it looks like Alesis has discontinued AND deleted all software and manuals for this unit, A friend traded me for a different Item and I need to know how to set the MIDI Channel to connect to my Main Keyboard. Sad the don't keep the old information and downloads. on their site

This is great, brother. I was wondering if you have any info on how to set up
the Vortex Wireless to send program change info in Ableton. Any info from you would be greatly
    appreciated. Thanks.

Sadly, Ableton does not process Program Changes, From Vortex or anything else. Use have to use a utility (Bome's Midi Translator,THEPEZ) to transform the PCs into Control Changes, Notes or something, that Ableton can process.

Hey +Robert Turenne. Thanks for the reply. I figured out a way to trigger program change in Reason. That works for me. Thanks again.

Hey Casey. I have discovered something that works for me but it is not perfect. I use Reason 5, and it has a function called REMOTE OVERRIDE MAPPING. This is what I do. Hopefully you find it helpful. Set up a REASON session with patches that I would use at a gig. To program a function, to to OPTIONS -> ADDITIONAL REMOTE OVERRIDES. Double click a function (for example, TARGET PREVIOUS TRACK, TARGET NEXT TRACK, etc). Check the box that says LEARN FROM CONTROL SURFACE INPUT. Press a drum pad. This will assign that function to the specific drum pad. Every time you hit that specific pad it triggers the desired function. I use this to navigate between patches. Its not perfect but I have found it to work for my gigs.

I'm still having difficulty getting this to work. I use reason 9 but its all still there. I follow these steps but it still doesn't change the program. Any thoughts?

You might want to read the detailed manual that I wrote. It should apply to the Vortex 2. practicalusage.com/alesis-vortex-manual-functional-description-and-midi-programming-guide/

Okay! I have a new question. (What's new, eight months later and I'm still trying to figure my vortex out) So how in the heck do I change the sensitivity of the aftertouch? Or is it the velocity? Anyways, anytime I'm using a voice in Logic, it seems like I have two choices: really quiet or barking loud. I am playing my keyboard normally and all of a sudden I'll use a little more pressure and get an awful different sound that is typically extremely loud. I don't want to have to be so cautious about the pressure I'm using, I just want the damn thing not to be so sensitive.

      Hello Kelly,
The AfterTouch cannot be modified directly on the Vortex. You will have to find the proper velocity curve for your style of playing. You could probably use some parameters in Logic, but I don't know how to do it. I use Ableton most of the time. I do have to modify the key response in Ableton when playing the Vortex (or most of my other keyboards) but I can't transfer that knowledge into Logic.

practicalusage Just an idea: try to find how to put a limiter in Logic. In Ableton, I can modify the Midi values and limit the maximum value, for example at 100 instead of 127. I also have a particular curve that translates any Midi velocity into the 80-100 range for a more even play.
