Lol , that's the first thing i noticed too 😝
Mark Henry is a hero, such a legend. His faux retirement speech and subsequent attack on John Cena with that salmon jacket is one of my favorite moments in wrestling.
AIN'T GONNA BE THAT EASY!!! Absolutely killer segment.
One of mines too
Grow up manchild
mine too and when he broke real chains from the cage door.
He should've won the WWE Belt after that
I wouldn't want to pissoff Ron Simmons, he looks like a real life badass
He was. No one was game to piss him off.
@Richard_dicky_Johnson legit badass
So was Ahmed btw
@@sugs1191 I would rather meet Ahmed than Ron

Mark Henry seems like if he's your friend, he has your back for life
Oh yeah .
Mark is like a teddy bear who if you get him angry enough will turn into a grizzly bear.
Mark Henry seems like a gentle soul. Always remember his "Hall of Pain" run.
My main thought during that run is that they should have been doing that for his entire tenure with the company. One of the most believable heels ever. That man is 6'4", 400+, can dunk a basketball at that height and weight and is legitimately one of the strongest men who have ever drawn breath ... and he's mad at you. Classic shit.
THATS WHAT.....I DO
@@arthurmorris1813Yeah that shit was a natural. It's just like how they let Roman go off script now u can tell that's more of how they just really are everyday
"You don't have to validate his stupidity"
Mark is the man, and I'am glad he helped clear Austin's name on that.
I'm black and met Austin at a bar hell one cool guy 💯
Man gotta admit, Mark Henry as himself is just amazing. He's two men and a half just on his principals and maturity alone. He's definitely someone anyone would hang out with for a few hours doing nothing, yet wouldn't even feel them.
Yeah for sure,so knowing that Mark wouldn’t mess with Ron just says more than enough about his toughness
@@chazzlambert9332 Then with Simmons banging up Johnson that bad, the word still had to come from McMahon for any real revenge of that caliber to take place.
@chazzlambert9332 no reason to take a chance for no reason to fight a guy you have no beef woth
Let's be honest the only things Ahmed got right was that Steve stole his spot not by being racist but by working hard while he wasn't Austin just blew right past him . Ahmed was given the keys to the castle Vince was all in but he fumbled the bag and is now incredibly bitter
He had the IQ of a Moonpie
Exactly. Ahmed thought he was there. The almost greats like Austin and the greats like Hogan and Flair were always working to get there.
@@fjccommish Ahmed was there. Even the wrestlers that didn't like Ahmed all say that Ahmed was massively over and he really was back then. The question isn't if Ahmed thought he was over, it's the statements about Steve being racist that's the problem. Ahmed blamed everyone for his career faults except for himself. He was unsafe to work with and was injury prone along with having a horrible attitude. Ahmed ruined his career, not Steve Austin.
@@pikkon899 Right. He was there, and he had an ego about it. He was arrived, and he thought he now could coast.
The greats are great because they never think they're there - they're always striving for more.
Ahmed was incredibly over . When he slammed Yoko in that wildcard survivors series match he was over like a million bucks . I loved Ahmed as a black kid. Bigger impact in my wrestling childhood fandom than Mark ever was .. only think I hated was his tights always up his ass. Lmfao
Ahmed thought he was getting the championship from the undertaker.😂😂😂
🤣
He actually was supposed to get a run, however he didn’t learn from Lex Luger,& did the exact same thing he did, started running his mouth to boys. He was stiff & never got the concept of it.
vince would push him to main spot if he was competent worker but he wasnt
@@LordDeBahs Vince learned his lesson with Warrior. Guy who is stiff and refuses to learn anything, not going down that path again.
That was actually a great little interview, love the older Stone Cold podcasts...

Yea because he's talking bad about a black man. While being a black man. You love every bit of it.

😂😂😂
I didn't know Mark Henry was straight edge! But I lost it in laughter when he said " Lord if you deliver me, I'll never drink again".
😂
Ive had many nights like that
I'm sorry but I don't believe Henry, he may not be an alcoholic but I believe he'd have consumed adult beverages more than just one time. I also believe that he may have used human growth doing his career also
Mark was freakishly massive when he was very young. I doubt if he to hgh, because if be did he would of looked even bigger. From his teens you could see how massive he was growing naturally. Unless your saying he took hgh at 13-16 to get that overly massive look he started getting then.
I know that he hated PEDS
Stone Cold: How’d you stay straight on the road with all the temptations?
