I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR ROOM!!! It has everything I love! Old books beautiful little history here and there! Ahhh it must be so refreshing to go into that beautiful room after a long day of stress and just read all those beautiful old books!❤️❤️❤️❤️
What a stunning room! And, oh, that desk! I never knew I needed a round desk like that, until now. It makes so much more sense than a square one, where you only use the small portion directly in front of you!
Yesica1993 Thank you for watching! I did like that desk a great deal, but I ultimately found that it didn’t meet my needs and sold it, replacing it with a more traditional antique panel desk. As a law student (and now lawyer and part-time professor) I found it just didn’t have enough surface space for my computer and books. The desk I bought not only has more surface space, but two large “pull outs” on each side for when I am doing some heavy duty research. I did love how the demilune desk looked, and do miss the esthetic, but in the end I needed something more functional. Check out my more recent videos to see the new desk (which I also think looks very nice) and other changes!
This is so beautiful! I so dream of having my own library one day! I'm a huge bookworm and I also love learning and research and have collected quite a few books over the years! Thanks so much for sharing your study with us, it looks so cozy and I love the old-fashioned feel to it!
Thanks for sharing! Very nice study. I dream of having something like that one day with the addition of my small pipe collection and fountain pen collection.
Awesome librarian study alongside a really professional explanation regarding history and real life experiences about your past ; i can tell you are one of the very few intellectuals breed that has been cultured; Have a nice pleasant years, Sir Sheriff!!!
Very nicely done. I have a somewhat similar set-up tho in a small space its in part of my living room. Just today, I was literally looking at a service photo of my grandfather during WW2 and the letter sent by the president upon his death. I am also in law school at present finishing my first year. Best of luck to you.
I concur. I have a large collection of Folio Society books. They are gorgeous and the highest quality. I need to make my own video of the titles, but I want to have them all in one room and shelving unit.
@@ThePegster30 I used to turn my nose up at Folio Society. I thought the older Franklin's & Easton Press books were the best because of the silk and gold page ends. My tastes have refined over time, and now I really appreciate the Folio Society as well. I wish all hardcovers came in slip cases. Not to mention the Folios "Special Editions." Wish I could afford them. Heritage Press also makes some quality books.. usually at a great price on the used market.
Oh my word. You were only to the second item that you were showing us, and I was already astounded by your collection. Incredible. Thank you for taking us on a tour of your gentleman's study. Subscribed and looking forward to learning more about your channel.
Thank you! Sorry for the delayed response, I was not getting notifications for some reason. I have updated quite a bit and added a lot to my collection and plan to do another video in the near future.
Just stumbled upon your video after starting out watching movie room tours then ended up in library videos. Very awesome setup, a lot of interesting things in your collection!
@@santoshd6613 thanks for asking, unfortunately I never got as far as I wanted but I did get a couple big classic looking shelves and I filled one of them about halfway with used books i found that I deemed suitable but right now it more or less looks like a normal home office so maybe being reminded of this will reinvigorate me to finish what I started 😂
May I ask about your desk? I wouldn't mind getting one myself for my lady's study ;) actually my partner and I share the same study, we just have two desks!
Thank you! I'm currently putting my own study together. It's currently more man-cave/home office but seeing your video really gives me some ideas regarding how I'd like to set my own up.
Actually, I have made significant changes and added some new editions. Over the Christmas holiday I pulled up the carpet and refinished the wood floors and have replaced most of the furniture with antiques. I will probably make another video before too much longer. Thanks for looking!
Cool Blackstone Commentaries set you got there! Too bad's it's falling apart. It's ex-library so that explains its condition. I wonder do you plan to have them rebound? I think that's an option and they won't lose the value if done well.
One the best book videos I've seen. I love the space! You did a great job. My one suggestion is to forego those B&N "leather bound" classics and upgrade to the genuine article - Easton Press editions. You might as well have the best. Many can be picked up for under $20 if you look hard enough.
There is so much that I love about this room! I am enamored of your half-circle reading desk. May I ask, sir, where you found it or how I could go about finding a small reading desk like it? It would be perfect for my "heavier" reading that requires some focus and concentration. Thanks for your video!
Thanks! The desk was actually a Craig's list find, and I thought it unique also. The term for that type of desk is a demilune desk. Perhaps you can find one in a search. I have since replaced it though, as it was a little small for my study habits. I now have an early 1900's oak panel desk. I hope to do another video before long.
I like those books from 1771. But don’t books or paper that old need to be in a sealed environment? Doesn’t room temperature and moisture in the air damage paper that old?
Sorry for the very delayed response - I wasn't receiving notifications of postings. In regard to your comment, not at all! With a couple of exceptions, most everything is thrift store / Craig's list finds.
I keep an eye out for old books whereever I go. Someone mentioned ebay, and I did find a couple that are in my collection there (especially if I am looking for something specific), but most are finds from antique stores and, believe it or not, thrift stores and good will. The early edition hound of the Baskervilles in the video was purchased for $1 at a local good will.
I am really a study kind of man, not a man cave kind of man. I love reading and am addicted to learning. I am not into sports at all. Thanks for the video
Thanks! I guess "gentleman's" study is a bit of a misnomer! It looks a good bit different now, as I have pulled up the carpet and refinished the hardwood floors, replaced the bookcases with real antiques, and replaced the desk with a real antique. I have added a lot to the collection as well - all on a small budget as well! I keep meaning to doing another video tour, and hope to soon.
Thank you! Absolutely on a budget - Almost everything was thrift store / Craig's list finds. I have since replaced most of the furniture with real antiques, but that was on a budget too. You just have to watch for bargains. For example, I purchased a three shelf barrister bookcase from Craig's list for $70. I spent a little more this time around, but it is still very affordable. I would say the entire room as you see in this video was done for under $600.
Yea a lot of presidents and politicians tend to have their secretaries sign things like that for them so it's probably his secretaries signature but hey you never know it could be his actual signature but like you said a nice gesture either way. Nice study, love the books in your collection I am a big reader and will read just about anything.
I see three stars on the spine of your copy of _The Crossing._ The _other_ Winston Churchill, the author of the six-volume _The Second World War,_ also happens to have three stars on the spine of his third volume, _The Grand Alliance._ (Not that this information would be the least bit useful to anybody.)
Ahhh, it is so refreshing to see a "gentleman's study", neat, serene with books instead of a "man cave" with posters, xbox and beer cans.
What bill said why not do both
Comments like this kinda makes me lose my faith in humanity
Nothing wrong with having either. I enjoy reading but also enjoy gaming or more "childish" hobbies. Is that not allowed?
agree.
He just said it's refreshing because it's a bit different, there's no suggestion that it's wrong to have "man cave."
Woah! This study is beautiful! Amazing design.
Thanks!
Such an old post, but I absolutely adore you! I'm female but adore masculine studies and precious books!
Doesn’t matter what gender you are
Excites and warms my heart to see your beautiful library. Enjoyed your video very much, very nicely done indeed. Thanks for sharing.

