      Walking around nyc tripping after a msg show there was no fear of violence anywhere but now even going to dinner in little Italy is a scary proposition. So sad.

    I was at this one, 7.50 tickets. I was at the one for sandy Alexander’s benefit ( president of the hells angels on 3 rd street) his kid fell out of a window and they were trying to get the medical bills paid . Place was packed with members, show let out and the sun was coming up on 14 st. That hells angels vibe was awesome.

      @jimpowell6789 Рік тому +2

      Yes, this a first rate audience master from Jim Wise, a key taper in the NYC area from early on -- he knows how, as you can hear. He had his mics right in the sweet spot for this one, and Jerry obliges. The Palladium, a small hall with excellent acoustics that helped him do it, was formerly called the Academy of Music when the Dead played long runs there in March '72 and April-May 77.

    I was at this show, first JGB. After seeing this, I realized JBG is way better than GD. Never went to see GD again.

    • @eletricnaneland352
      @eletricnaneland352  Рік тому +3

      Lol! Jgb better indeed, but why not see both?!

    • @jimpowell6789
      @jimpowell6789 Рік тому

      The two bands are very different, complimentary. Jerry said JGB is “a band that has this thing of consonance.... This band represents an amazing agreement. By contrast, the Grateful Dead represents amazing disagreement in terms of everybody having tremendously different ideas about music. But that’s interesting for other reasons. This gets us all off in the same way. When the Grateful Dead gets off, everybody gets off differently.” The other thing is, with the Jerry Band, Jerry goes deep all the time. Which is a big plus. But I'm with Elaine, the best thing is to see both -- or now, listen. For instance, check out the Dead's show at this same venue 3/28/72.

    • @staggerlee4979
      @staggerlee4979 Рік тому +1

      Nobody got in Jerry's way in JGB. He could solo like a free bird without Bob's crazy chords holding him back. And I'm sure the Dead were not a smoothly run democracy. Phil, Bob Mickey, Billy all have big egos. Brent probably was the only one who stayed out of all the BS. JGB was Jerry's therapeutic retreat from the Dead and his playing was so much smoother and cleaner. Better than the Dead by far.

    • @jerryakbar6147
      @jerryakbar6147 5 місяців тому

      Therapeutic ? Maybe, he also needed the money, he had a lot of bills to pay. Which reminds me of an old joke from around this time. It went Stella Blue ? She needed the money…. Great show keep them coming, no pun intended.@@staggerlee4979