Mark Henry: STRIP CLUBS!
🤣🤣🤣
"STRIP JOINTS" no hesitation cracked me up LMAO
Basically, Ahmed managed to piss off every Black wrestler in the WWF at the time; the Nation of Domination and Mark Henry. So, nobody had his back. Ahmed just didn't fit in at the company.
That one version. Another version is crabs in a barrel. Ahmed was the least experienced but the most pushed black wrestler so comes the jealousy
@@charlesmarcus7864You must have missed the 9 minute story about how he carelessly kicked Fasrooq and lacerated one of his internal organs. Just look at how many guys he injured, how careless he was in the ring, and how unreasonable he was backstage, and call it for what it is: he was a prima Donna who couldn’t work and who demanded to be treated like a superstar. When you can’t work, you’d better be on your best behavior and endear yourself to the boys who have to carry you every night.
So did Dwayne Johnson but everybody is still sucking his basic acting ass....
@@RedhotshawntexasNo. Get your facts straight. Ron's first appearance as Farooq managed by Sunny ran out of no where and he kicked Ahmed during a match he was in, and damaged his kidney or kidneys first.
@charlesmarcus7864 it really was crabs in barrel. Of course the WWE heads take up for each other but it's really a bad look. Now Ahmed didn't help matters at times being irratic, but how folks make it as if Mark Henry full word is gospel, when he can't even get his timelines right
I met Ahmed Johnson in Pittsburgh at the airport. He was sitting by himself sleeping. My buddy ask me to go wake him up I’m like hell no. Lol. We both went over woke him up and asked for an autograph. He was very nice gave my buddy a program from raw the night before and signed it. I grabbed a napkin for him to sign. Talked to us for sec. I thought he was gonna be mad but no he was cool.
Everybody has a side to their story. Probably one da coolest ppl just caught in a bad moment
You still have the napkin?
@@lensmith8474Lots of bad moments. Trying to drug Henry and slicing Farooq's liver
@@bobbymcgee9892Why would you wake anyone up for an autograph? I would have been pissed.
@@tedwilliams185Agreed. Waking a stranger up for an autograph is weird
I live in harlem and met mark henry multiple times, he was renting a apartment in my neighborhood. He was so cool and down to earth
I don't think Mark Henry is alone when he echoes that sentiment. From what I remember, not too many people liked Ahmed Johnson.
Some didn’t even like the fact he was wearing thigh guards 😂
Not one person in the wrestling world has spoken about ahmed in high regards
Road Dogg spoke about how much of a bad attitude Ahmed had..said he bullied a lot of the younger guys. He didn't have anyone in his favor.
Honestly, I can see why. Vince liked him, so he thought he was untouchable. Ron rolled through and showed my man that he was indeed NOT Him. In all seriousness, after hearing some of the stories about the guy, why would ANYONE test Ron fuckin Simmons?
I am surprised that people did not like him. Looks can certainly be deceiving.
There's a quote in WWF Warzone from Farooq that goes "There ain't nothin' like a good ass-whoopin', and I think it's 'bout time you had one!" and that is Ron Simmons in a sentence.
'out of all the people with 'Caucasian persuasion' Lmao what a way to put it
I had to laugh when Mark says I don't drink, I smoke cigars a little and I go to cat houses.. LOL
There’s absolutely no way, for any reason, I would ever mess with Ron Simmons. Ever.
I don't think that any sane person ever would. He was a legitimate tough guy.
Ahmed Johnson tried to pull a Cosby on Mark Henry is one of the most insane things I have ever heard listening to these wrestling podcasts. I gotta admit, I never understood why Ahmed simply disappeared after being such a draw…but I get it now. Damn
Hes like omaraso of wrestling
Why on earth would you ever get on the bad side of Haku, Harley Race or Ron Simmons? Those are the last guys I would try to start a fight with.
Most definitely brother 🍻 fuq that~
Just like what they do their whole careers, a bunch of exaggerated compulsive liar bs stories that only wrestle fans would believe. Remember that time Haku fought 8 cops. bit all their noses off, fked all their wives, and got in no trouble because he also shoulder charged a tank and it flips? Yeah, seen it with my own eyes. Good times. 🙄🙄
This story Mark told is mostly bullshit. Ron/Faarooq was never out for 9 months, and it was Ron who hurt Ahmed's kidney and put Ahmed out for months. This was Ron's WWF debut, so this whole revenge story is bullshit. I have no doubt Ahmed was difficult to work with since he was almost universally disliked by his peers, but Henry is straight up reversing roles here.
