The more my library grows the more I realize, it’s not the books you own.. it’s the books you read that matter. I have dozens of books I have yet to read yet I still am constantly looking for more lol.
Thank you for making this video, it was very interesting to see such a large but specialised collection. Would you be able to tell me the average amount of time you spend reading a day, and if you keep personal notes?
Monastic Stew - Thanks for asking! Before we had kids I read 50 to 100 pages per day. Now, having three boys my reading is down to 200-250 pages per week. But with consistency, a lot of material can still be covered. Sometimes I keep notes. They're usually just a running outline of main points and subpoints in the page margins. Knowing a book's or chapter's structure is really helpful for understanding its argument.
I read everything on kindle and online now because of my arthritis even though I have a physical library of over 3,000 books, which means I had to buy digital copies of books I already own.
I'll venture a guess that you have not read a fraction of those books cover-to-cover, making the bulk of the "collection" little more than a "reference" library.
Good "orthodox" library" i recomand Anselm "why God became man" he stress the notion of satisfaction for the justice of God and the model of good preaching is Spurgeon or Whitefield or Mccheyne ( they preach Christ ) the Substitute the penal substitution the revelation of Christ in our soul... thanks and be careful with philosophy
Most men haven't read most of their books. But yes, like what was aforementioned, reference books and Commentaries and dictionaries or language helps only get touched and barely skimmed upon.
That's a lot of knowledge to absorb! Amazing selection 😊
Wow, ancient books, those i need that, thanks for the info
I like your library, lots of Loeb and church fathers. I like Loeb and church fathers. :D

You have a Companion Bible! It seems to me that there aren't many people out there who have even heard of it.
A very fine library indeed. I share many of those books even though I am not a pastor.

Awesome video. Is Matthew's Bible worth getting or is the language too hard?
no apologetics books? WL Craig etc.?
Excellent library Pastor!
Do you think the Apocrypha is the word of God?
No
"If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need." Marcus Tullius Cicero.
Great library. Just imagine the cost of buying all these books. Some of those books are over $100.
Do you have a recommendation on your favorite Erasmus work?
I personally love to read his Adages and his Apophthegmata. The letters are always fun to peruse too!
Bad Erasmus bad.
Ouch.. that ‘Outside the Bible’ set looked very interesting... until I found the $350 price lol. I guess I don’t need to be that smart after all :)
Who is the author of the classical library series you have?
If you're referring to the Loeb Classical Library, it's by a number of various authors and translators.
At 1:31. A library would not be complete without the Loeb Classical Library books.

You only need one book that has comparative mythology so you can see where the Bible myths originated from
He's collecting many of the wrong books, I think.
Bad Erasmus, bad Aquinas, bad Augustine, bad philosophies more and more bad.
Doubtful you've read half of them.
You don't "read" reference books.
so?
