It looks like the Citizen Tsuyosa is the best automatic watch under 300$ in 2023

- So I just checked the newer Citizen Tsuyosa editions and they are pretty amazing. In my opinion for less than 300 bucks Citizen is offering way more than Seiko, at least right now. The way I see it, the Tsuyosa is easily the best automatic watch under 300$/€ (or at least on of them) that you can buy.

Yes, Citizen is often overlooked. But, they make excellent watches!
And they still manage to keep the price reasonable 👏🏻
It wasn't until I was 68 that I purchased my first Citizen and now, I've got about 5 of them. They've really got a different type of appeal from other Japanese brands.
The rose gold NJ0153-82X has caught my eye. It's a statement piece at a great price. President bracelet, sapphire glass, see through case back and the list goes on. As you mentioned, the only gripe I have is the clasp. It should have been a hidden clasp like the day date but I'm not complaining.
Yeah, I also like it a lot as I'm a big fan of gold watches. I really hope they release a yellow gold version with a blue dial like the two tone blue dial submariner. It would be stunning in my opinion.
That fume dial is a stunner and although the 8200 doesn't hack and has been around a while they can be as accurate as any higher end movement (it can't be just mine) if regulated well , tho' a hacking alternative would've been nice but can't complain at what's on offer here, beyond that its all about availability & taxes.
Absolutely agree. I've always had good accuracy from the 82XX movement.
The new ones do hack, but hacking is a pretty much useless feature for a watch that gains or loses +-7 secondds a day
@@matyasd007 If the watch loses that much time, hacking would actually be the opposite of useless. I would say that's exactly why watches have hacking.
The red dial with the gold is classy. I got the green dial and can't stop looking at it. People must think I'm running late🤣. After one day it is +5 secs fast. Not too bad.
I want to get the gold/red, and silver/green one. I’ll call them Iron Man and Dr Doom.
These should be their nicknames 👌🏻😁
Damn that gold one with a red dial is beautiful
Exactly what I thought when I first saw it.
@@TheBoldHairspringwhat do you think now
Great review as usual Ivan!
I used to have one of these in yellow as well as a Maurice Lacroix Aikon and a Tissot PRX 40 mm and I have to say that this one had the better wearability of the three. At this price it's really a great watch !
That's nice to hear. I'm very pleasantly surprised with these. I didn't review them earlier because I didn't quite believe when everyone was praising them but I'm glad could I was finally able to check them out.
So now which one you have and which one sold?
@@vive928 I sold all the three (Tsuyosa, Aikon and PRX) and bought a Christopher Ward The Twelve that has the level of finishing of the Maurice Lacroix, the wearability of the Citizen and the bracelet of the Tissot, so for me it's the ultimate integrated bracelet watch. I'm very happy with it.
Bordo renginin metalini yapsınlar lütfen iletiniz. Teşekkürler. Saygılar.
I recently got the Tiffany blue version, it’s my new Summer watch. Also people think it’s a far more expensive watch when they first see it.
It sure the gives that impression. It's a tremendous value for money and I really hope Citizen continues the line-up.
got mine on saturday lovely watch
Congrats! Which dial colour did you go for?
@@TheBoldHairspring I went for the yellow one personally
@@markhudson1887 nice! I believe it's the most popular.
Hi I am pretty late to the party. Decided to buy a rugged blue texture model of the Tsuyosa and it feels way more expensive that it really is. Great video!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed watching. Great choice! The blue textured dial looks awesome as well.
I've got the NJ0151-88X and it is a stunner of a watch. Wear it everyday now and time keeping is spot on. I absolutely love it.
I own the Yellow, not showed here as these are the latest models, and after 1 year of use, is the favorite of my collection. By the way that gold/red looks very attractive.
When I did this video, the yellow model was out of stock. I believe it's the most popular out of the bunch 😊.
Turquoise dial please.
I got the yellow one and it´s nice. The clasp is really bad though and the bracelett could be a bit thinner. I´m also considering to remove the cyclops
Removing the cyclops sounds like an interesting idea. I guess you could also replace the clasp.
Yea I might do that when I can find one@@TheBoldHairspring
Sleek looking watch
Is each color dial limited to the year of production? Now that the Pantone color dials are out, are the older variants not produced any longer?
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I've been trying to figure it out but I can't find any official information. In Spain most of the colours are still in stock but in some AD they're sold out.
does the Citizen Tsuyosa rose gold stainless steel tarnish or do the color fade off with time ?
