    Very nice. Nebraska is deceptively beautiful. The Sand Hills between Alliance and Thedford are stunning. So is the Pine Ridge area in the NW corner.

    I visited Scottsbluff and most of Nebraska.
    Nebraska is lovely state - very underrated. Scottsbluff National Monument is well worth a detour.

    It was 2016 Me and a friend were running cars for one of the local car dealerships, it was 1:00 am. We both separated from the pack and just gunned it the whole way. I was in a ford, he was in chrysler. A cop was sitting right there behind the berm 6:10ish- 6:11ish and clocked us both. I got on the 2 way we had and told him to "Gun it all the way to scoblo, we got clocked." The whole way my speedo is bouncin off 120-125 till i got off at the exit. We arrived at the dealership dropped off the keys and left. We never got busted. Dealer asked questions but never did anything, It was fun.

    Thanks for this video. This is a highway I didn't know much about, so I appreciate getting in to see it virtual on your ride. I particularly like how the flat plains give way to the rock formations and hills as one approaches Scotts Bluff.

    Wow what a great drive up that way from Kimball! I’ve seen some videos of Scottsbluff and Gering. That was neat to see! Almost reminds me of the Black Hills in southwest South Dakota! I’ve never been there yet either. I sure appreciate this video Kyle! Another great one! Have a great week ahead! Mark in Iowa.

    Every state in the union has nice scenery albeit one may have to take the "off the beaten path" in order to see them. This is esp so in the Great Plains as there's not much to see if you're just driving on the Interstate highways.
    Can't wait to see your visit to Scotts Bluffs National Monument in the next video.

      I remember US 385 between Alliance and Chadron being really scenic from a family trip when I was young. Of course, if you keep heading north on US 385, you get to the Black Hills, which I can’t remember if Kyle has covered. I think the pigtail tunnels they use there instead of hairpin turns are really interesting.

    Did you get a chance to view the night sky out there, Kyle? I swear, on a clear night the Milky way galaxy shines so bright that it almost can cast shadows. Might have been my imagination but I really do think that is a view and a surprise that a lot of folks never get to experience.

    Lots of highways in Nebraska are also expanding to 4 lane highways too especially in the eastern half of the state connecting 20,000 towns to each other

    If you had continued going further north you would have run into Agate Fossil Beds National Monument as well as Toadstool Geologic Park (I am not sure of its exact name). Both of them look REALLY cool on Google Earth! 😁

      That sounds amazing! I always wish I had more time to visit certain areas when I'm on these trips.

      Toadstool Geologic Park in northwest Nebraska is probably the most fascinating area in our state. Agate Fossil Beds NM is a nice place. Although, I climbed to the top of one of the rocky buttes and was overwhelmed by mosquitoes. The fossil beds are interesting. Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park (in northeast Nebraska) is a little bit better in my opinion. Also, the most significant fossil beds are next door to Toadstool at Hudson-Meng: www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/nebraska/recreation/recarea/?recid=10621. I live in eastern Nebraska and have showed pics of Toadstool to family and friends. They always think it's someplace in Wyoming (next door).

      www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/nebraska/recreation/recarea/?recid=10616
      Toadstool is located within the Oglala National Grasslands, so it's actually managed by the US Forest Service, Pine Ridge Ranger District: www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/nebraska/recarea/?recid=10615. Our Nebraska National Forest is full of pine trees and cacti. Not what one would think of when considering Nebraska.

    Not "jerry" but Gering (Gear/ ing) pronounced

  • @RarefiedError
    @RarefiedError 10 місяців тому

    Dude, you mispronounced Gering, the first G is the same as graphic/gorilla etc.. Used to play against Gering and Sidney in highschool sports.
