Wait what.....you cut away from the why is my motorcycle running part? It was like a Scooby-Doo mystery....only after the commercial break the bad guy was in jail and the kids were all eating scooby snacks. Shaggy how'd you solve the mystery?

I put the same ignition and jets in my '98 Road King last year. Good choice. I have Mustang seats on my bikes, also. I rode from Alabama to Washington State and back on a 2002 883 Standard comfortably and 2 trips to Colorado on the RK. 72 years old and the best seats I've ever had. Evos forever!

Yep, I was thinking Crane Hi 4, which is really nice, I have one on my shoveled, which I built after I sold my 96 springer which I waited 2 years for and bought new. Been there, done that. lol. You'll appreciate the seat on long trips.

I think it cool that you get to know and touch every part of your bikes I'm the same way. I've had other people work on my stuff and regretted every time. If you want it done right do it yourself.

I would stay with the HD 360 oil . Harley has used 20-50 for decades and works great. Stock EVOS have almost no engine noise over the exhaust. Sure somebody hasn't stuck solid lifters in it. I've been an HD tech since we took on Harley in 1976. I have a 1989 heritage Softail and EVO motors were always my favorite.

When you use the heavier weight oil, be sure to use the less restrictive oil filters that are at least 21 microns for 20W/50 and preferably 30 microns for the 60W. The 5 micron filters plug up earlier and go into bypass, filtering nothing. The EVO engines like low restriction.
    Another great video.

same bars as my shovel. I did so many evos when I was working, I have a nice recipie for making it go faster. I have installed many different kinds of ignitions the Compu Fire is what sparks my shovel these days. Seen some funny factory stuff on the first Evos when they used up last years parts. . I think that the 1996-1999 Evos were the best and worry free riding. The basic reason I like those years is the handle bar controls are nicest. Ride on !

I’ve had my single fire Compufire on my evo for over 20 years. And I bought it used. Best ignition ever. And I’ve had them all. The regulator is the best as well.i run a 22 amp stator On a 32 amp regulator . Chargers fine , You never have to worry about your ignition again.

Great old bike, think that was the precursor to the Deluxe. There was also a bike called a Moo Glide that Harley made in limited production. I think it was a FLSTN also. Saw your video when you traded your twin cam and I said I gotta follow this guy, he's as crazy as I am cause that is something I would do. My bike is only worth what someone will give me for it and if I found something I liked and it was lesser value but I really dug it I'd pull that trigger in a second. Anyway, keep up the good work mate.

Here in oz, up north, where it is always hot even in winter ,i run an oil cooler and thermostat and run penrite HPR 20w60 diesel oil all the time. The additives in the diesel oil clean all that carbon crap up extremely well, give it a go. I've got 2 fxr's, a 1988 fxrs-sp and a 1993 fxrs-convertible with a '96 roadking top breather carb motor and gearbox, evo are the best Harleys ever made, and i wouldn't swap for anything else. believe me the oil cooler is a waste. I put one on my Heritage and then I got to thinking. This is an air cooled engine, When is going down the road, it is cooling just fine. Idling is helped some. I check mine with a temp gauge and you get about 20 degrees different. I would not put one on the bike. As far as the oil, I ran Castrol 20-50 for over 60, 000 miles with NO issues. You will find the 5 speed makes it feel a little rough but noise is the Evo way. You have a good bike here. Not a new one.

FYI I had 5 Heritage classics and always used 20 / 50 just saying aka I don't think the noise is cuz of the weight of the oil

So is that a heritage classic and is it the standard 1340cc engine? If so how is that engine across country lugging that weight two up?

I to have a 2010 fatty which I have just finished a rebuild on. Along with a sporty which is a bit of a bitza. You know bits of this bits of that. 84 frame with a 94 evo. Got it so I can get a 200 in the rear. I want to rake it out but I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to welding. Also the trail, trying to figure all that out.
