People have criticised Naas Botha for his kicking. From what I've seen he only ever kicked for points, territory, or tactically to put pressure on the opposition Full back. Every kick was designed to lead to points accumulation - I can't see anything wrong in that and probably why South Africa and Northern Transvaal were so successful when he played.
Funny that rugby has become so patterned and predictable as a game, that the only real excitement nowadays is hoping Japan or Uruguay can upset someone on the day. It has lost so much of its flair and its flow since it went full professional, that I just can't watch it anymore. I played 18 years of rugby in the 70's to early 90's. But I am finding the modern game basically unwatchable. I like cricket better now. It's the same game at least as it always was.