My man dear sir have you surpassed your self such beautiful collection of Old Lincoln's ❤❤❤❤ yours truly in honor ❤love from Australia.Clay

Wow! What a random but excellent recommendation from UA-cam. Beautiful room!

I also love seeing what others underline or notes they add in second hand books
Nicely done…..very encouraging that reading has many facets and is also popular with literature men. Thank you for your great presentation.
Wow, eye candy for a book lover. You have an amazing collection, beautifully displayed....thank-you for sharing it with us.
Sir you hit a home run with this study. This is 3 levels of cool!
This is a beautiful room! Thank you for taking the time to share it with us.
OMG.....I am ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSED 💯 👌🏽 your study is just AMAZING 🔥👏🏽💖
Also, I was raised in the South and adore your accent and love of books!
Thank you!
Perfect place for scotch and philosophy with a good friend
Thank you for sharing your gentleman's study with us. It is wonderful
Thanks for sharing! Very nice study. I dream of having something like that one day with the addition of my small pipe collection and fountain pen collection.
This room is absolutely awesome! Love every part and detail....well done sir, well done indeed
Great collection! I will have to visit more garage sales.
This was enthralling, along with the second video. Thanks for sharing!

Nice library, the Folio Society have some rather good books if you want to look into expanding your collection.

I love how you try to find out about the previous owners. Beautiful room!

