One of the new truck trails connecting Squirrel Camp back to main camp had a couple of washouts. This one started as not a problem at all, but as soon as the first truck rolled the tires, the bottom completely fell out and was virtually impassable after that. A couple of cables were busted in the process of passing, but thankfully, no major carnage.

Better for the frame to hit then the axle. You realize how expensive the axles are these guys use when properly built? Full chromaly shafts, lockers (If done right.. not welded and a proper locker). You really don't want those axles smashing into something.. they arent built to take that punishment.

Reminds me of a long time ago in Royal Blue in East Tenn.. Bust ass through the mud all night on Saturday and all day on Sunday. Motorcycle, 4wheelers, big ass trucks we done it all. Miss those days a lot.

If you put lockers on a tire that big, you will snap an axle. Its not if, its when. You do not put lockers on tires that big

Its not about the axle breaking, its about poor the turning radius from having locked steer tires. Also the cost and problems of having selectable lockers on the steer tires that big are extreme for trail trucks.
What engine is in the Canyon? Doesnt sound like a V8 or even a V6... O_O

When I go wheeling I have allot more respect for the woods outside of the trails. A simple Harbor Freight $30 snatch block could have been used over trail blazing down all those trees. Using a snatch block over knocking down all those trees to the exact same spot a snatch block could have been used. Not sure if this is a privately run park or use of public land, but most parks do NOT want you to cut down or make you own trails. Total disrespect for the park and the sport of wheeling.

i dont get why they haven't designed some beefed up all wheel drive independent suspension for trucks those huge axles create some much drag it seems so stupid they haven't
There are no independent suspension axles that are beefy enough out there that could handle 40+ inch tires.....if they do exist they're a lot more expensive than these solid axle builds. Now I'm no expert, I just don't think you could run as big of tires on that kind of setup or as much power.
You can't if you push that much power with that big of tire you will snap cv axles unless you got 2 inch solid steel axle shafts
all that money invested and they don't put a locker in them kinda dumb u ask me just having a locker would allow a smaller truck with less ag tires go just as good

These are the dumbest vehicles since they are so completely misdesigned for the use that these guys seem to like to use them for. They are too high and too heavy for the support provided by the tires. It's simple engineering but they don't get it. A light vehicle with broad tires would just fly through these obstacles...
