've been breezing through hallways with your second hand shield, it's a fun challenge to alternate between holding up your light and ganking skeletons.
“Frozen Eleym Loyce is probably the best area in all of Soulsborne” I feel like you need a little more context to just throw that out lol. But that wasn’t the point of the video, so it’s all good. In fact I think I disagree with every DS2 take pretty heavily. The Living Failures section was great though, and wish you a merry Christmas! One I’d contribute is that Subterranean Shunning Ground is one of the best dungeons they’ve made. I much prefer how hard the maze is, and getting my favorite ending in all of Elden Ring.
0:52 I HEAVILY disagree with this. Item Burden is a perfectly fine mechanic. As someone who came to Dark Souls after games like Monster Hunter & Resident Evil, Item Burden functions as your Iventory limit and adds to your decision making and choices in the game, it makes it so you have to consciously care about what you're carrying around as you carve your way through this world, which has more direct gameplay implications of having you make decisions on which specific gear is useful? how much healing do I need/can carry? How much space should I leave for collecting? Etc. It makes you decide weather it's worth taking more weapons/gear at the sacrifice to your ability to collect more stuff, lest you go back to the Nexus your home base and drop off your haul, which also gives more value to the Nexus as a hub, as unlike all the other Souls games, Demons Souls levels are... levels, they're separate areas you teleport to and progress through linearly, with the only way back to home base being the Archstones, thus it very much makes it similar to MH in that you have a limited inventory, and you have to decide what you need, how much of it you need, and how much space you need to collect stuff, BEFORE you head out into the world, and since every Level/World in Demons Souls is unique and has unique attributes, you can change your inventory depending and optimize what you have on you, which also incentivizes you to clean up your inventory, as well as giving more value to Endurance/Stamina as a stat, and can give even more variance and identity to unique DeS builds. DeS is built very differently than all the other Souls games, and Item Burden definitely wouldn't work in any of the others due to their interconnected nature, but for the very level based, puzzle like, almost D&D style of progress and gameplay DeS has I think it works and serves a purpose like World Tendency (and honestly more than mechanics like the Health Cut in DeS & DS2 when you die, as realistically it just makes you have one less ring slot >80% of the time time and the already easiest two Souls games slightly harder/more frustrating.) Also Stockpile Thomas is Golden, and I wont let them take that from me. Really neat video, even if I think most of the encounters you mentioned are just... bad cut and dry, it's nice to see appreciation for the more esoteric, nonconventional, & experiential aspects of these games Merry Christmas.
@@raizekalos5721 I really wish I could play DeS for the first time again (true for all the games), esp with regards to item burden. It’s such an inconvenience now, mostly because I know the game so well that whatever planning has to happen between levels happened in my head before I started my run. So item burden is out of my mind until it pops up randomly. If anything, it’s kind of sad that part of why item burden seems to make no impact is because players, for whatever reason, don’t do the MH experimentation and planning that you describe in these games. People are weirdly stubborn with these games and item burden, sadly, seems to promote the hoarding that also burns people in Resident Evil (speaking of which: I’d love to see one of these games-maybe Nightreign?-try an RE4 use it or lose it inventory approach)
I think the most BS part about item burden is that if you pick up an item lying on the ground, realize you ran out of space, then drop it and come back after going to the Nexus, that item will be gone. Happened to me on my first playthrough with an armor set in tower of latria, and it was quite frustrating.
I love the Blight Town runout because even after playing the game a gazillion times it still manages to be stressful as hell sneaking out of there (or even scarier, trying to sneak out after sneaking in there early game to grab some mid game loot)
Finally, a fellow tomb of the giants enjoyer. I’ve always felt this area has never gotten its flowers in ds1, admittedly it’s not a perfect area, but it’s very unique and very memorable especially when compared to what it’s surrounded by in the 2nd half of the game
A new Bopper video about FromSoftware? I can't wait to watch it, especially since I have discovered I am deathly allergic to any footage of the 2024 video game Halluci-Sabbat of Koishi, developed by ZRIGN. This news has left me devastated, so I am excited to see something I can watch instead of the 2024 video game Halluci-Sabbat of Koishi, developed by ZRIGN. While the 2024 video game Halluci-Sabbat of Koishi, developed by ZRIGN, is a Souls-like game, I am confident that there will be no mention nor showcase of the 2024 video game Halluci-Sabbat of Koishi, developed by ZRIGN, within at least the first 17 minutes of this video, as this video appears to focus on games directly developed by FromSoftware as opposed to games that merely mimic their game design, such as the 2024 video game Halluci-Sabbat of Koishi, developed by ZRIGN. Thank you, Bopper, for releasing a video to fill the void created by my condition preventing me from watching or playing the 2024 video game Halluci-Sabbat of Koishi, developed by ZRIGN, and I wish you and Nin a RenMerry Christmas.
I find amusing the idea that, after enough time has passed after Dark Souls Weekend is done and someone encounters this video in the "distant" future, that person will think that I am insulting you with this xD. Also, 17:16 is cope. Merry Christmas, soon-to-not-be but still in my heart Professor Bopper and all who bothered to read this comment

If ancient wyvern didn't have a boss health bar, I think people would like it a lot more.

I love telling people that i love blighttown, and the immediate death threats i get from saying that.
Always great to remind the community that the souls games are more than just bosses!

Ah the one thing I was missing this Christmas: Booper talking about Souls. Thank you Bopper. Hope you enjoy(ed) the holidays!

I also wholeheartedly agree that the people from don't get enough credit for their humor. Their games benefit from it so much!
