Narek is honestly so great for his age - there is so much maturity in all of his interpretations! What a wonderful cellist! He truly is one of my favourite currently-living cellists.
A superbly performed masterpiece - Un chef-d'oeuvre superbement interprété - Великолепно исполненный шедевр - Ein hervorragend aufgeführtes Meisterwerk - Una obra maestra magníficamente interpretada
What a beautiful performance. I would have liked the video to show more piano though- the pianist is absolutely wonderful. What crystal-clear, thoughtful playing.
This is a brilliant performance. The notes in the cello part are not particularly difficult but Hakhnazaryan's interpretation is a revelation. His phrasing is pure magic.
I think that Narek Haknzaryan is one of the greatest (and most winning) cello talents to have come along in years. For me, his performance--available on UA-cam--of Paganini's one-string variations is absolutely unsurpassable. But I think that, in the present performance, his playing is so small-scale and intimate that it doesn't so much ride the piano accompaniment as submit to it. Granted, some of this impression may be due to the way the performance has been. But despite this possible mitigating factor, I do wish that he had shown a little more extroversion. Still, I remain a huge fan!
@@jimp4170 Indeed they are, as it is the case of most of compositions Schumann wrote in the late period. The first piece is introspective (belonging to "Eusebius") and the third is definitely more extrovert (i.e. "Florestan") and their interpretation of them was really on point. The second one on the other hand is a sort of lied/duet and I would have differentiated a bit more the light-hearted first section and the more cantabile/calm middle section, perhaps having a fuller sound in the first (the ethereal ending however was beautifully played!).
Wow! Narek, you're the coolest cellist with the coolest name! I love the way it's spelled in Cyrillic! It almost looks mathematical. I would love to hear you play in person some day. Can you come to Texas? I would travel across the USA to hear you play.
I d try to expres it better .The first piece represent s the poet longing for his lover far (Clara was out for concerts)and not yet married. The second is the promise and joy of life together :the poet expresses is will to bring her a new life.He is a sort of Don Juan poem in the sense he try to be an hero in conquering a new life together. So no violence but hopes vital feeling even in the sense of making sons but in the better sense. That s why there is a sort of sexual force in the raising up of the theme. He is not making violence to her but showing her his will vital force spiritual to give her a new life
It's interesting to hear E natural in measures 31 and 32 (1:30, piano's right hand). Other pianists in other great performances choose to play it that way, but I love Schumann's E flat, the unexpected darkness of it. It's in the manuscript. Is it a difference in editions?
Wow! This is supposed to be from a masterclass? What could the master say when the student could play like this? (The only comments I would make is that they are not playing it like chamber music - not enough interaction between cello and piano, especially at moments when piano should be leading and cello accompanying).
Can I also suggest not to express violence in the second piece.. there s no violence.in love. In this concitato theme the poet brings his wife by hands and moves her for a new adventures life with passion and hope. Please no violence in Schumann
The second theme is a sort of Wanderer theme the two wandering in the new misteries of life.some and you do it well but before ricapitulation why again violence. May be it s just stage frightening.
Great moments but better not look.I would advise not to make false expression.Let your expression be as true as possible to your good feeling.Like once Tolstoy said"sincerity sincerity and sincerity".Try to study the score as Furtwangler did.The pianist plays better because he has the score.Pianists schould not follow the desiderata of soloists. Please soloists study the piano score.Anyway many beautiful moments. Thanks Good luck! The future behold to your young hands!
This kid doesn't need a masterclass - he needs a recording contract!
+casalsfan A year after this recording, he won First Prize in the Tchaikovsky Competition. No surprise!
+1 agreed, but he is not a kid, he is a master already!
I agree!
@@psforrest1 of course! Wonderful for him!
Yes, for the masterclass they'll work on playing the music in reverse.

Give credits to the pianist too. Such a sensitive and wonderful job!
Here's a bit about Roman Rabinovich en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Rabinovich. A wonderful pianist.
Absolutely agree...
Thank you! The pianists are so rarely mentioned.
Как я.люблю слушать этот славный дуэт их.милое тогкое исполнение благодарю Вас
Schumann was a man who knew pain.
He knew what sweetness really is..
La miglior interpretazione mai sentita.
Complimenti a tutti e due!
Как же я люблю этот прекрасный инструмент...только он может выразить все глубины души и сердца..нежно, тонко, волнующе..❤
His playing is controlled while expressive. Really awesome!!
Wow, the cellist was able to play even the most difficult part so gently and yet withn great passion. Schmann could not be played better.

It's a duo. The pianist is not subservient.
Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful.

Perfect tempo
1st mvt a bit slow for my taste.
Sentir lo que se interpreta es trasmitir ese sentir
Incantevoli sia il violoncellista che il pianista!
I'm performing this solo on Saturday. I play the clarinet.

amazing! might even prefer this to the clarinet version!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Al día siguiente no murió nadie.
Beautiful performance, but listen also to Harvey Shapiro's marvelous rendition of that piece.
Fabulous!!! Sounds too soft though...maybe the recording....thank you so much!

I love it.
Jose Saramago brought me here
@Caramellatta it's a cello masterclass
What colour are his eyes?
ll 3:34
Not to reign on your parade, but it was actually written originally for the cello. Clarinet version is still really good though. :)
Nope you’re wrong Schumann wrote it originally for clarinet. Google is free.
It is not the opus 129 ?
Baptiste Bataille it si Op. 73
Who does came to listen after reading Death with Interruptions of Jose Saramago gives a like
say 'what could the master say' and then say something of the sort yourself. yes.
Built in android alarm ahh piece
