I was a Phys Ed teacher at a fairly large secondary school in South Auckland several years back when we had a school visit of several American high school teachers who were looking at the way we were dealing with mixed race issues and teaching in less desirable socio-economic parts of the city. The Phys Ed teacher, or "Coach" who was with them was interested to see the school had six rugby teams, from the elite 1st 15 down to a rather lowly 6th 15. He asked me why we had six rugby teams. He was a bit surprised when I replied that there weren't enough kids interested in playing to fill a 7th 15. Apparently in the States if you aren't good enough to make the school team you're a spectator whereas in NZ everyone who wants to play will have an opportunity to. The string of losses was because our captain Richie McCaw retired in 2015 from Rugby. Richie is loved by the whole country and respected world wide as the gentleman of rugby union.
I am an All Blacks fan. Richie can’t win games by himself. He had brilliant players around him. He was a great player and Captain. This is a team with brilliant individuals. All Blacks had a lot of players after who retired like Richie. We haven’t yet got a 100% team , but we are rebuilding. Go the boys this weekend❤❤
It's our national sport and New Zealanders are proud players of it just like you Americans are with your American Football. Win or lose, the All Blacks are the most humble and respected Rugby Union team in the world. No other World Champion team has come close to earning that respect, no other team will. They're not the perfect Rugby team because the perfect Rugby team doesn't exist, but when it comes to skill the AB's reign supreme, they're not the biggest nor are they the most athletic players in the world, but the class of Rugby they play is what excites their fans and threatens their opposition. what you have to understand firstly is the expectation of the public for the ABs to win every time. Which is rather unachievable sadly. As a former player you don't get bored if the ABs win, its total disappointment when they lose.
About Haka and what other team could do, I don't think it would be accepted without conditions. But i like to argue that at least one country could have their own thing, because it has a lot of historical similarities with the haka. Scotland could play the bagpipe. Both haka and bagpipe choir are deeply linked to the history of each countries AND both have roots with war and battles, and encouraging your own or striking fear to the others. I would be amased to see Scotland players chant and a few play the bagpipe!
The All Blacks aren’t on the decline as it is more they just had a bit of hiccup last year but are now back. They they just got into another World Cup final and could very well come away with their 4th World Cup title. Then we have Scott Robertson (Razor) taking over as coach next year who is literally a serial winner who won 7 Super Rugby titles out of 7 seasons with the Crusaders. Razors All Blacks are going to be absolutely insanely good.
Hi JJLA...a couple of glaring omissions from the AB story. No hero can rise to greatness without its nemesis, which in this case is South Africa ;-) and the relative economic / educational might of NZ means that they get to attract the best young talent from Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and all the other Polynesian islands in the Pacific.
NZL is a Polynesian country! Māoris are Polynesians. NZL has population of 5mill compared to SA with 60mill. SA def has advantage of more player selection lol
High schools in New Zealand are called high schools. You start attending at roughly 13 years old and attend for five years (well, the last one isn't manditory, but if you want to go straight into university afterwards rather than waiting or going to a polytech instead for a couple of years you need the qualifications from that last year). Properly speaking you have Primary, Secondary (highschool), and Tertiary (university, polytech, etc) education. The boundary between primary and secondary (and particularly where you go for the years roughly corrisponding to being 11 and 12 years old) is a bit fuzzy. Out in the country they're usually part of primary, in the city they're often split off as their own thing as Intermediate schools, and sometimes, usually when dealing with private or somehow specialised schools, those years are integrated into the Secondary part. A collage is generally a secondary educational institution (high school) that includes those two years as well.
the RWC changes everything - SA is now number 1 with abs number 2 and ireland down to 3 with france at 4 - the two greatest rugby teams are in the finals again with one winning their 4th cup
8 mins, NOTHING STOPPING OTHER TEAMS. All of the Pacific Islands perform variations of the Haka, but there is an open invitation to reciprocation. This is an opportunity to highlight national culture and identity. To be fair, also the reason we will likely never see the English respond. Just picture, a line-up of impressive physical specimens of human perfection performing the Haka... and a bunch of over-grown pasty-faced POMs donning bells and starting a Morris dance. It just... maybe just me, but I just don't see it holding the same gravitas. Give it a go though lads, laughter being the best medicine, you could accidentally cure cancer!