I don't think it will tarnish but it'll definitely fade away with regular wear just like most pvd surfaces.
Love the watch, hate the crown's placement
Too big ( 40 mm) to kill
Tiffany 😊
What is your opinions on citizen rose gold one ?
I love it. It's probably my favourite Tsuyosa.
Iwant. Red. How. Rupe
Waiting for them to do a gold on gold.
This is my next watch purchase, the only question for me is which dial I'm going to get.
Tough chocie 😅
All colors are perfect. Difficult to choise
I want one of these but not yet released in Australia :(
Perhaps you can order it from another country. Japan maybe? My AD has them out of stock right now :(
They look great. I'm off to see if they are available in the UK 👊
I hope you manage to check them out. They're even better in person 😊
Does the rose gold pvd color fade off ?
Is the rose gold variant gold plated or gold tone?
Hi! It's plated.
This watch is like modern, upgraded version of Seiko 5.
Never looked at it that way but now that you say it I can't unsee it.
@@TheBoldHairspring
It may be interesting that both Seiko 5 and CITIZEN TSUYOSA are not marketed in Japan market.
Perhaps, TSUYOSA may be CITIZEN's answer to consumers who have frustration against too old concepts of Seiko 5. And, Asian consumers are richer than before.
I purchased TSUYOSA 88M in Saigon, Vietnam yesterday, with price 6 million VND, or 250 USD. It's good as a better, upgraded Seiko 5.
Crown's placement is reminiscent of Seiko 5.
@@okinawapunter I'd pick the tsuyosa over the seiko 5 anytime as well.
how much 1price
They’re stunning wow 🤩
Yes hehe. Which one do you like the most?
@@TheBoldHairspring either the turquoise or red, I can’t decide! I feel like with the turquoise one, it’s more versatile with any outfit. With the red and gold, you have to dress accordingly for the watch
Nice video and very interesting watches, I really like the Tiffany blue 👍🏼👍🏼 not super fan of the recessed crown though.
Thank you! Now that you say it, I agree. The crown could've been a bit bigger.
Nice. Should have the 9015 engine with date at 6.
Mine doesn't fit perfectly
Certainly sleek watches... but honestly, they look like Chinese PRX knock-offs to me. Except that the Chinese would do a better job spec-wise.
In a nutshell: These are summer watches with funky dials. So that pressed clasp should really be milled and boast some microadjustment, especially since the bracelet can't be swapped. Also, for a summer watch, it should have a higher WR than 50m. Then there's the tiny date lens, no color-matched date wheel, no Swiss lume, non-hacking movement...
The Chinese are able to offer all of that for the same price. They increasingly come up with original designs, too. Traditional manufacturers like Citizen really need to up their game in my eyes!
Appreciate your comment and as a person who owns a bunch of Chinese watches and microbrand watches I definitely agree with most of your points. These Citizens are simply some very fun watches and for someone who doesn't like Aliexpress and other Chinese watches these can be a very good alternative.
The PRX is kind of a cheap knock off of the original SeaStar Quartz which was a cheap contemporary knock off of various 70s Omegas and Rolexes.
I actually really like the look of the Tsuyosa, I'd prefer it to the PRX if it was offered in 35mm, even if that meant that version was eco drive or something.
Throw some names of the chinese watches i should look at then :D
@@trailerparkboysbestshow3327 Baltany are great for watches with solid specs and a vintage look, Sugess do great dress watches, some of them being originals, Proxima offer several original designs (albeit kind of quirky at times), and San Martin are really the best of them all quality-wise. The vast majority of their line-up are copycat designs, but recently, they have been offering some original pieces with exceptional finishing and dream specs. Look for the turquoise dial GMT one, for example. Jody of Just One More Watch recently featured it on his channel.
Thank you for the vid. These 3 colorways are the ones I'm most interested in so it's such a hard decision 🥲
If you don't have a gold watch in the collection go for it ☺️.
@@TheBoldHairspring Thank you for the fast reply ! :) I already have a few gold Casio and the Seiko 5 Specialist so I think I'm gonna lean towards the blue ones. I don't know if Tiffany blue will grow on me but seeing the Rolex Tiffany always made me want one in my collection so we'll see haha.
How can I buy it from India?
Contact Relojeria Esparza and they'll walk help you. Their info is in the description of the video.
