I absolutely loved your adventure, and I thank you so much for taking us along. I grew up in Munising, following my Native American relatives who’ve lived on Grand Island and the surrounding area for hundreds of years. During college I worked for the Pictured Ricks National Lakeshore and took every opportunity to get to Chapel by foot or boat. I’m so grateful you guys had the chance to experience the paradise of Alger County and the Pictured Rocks. Next time, you’ll have to enjoy some of the homemade maple syrup that my family still produces in a little plot that you passed on your drive to Chapel Road.
What a beautiful life you’ve lived!! We did the bike loop on Grand Isle and it was superb! You’ll also enjoy this Thursday’s episode as begins in Munising 🤗 And 1000% we must try your family’s homemade maple syrup for pancake night next time 🤤🥞

The North Country trail section that you guys hiked is actually a piece of the entire trail from Vermont all the way through to North Dakota. I know a couple people that are about 100 days into a through hike attempt of it right now. .. It's cool to see you guys enjoying the great parts of my home state.

We were at Pictured Rocks at the same time at Miners Beach. Definitely when we go back going where you were. Absolutely gorgeous! Lake of the Clouds in Porcupine Mountains is something you would love also.

Your videos have brought back s many childhood memories camping all over Michigan with my grand parents. Even your trip to no where. We went from Lake Michigan to Lake Superior on one of those back wood trails. My grandpa was quite the adventurer. The horse flys have always been bad. One summer we had a cabin in Wilderness State Park on Lake Michigan shore and could hardly swim because of the flys.

The trees with the big bent trunks/large limbs, like the one at 8:37, were created by Native Americans to mark trails or directions to villages. They would bend young saplings and then stake and tie them so they would grow that way.

Oh my goodness you lucky ducks!! You got permits and you get to experience the entire trail with friends! We loved that area, stayed in Munising for about 2 weeks just spending our days parked at the waterfront (aka office with a view 🥰). 1000% go to the Falling Rock Cafe and try/buy a bag of the CHERRY COFFEE. We are so excited for you!

Two days later I wouldn't have been able to do it it's crazy. Anyway thanks for sharing your adventure. I just stumbled across your channel I am now subscribed and will be watching much more. I realize you guys are probably long gone from the area by now, but the name of the park comes from the cliff faces that line the shore that are visible from the water. Preferably by kayak, so you can land on the many little coves at the base of the cliffs. Warning; sometimes the cliffs do shed! The easter egg colored rocks there are beautiful. The cliff faces are stained by the minerals leeching out in hues of white, orange, red and yellow. Hence the name "pictured rocks" You can't really get a good view of them on land.. imo. There are or were arches you can paddle through last time I was there in the 90's

This is actually Lake Superior. They were at Lake Michigan earlier but Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is on Lake Superior.

@@Mrandmrsadventure Well we are in North Bay for a couple weeks and can’t say we have experienced any noticeable smoke up here but there has been some rain so that may have helped. Beautiful up here tho, Lake Nipissing is so pretty. 🥰

Love your walk it brought back some great memories. We were there in 2009 and it was a great time. They also had a little restaurant where we had a pasties, little meat pockets, that were so good. Usually we have P&J on hikes and I try to get pictures of all the places we eat them. They also have a great boat tour that we enjoyed. TFS
Oh wow, I was just there last weekend. Thank you for sharing your footage. You captured it beautifully...and you found agate! I tried to find some but couldn't. Never heard of Pictured Rocks before and have lived in Michigan my whole life. I'm from Metro Detroit and work in Detroit so was very different, but beautiful views. Except when we were trapped on the trail at dark in a thunderstorm trying to get to Sandpoint beach from the Munising Falls Visiting center. I was scared for my life. We saw a sasquatch marking....I'm out of touch but didn't realize sasquatch was a thing in the upper peninsula. There weren't many people on the trails. But we just drove the the beach next day. The beaches are so beautiful. I prefer them to ocean beaches. We took the boat cruise to see pictured rocks and it was a great way to see them. It looks like you were able to get close up and take some great footage. Unfortunately, that day someone got too close to the edge of Miners Castle, slipped, and died. That really put a damper on the whole trip for me. We also went to Tahquamenon Falls after (about an hour and a half drive from Munising) and did the hike from the upper to lower falls. That was really beautiful, only about a 4 mile hike each way. For us it was a rugged trail....there were not many people on the hike. Most people seemed to drive from one of the Falls to the other. I was just hoping to see more people on the trails because I'm a wimp. I'll have to check out your other videos....if I saw your video before going to Pictured Rocks I would have done it differently.

Pictured Rocks is one of my all-time favorite hiking spots. The backpack trip from Munising to the east end and back is really an adventure. I really hope to get back there this year at least by the fall color time. Thanks for doing this adventure, let us know how the boondocking opportunities are.

@@Mrandmrsadventure I slept in a lot of those great Michigan Roadside Parks sprinkled all along the roads. That was when I traveled in my SUV, now I have a 23ft class c and might get a little more flak from LEOs over staying there. I hope not, it's great standby when public lands are scarce. I hope you guys are heading up into the Keweenaw Peninsula, there and the Porkies are really special.
@@genekied yes!! We intended to do the Porkies, and could have spent an extra week in the Keewenaw - but all very special ✨ Drew was riding his moto all over the snowmobile trails in the Keewenaw! Also, Isle Royale National Park is up there… 😉

We have green head biting flies on the jersey shore too. If there's a west wind, it brings the flies from inland to the waters edge and they bites so badly! Fun fact , I read its only the females that bite...there's a protein or something in a mammals blood that she needs to reproduce...if I remember correctly...anyway beautiful views! Been to the UP when I was living in chicago and its truly wonderful..safe travels B&D! 💙🚐🌅

@@Mrandmrsadventure I like to keep a guide to shrooms when I hike.. All shrooms should be cooked before eating that are foraged though so as not to cause stomach upset.. I love them sauteed in a little vegan butter or avacado oil and garlic. Some are choice and others not so much.

Glad you made it to Pictured Rocks, I'd be so mad if you came to MI and skipped this. Tahquamenon Falls, Isle Royale (amazing but have to take a ferry) and so many other gorgeous places along the way. Marquette is a great city too, you'd probably enjoy it there for a bit of civilization/food/stores while you're in da UP, eh.
I love those stacked rocks - like a memorial to something - very artistic to me because I've seen some that are stacked in unique ways. You've found a great place in nature to explore and some great pictures. Enjoy - it's very peaceful just watching - loved the drive under the canopy of trees - another thing I've done in taking pictures - have your camera aimed for the sky trying to see through the leaves of the trees - got quite a few of those........mla

Natural Bridge in Kentucky - east of Lexington - the area is like this - rocky =lots of trails and you can stand off in a distance and see people walking across the natural stone bridge. It's really neat also. I'm checking out those red mushrooms to see if edible or toxic. I'll let you know what I find out......mla