Be sure to catch the RWC final this weekend between NZ and South Africa. No matter who wins, you won't be disappointed. Up the All Blacks! You raise a good point about the ABs not winning every match not being a bad thing. I think it's inevitable anyway, with so many of NZ's rugby talent (players and coaches) choosing to ply their trades in other countries, it's only a matter of time before the rest of the world catches up and even surpasses us - it's already been happening over the last several years. Hell, if the US decided tomorrow to put even half of the resources into US rugby that they do into the NFL, the US could theoretically win the next Rugby World Cup! An exaggeration, but you get it. Also, like others have suggested in the comments, do check out some footage of Jonah Lomu. RIP big man.

You missed the four quarter-finals of the World Cup, all of which were terrific games! There is a level between school rugby and Super Rugby, BTW - the national provincial championship. As to whether the ABs are the best in the world, we'll find that out in the next 48 hours... greetings from the deep south of New Zealand!
9:00 onwards. yeah, he kicked the ball. you can do a wee kick, then chase it, or a big one, but big ones are usually picked up one the backs, a wee chip 'n' chase is not a bad way, as you see here, to get some space, cannot tackle someone without the ball, so he cannot be touched, but the other team can also get the ball. if your team touches the ball behind your line, it's like a reset to the game. it's a risk, but when it pays off, as you saw, he scored the try.
Please react to the World Cup final. The All Blacks have made the final against all expectations and are playing our long time rivals South Africa. It’s going to be a doozy.
It is a mighty impressive record over the years for sure what Brazil is to footie is what the AB’s are to egg chasing but it must really grate them that that dominance in the big show belongs to Springboks and that gap is growing I was at Twickenham for that game before the WC and they got run over big time by South Africa and I honestly thought the fear factor had gone and they were going to go the same way in rugby that Man Utd has gone in footie Didn’t turn out that way they played great against Ireland in that epic qrtr final and in the final they almost caught the Boks even with 14 men It was better than in 2019 when they were well beaten by England in the semi But when it comes to the Show , the Boks are batting .500 and the ABs .300
For all the national interest and enthusiasm for rugby in Aotearoa/NZ, there simply aren't enough positions for every coach or player to fill. Those who are "good enough" but not for the All Black roles, will take contracts to play or coach overseas. This keeps them fit at international level and performances may get you noticed by the All Black scouts who monitor their performances for those countries. If you're luck enough, you could get a call up. You were right, when we dominated the game for so long it became a foregone conclusion we'd win. If we were beaten, it meant the opposition "lifted" themselves and I always cheered for the underdog. Cheers.
30 minutes before all hell breaks loose and the 2 giants face each other in probably the most anticipated World Cup final ever played, I don’t think 2 teams have ever wanted the win this bad! South Africa is in such a state right now that the Springboks NEED to win tonight for the sake of the country. Oh shit, my blood pressure is never going to make it through another 80 minutes
As an old b____ I recall the days of non professional rugby when all black players had to hold down a full time job and train in evenings or weekends. I recall the toughness of these players, one who with a body cast on continued to turn up to training and another who broke his arm during a game and rather than miss the rest of the play hid his injury and played on to the end. With these men as examples, among many more, is it any wonder that rugby has assumed a major part of the Kiwi identity.
When I grew up as a kid, there was no rippa rugby. There was only rugby. You were taught how to tackle safely and how to fall in a tackle to prevent injuries.
There's a great book called "legacy" that was written by a guy called james kerr in 2013 amazing book about the all blacks culture and is a good representation of why the all blacks are as good as they are it goes far beyond just being good at the game, there work ethic, there maori heritage, there mentality towards how they handle there losses, how they hold each other accountable inside and outside of the sport and the brotherhood they have in all aspects of there lives its a huge catalyst as to why they are the most winningest team of any sport in the world. I appreciate your reaction to our national sport.