Nice classy room. EPIC desk.
Also, I've been kicking myself for a couple years for not getting that Narnia leatherbound when I first saw it at B&N. I missed out there.
I know what you mean....I know lately they have reprinted some books, but I don't know if the Narnia volume is one of them. Thanks for looking!
Great study. I like the whole vibe and would have no problem reading in that room. I think I need an electric fireplace for mine as well.
Love my fireplace! Thanks!
Just stumbled upon your video after starting out watching movie room tours then ended up in library videos. Very awesome setup, a lot of interesting things in your collection!
Thanks!
Very nice ! I knew you had to have a Sherlock Holmes collection !
Absolutely - that's what got me started!
Beautiful study, I’ve wanted to make one of my own for a while now but I finally have the space to do it so I’m starting my own collection
So how's it going???
@@santoshd6613 thanks for asking, unfortunately I never got as far as I wanted but I did get a couple big classic looking shelves and I filled one of them about halfway with used books i found that I deemed suitable but right now it more or less looks like a normal home office so maybe being reminded of this will reinvigorate me to finish what I started 😂
I love it, nice and old school. Classy, sophisticated, calming.
This is like my dream office/study. It’s gorgeous
Beautiful library room....its super
definitely taking some inspiration when I build my one.
Wow! Very impressive and relaxing.
Wooooww! This is inspiring. I like also how it has a very personal touch and it's not just books. It's also about the history of the books.
May I ask about your desk? I wouldn't mind getting one myself for my lady's study ;) actually my partner and I share the same study, we just have two desks!
Beautiful room! From another fan of books and Lincoln.
Thank you! I'm currently putting my own study together. It's currently more man-cave/home office but seeing your video really gives me some ideas regarding how I'd like to set my own up.
I enjoyed your video tour of your study.
Thank you!
You are welcome!
That looks fantastic! Have you made any more additions in the past couple of years?
Actually, I have made significant changes and added some new editions. Over the Christmas holiday I pulled up the carpet and refinished the wood floors and have replaced most of the furniture with antiques. I will probably make another video before too much longer. Thanks for looking!
that would be awesome!
Very nice sir! Came here for some ideas, well done!
Love the Books! I wonder if the name in the Lady's Book (handwritten) is "Washburn"?
Could be - hard to tell.
Definitely Washburn...
Great to see this !
I've around 1500 rare books in my collection.
(Mostly in storage)
I'm envious !
How do you obtain all of them ?
This is a great inspiration. Thank you
Cool Blackstone Commentaries set you got there! Too bad's it's falling apart. It's ex-library so that explains its condition. I wonder do you plan to have them rebound? I think that's an option and they won't lose the value if done well.
That chair and desk are beautiful. Could I ask where you picked it up?
They were both a Craig's list find.

Thanks!
this is awesome thanks for sharing!
An absolutely beautiful study!
Awesome room. Sometimes the algorithm actually recommends good stuff for me.
What color is that on the wall? I like the vibe you have going in your nice study.
Love it, very nice.
Thanks!
Amazing place.

@ sheriffguy Have you read all four volumes of William Blackstone's "Commentaries"?
I have, they are incredibly informative.
I'm a girl and I would love a study just like this. God bless
Very cool!
Classy study!
Beautiful study room. Looks pretty expensive though
Sorry for the very delayed response - I wasn't receiving notifications of postings. In regard to your comment, not at all! With a couple of exceptions, most everything is thrift store / Craig's list finds.
Where do you get these old books? I've never found stuff like this before, are they more common on the East Coast?
Ebay is a good place for old books.

Excellent! Thanks.
the books is so beautiful
My goal is to make my office into a study im 22 and im trying to bring back the old ways.
enjoyable and inspirational!
My grandparents had one of the little brass lamps and I broke it ;(
Nice video. 14:25 loud beep for headphone users.
Sorry - I videoed with my phone and got a call while doing it - not intentional!
thank you for warning me
So it is real
Nice tour. If you don't mind me asking, what SO and law school? Fellow Ga cop here.
Cool - I would rather not publish that here, but email me at sheriffguy170@gmail.com.

Nice study and you do appear to be a true gentleman.
time travelled too fast.
2015 to 2024
aahh .
Have you ever thought of selling one of the beauties ?
I have sold some of the furniture but not the books. Most everything is Craig's list finds or thrift store.

You have MANY leather-bound books and it appears the room smells of rich mahogany.
Check out Ron-Likes-History on ebay! My father sells tons of old leather bound books!
I'll check it out!
