  • The star of this year's Parisian Distinguished Gentleman's Ride leg: an English masterpiece known as the Ariel Square four. Edward Turner rose to fame in the biking world for his initially bonkers design: two counter-rotating crankshafts. Having been rejected by BSA, Ariel took a risk on his idea. It turned out to be a work of pure genius, and is coveted by collectors to this day. The 1956 Mark II model seen here took 8 years to piece together.

The Distinguished Gentleman's ride is a celebration of the spirit of motorcycles: a close-knit community, beautiful roads, and most of all, some of the world's most stunning vintage and modern engines. More than that, though, it's got an excellent cause at heart: fundraising for prostate cancer. In 2019, it takes place on the 29th September.