There have been 10 Rugby world cup grand finals, NZ have appeared in 5 of them winning 3. 50% Grand Final Appearance percentage- unmatched at the world cup level of any sport
Australia, New Zealand and South Africa are the rugby kings , after tomorrow they'll have 9 out of 10 rugby world cups triumphs between them, with South Africa and New Zealand three apiece and Aussies two titles
Mate, check out how many International teams have had NZ coaches (many ex All Blacks) over the last 5-10 years. When NZ Lost to ENG in the RWC '19 semi-final, John Mitchell, ex All Blacks coach was advising ENG and was present in their coaches box during the Game. NZ Pop. is unable to generate the money needed to retain top players and coaches in the Pro Era, hence the inevitable decline. The All Blacks are part of NZs international Identity, They must remain competitive, I believe Govt. financial assistance is required. $300-500 million Per Annum. Rebuild from grass roots, retain top players and coaches.
The USA has a rugby team because I saw them when they came over and played England. They got trounced but you have to start somewhere. Italy started the same way and now have a side to compete with the best. So does Romania. They did not mention the world class teams of Fiji, Tonga and Samoa.
Other countries are offering some NZ players much higher salaries to come and play or coach for them, which as a small country, we can't compete with, hence why so many are moving overseas.
Also one of the reasons for less young guys playing rugby is the historic legacy of head injuries (concussions etc) sustained during rugby. Lots of parents are starting to steer their kids to sports with less chance of head injuries.
the flag thing is only recent...was full contact when I started playing in first year of school...really don't know why they got rid of full contact till 13...is actually bs as far as I'm concerned

Well I think New Zealand's dominance in World Rugby after the World Cup final this year has waned a bit. South Africa manage to win it yet again
“Managed” was a good word choice
The international growth of rugby union can be credited to All Black rugby and the contribution they have given.
Our Treaty is what made us our own people on our own land's & The haka with it's custom's culture & traditions attached to the haka & warrior's when performing connect's to those before us & STRENGTHEN 'S us all when @ (war) Playing rugby,Last 4 year's was all about rebuilding a new team of ALL BLACK'S & COACHING STAFF
Great reaction video. 💯👌🙏
what you have to understand firstly is the expectation of the public for the ABs to win every time. Which is rather unachievable sadly. As a former player you don't get bored if the ABs win, its total disappointment
when they lose.
Yeah the big thing is, the New Zealand coaches are coaching alot of international teams......and they're getting better, so the skill gap has closed.
8:45 feeling that CBHS pride💪
1st Rugby Game in NZ played in Nelson
About Haka and what other team could do, I don't think it would be accepted without conditions. But i like to argue that at least one country could have their own thing, because it has a lot of historical similarities with the haka. Scotland could play the bagpipe. Both haka and bagpipe choir are deeply linked to the history of each countries AND both have roots with war and battles, and encouraging your own or striking fear to the others. I would be amased to see Scotland players chant and a few play the bagpipe!
In Wales we simply have our national anthem, even Englishmen in the crowd have been moved by its passion.
Black Ferns are now number 1. You should check them out, amazing women! Enjoyed watching. Cheers from NZ :)
Red Roses are No One
The All Blacks aren’t on the decline as it is more they just had a bit of hiccup last year but are now back. They they just got into another World Cup final and could very well come away with their 4th World Cup title.
Then we have Scott Robertson (Razor) taking over as coach next year who is literally a serial winner who won 7 Super Rugby titles out of 7 seasons with the Crusaders. Razors All Blacks are going to be absolutely insanely good.
"I was in the marching band" 🤣🤣🤣really enjoyed this reaction
I Never get bored watching the All Blacks dominate, I hope they dominate the Boks on Saturday, go the All Blacks!
A collage is generally a secondary educational institution (high school) that includes those two years as well.
nice keep up the rugby videos!
