The HS7s sound more balanced, but you can hear into the mids more so with the HS5 and they're nice and open, so possibly better for mixing perhaps? They seem to be forgiving of placement too, so you can reinforce the bass a bit that way by setting close to a rear wall. Plus, if you need more bass, add a sub!
I use the HS5's with a sub and I have the ARC 3 room correction active pretty much always. So would it be pointless to upgrade to the HS7 in this scenerio do you think?

The lower mids are often problematic because that's where keyboards, drums, percussion and bass tend to reside. If a mix isn't balanced, it can sound very muddy and congested. Having good monitors that are neutral sounding through the mids are essential for good mixes.
If we take into account some loss of true sound over the mic they sound pretty clean and true to form. Also great comparison, best I've ever seen on UA-cam
pretty fair but, i have hs5 in my studio and the original track is not so thin as in this demo. I compared the hs5 recording on headphone (akg 702 with calibration) and original track on hs5. basses are way more present than the demo.
I had both the HS5 and HS7. The HS5 had no bass, while the HS7 bass is not quite full. Both of them need a sub. The HS8 is good enough without a sub. HS5 has a much more 3D mids than HS7. But the treble is quite fatiguing. I ended up keeping the HS7 and a HS8S sub.

Rocky Ha. 3D-ness here means the vocal pop out from the rest. I think the HS5 is very good for analyzing the vocal during mixing. I my opinion, all these speakers are best for studio use, not so great for audiophile

not much different, just a little more bass on hs8, I was from hs7 then hs8, but now my setup is hs5 with hs8s, it's a great combo, now everything is the same as the original track, just what monitor speaker should be, and go check sonic sense pro audio channel, it's the best channel about speaker and headphone monitor comparison, with their highly expensive and precise gear to do the comparison, help us a lot to know which one suit for us 👍
I'm hearing with HS5 and HS8S and found original sound is rather different not only in low frequency but also in mid range, starange! By the way, I strongly recommend for PC audio with my confguration of HS5 with HS8S, this provided far more satisfying low end than only with HS7.

@@RockyHartono For vocal sound every speakers have enough quality. HS5 with HS8S suite for listening front of PC and HS8 with HS8S suites for listenning in the room around 30 square meter. HS7 might be between them but rather difficult to choose.(my name was changed)

7 have more presence so to speak. Deeper bass. But other that same sound. The 5s with a sub would be good for more bass. But you still here the bass in the 5 they just don't have the presence.

@@ChrisBessy oh usually i just put the volume on the back of speaker yamaha hs8 to maximum, then i control the volume through Windows on my PC.. so basically i just set the volume on yamaha hs8's back to maximum all the time.. n controlling the actual volume of music just on my pc ( Windows volume on right bottom of the screen )
Where is the low? From the original track. It sound so different. But the high is perfect, and i think that the HS7 give a better High and Mid. More clear.

Had the choice between Adam A7X or Yamaha HS7's.. Chose HS7 and i regret it so much. Mids and Highs are perfect but where the fuck are the lows? I mean i switched from fcking KRK Rokits 5 G3 and got better results in my mixes than now. Hope my ears will get use to it because I have them for a week.
Rokit 5 enhance the low end and do give an accurate representation. I use to have those also then I got the Yamaha hs7 . The hs7 have a flatter response but I mix my bass on my dt770’s headphones. Unless you buy a sub then that will work perfectly . You can also get the hs8 which require no sub .
The tiny one got the mids and lost the bass, it's like yelling and having no authority, just like an unstoppable wife, the biggie got the bass and lost the mids like a grandfather, having authority without having to yell, but, who takes in serious grandfather anymore so we listen to T7V's.
@@legervoile Adams have a lot heavier bass and it has a Ribbon. What kind of music are you listening to? Electronic? Go with the T7Vs, "real"? Alias classical/Rock, stuff with instruments in it? Go With the Yamahas
HS5 with HS8S. Or. HS8 only. Both HS5+HS7 drop off a cliff in the low end. Use the small speaker and fill the low end in. Easy. Though would be bsst to use HS8 with HS8S😁😁😁😁😁. Cut off the bass and fill it with HS8S for huge sound.
Thank you, I'm trying to pick a good soundbar eliminator for TV watching :) May wish to try a different measurement position and stand height to moderate the upper bass suckout and bring up the low end which, regardless of the graphs, appears to be rolling off with no near boundary reinforcement. Noting from the HSY and ADAM comparo, most freqqency variations appear to be room modes givin that the tracese overlay for the most part. When I did speaker recording decades ago I gave up on the room and took it outside. Not very practical in the Winter, if you have that season. Thanks again! - Sandy

You're not wrong. But the louder you go, the less bass you get. So unless you're listening to them on the highest volume, i don't think you will notice a difference.
Stop diluting yourself like i have, these almost match the enhanced speakers, and the 5" sound the exact same except there's less body than the 7" .I'd rather pay more than get fooled into saving KALI SAVINGS, AND GET WHAT I'M GOING TO REALLY HEAR ! sory but no. i have the hs7 and i tried the hs5. very not the same sound. hs5 has a bump around 1kHz and more open highs. the hs7 is more flat but with a clinical sound. the stereo is more open on the hs5. (maybe too much). working with the hs5 was horrible for my ears (pain after 20min).

I like the size of the HS5s and the sound of the HS7s or HS8s. HS7s are big though, and HS8s are HUGE!