New Zealand will probably win at the weekend. I will be supporting them. I’m English and South Africa beat us 😢
no shit mate🤣
Letsss Gooooo AllBlacks
No other rugby team more well known around the world than the All Blacks
Australia used to sing Waltzing Matilda after the Haka. This was banned by the International Rugby board but they allowed the Haka.
the RWC changes everything - SA is now number 1 with abs number 2 and ireland down to 3 with france at 4 - the two greatest rugby teams are in the finals again with one winning their 4th cup
Yup fellow nz here 🌿
it is not a game it's war #newzealandrugby 🏉
This weekend is the 2023 world cup and if we win we will restore our number 1 spot and grab our 4th world cup 😎
@@portorportor8247 2 of 3 Ireland tries in the quarter final? Scored by Kiwis 🤣🤣🤣and the 3rd was a penalty try, so not even an Irishman could score that 🤣🤣🤣 cry more lad
It is a mighty impressive record over the years for sure what Brazil is to footie is what the AB’s are to egg chasing but it must really grate them that that dominance in the big show belongs to Springboks and that gap is growing
I was at Twickenham for that game before the WC and they got run over big time by South Africa and I honestly thought the fear factor had gone and they were going to go the same way in rugby that Man Utd has gone in footie
Didn’t turn out that way they played great against Ireland in that epic qrtr final and in the final they almost caught the Boks even with 14 men
It was better than in 2019 when they were well beaten by England in the semi
But when it comes to the Show , the Boks are batting .500 and the ABs .300
The All Black have a set of rules they live by. Rule 8, "Don't be a dick", meaning no one player is bigger than the game or the team.
I watched France beat England some years back.
I'm English, but I'd have to say they were better. That's rugby.
New Zealand is in the World Cup final
There have been 10 Rugby world cup grand finals, NZ have appeared in 5 of them winning 3.
50% Grand Final Appearance percentage- unmatched at the world cup level of any sport
the last world cup also hurt the fan base with the TMO ref dominating the game rather then the on field play
Australia, New Zealand and South Africa are the rugby kings , after tomorrow they'll have 9 out of 10 rugby world cups triumphs between them, with South Africa and New Zealand three apiece and Aussies two titles
You 100% got it, Rugby is a religion here.
Black Ferns don't call them the female or women All Blacks. They earned their own identity.
yeah....as inferior rugby players.
Yes, exactly right 5:28
Do u have the link to the video you were watching

The All Black game highlights you watched, was the All Blacks and Argentina, the Pumas,The ABs lost to France in the Rugby World cup opener.
There was no war for our warrior culture to fight, so, Rugby!
Bro, fifth in the worlds not to bad, FACTS BROTHER
Rugby’s gone crazy in Florida! Go watch a live match! Look up a bloke named Matthew Wells!
Like this guy 🤌🏽
Other countries are offering some NZ players much higher salaries to come and play or coach for them, which as a small country, we can't compete with, hence why so many are moving overseas.
Also one of the reasons for less young guys playing rugby is the historic legacy of head injuries (concussions etc) sustained during rugby. Lots of parents are starting to steer their kids to sports with less chance of head injuries.
Rugby is the thing that unites all people in New Zealand. People will listen to theAll Black captain more than the Prime Minister.
Jonah was a pure Freak
the flag thing is only recent...was full contact when I started playing in first year of school...really don't know why they got rid of full contact till 13...is actually bs as far as I'm concerned
It's at about age 8 that they start. I was 4 playing tackle rugby with 6 Yr olds. I don't know where the 13 came from. Such a bullshit video.
@@JaemanEdwards yeah that sounds more like it...was like naaaaa...that aint right surely, cheers
Please watch the rugby world cup final this weekend between the all blacks and the south African springboks, the 2 best teams in the history of rugby. I'm going for the all blacks.
Ripper Rugby in NZ is fairly new it's was developed for the "modern era" it is no more the school of hard knocks.
I’m in New Zealand
Just wanted to ask the folk in the comments section as someone from Taranaki, if the All Blacks win the world cup, does that make Taranaki the rugby province world champions ;)
New sub here. Please Check out Jonah Lomu ULTIMATE TRIBUTE Lord of the Wings. This legend took Rugby to a whole new level. RIP #11❤
Yeah the All Blacks have had some outstanding teams and players playing some of the best Rugby ever, cant ever discount the Kiews :)
Kiwis😊
lol but ok @@margaretreid2153