@@arjuken8 yeah? I'm sure you were there keeping records. Stfu
@@arjuken8I’d rather believe a guy who was there than a random comment ngl
I heard a story once that Ahmed Johnson got booked on an Indy show and wound up no showing it because he asked the promoter for more money than the initial agreed upon amount, so the promoter started off the show by explaining why Ahmed wasn't going to be there and if anyone wants to vent their frustrations about it to call the following phone number....it was the phone number and extension for Ahmed Johsons hotel room.😂
😂😂😂😂😂
And nobody that got through understood a damn thing that Ahmed said.
Mark Henry seems like a good dude.
Gentle giant
"i neverr smoke..." "Occasionally i smoke cigars every two months." 😂 Rick James type lying lol
😂
I think he meant weed lol.
Well Cigars you dont inhale so it aint really smoking if you ask me
@@PracticeMakesPaper you still get cancer from cigars, the nicotine just enters the blood stream from your cheeks rather than your lungs. A bit of a strawman argument in my imo
I am just sitting here, thinking about what it would take for MARK HENRY to decide he needs to get the hell out of the way for ANYBODY. I am sure Mark can pick and choose his own battles, and I am sure he is not going to be steamrolled by too many guys. I am also sure he just used common sense, and said this is between Ahmed, and Ron, and I do not need to be involved.
I cannot imagine the mentality of a man who would try to slip a roofie to Mark Henry, either.....
💯
Well funny thing is Mark doesn't drink alcohol
Yeah but people will do crazy things when they fear someone. Especially guys that claim to be tough by beating up lesser fighters.
You step aside for the man the locker room knows as "Mr. Simmons".
I met him at Comi Con in Lexington Kentucky as well as SGT Slaughter Al snow Marty Jennette
Didn’t Ron Simmons kick Ahmed Johnson in his kidney, and injured him first in his debut?
Yeah and Ahmed said in an interview recently he did this in retaliation.
I think so. It's on record that Johnson thinks Ron did it on purpose out of jealousy.
@@whisperiencedOh so it was Ahmed who ruined Ron's debut early 96
@@kinglord7707 you sound crazy no Ron injured Ahmed on his debut
Ruined his IC title push too.
Mark Henry is awesome. His son is going to be a fantastic athlete. I think his name is Jacob? Heard him on Busted Open once. He is very well spoken and intelligent. He has a bright future ahead of him.
I was 11 or 12 when they added Ahmed to the Nation. Even as a kid I questioned that decision. Why would they add a guy who was feuding with the leader of the group for a few years. Heck, didn't they attack Ahmed some weeks before?
💯 It was weird!
They did that stuff all the time. Sting in the horseman, Owen in the nation, shamrock in the corporation, Practically anyone in the nwo....it's not that weird. My enemies enemy is my friend
Few years? 😂
I call cap! No 11 yr old was saying why would he have been in the group in that moment. Ahmed was super over with the fans. And that move was great, especially for Black wrestling fans.
Think they where watching the NWO a little too close.
I am so glad that Mark defended Steve, and so many other good men.
and also the fact in the story D-Lo defended HHH
It gets no better than Stone cold Steve Austin and Mark Henry.
Mark Henry’s words are measured, mature, open minded, and inspirational. I’m so impressed with this man. Thanks for another great podcast 👍
Well said.
It was hard to believe any wrestler alive could defeat Mark Henry in his prime, he was a next level human being.

As a black guy in the UK, I watched this period of WWE and I tell you something: I would watch Steve Austin all day long over Ahmed Johnson. Never liked him and after hearing Mark Henry right here, I was spot on then. Mark's a righteous brother, man, always rated him.
As a "black guy" in the US, I disrespectful disagree.
My man 🇬🇧
Ahmed was an impressive looking man. An absolute unit. But, he always seemed angry with the world, and I could never work out if that was just his character or him in real life. It seems to be in real life if we listen to Mark Henry.
The rest of the guys who were members of the nation of domination at the same time do not exactly like him either. The only nice thing they say about him is that he look like a million bucks and he did get over.
As a white guy in the usa i liked Ahmed thought he was gonna be the next ultimate warrior, liked the big wrestlers when i was younger
Nobody liked Ahmed Johnson
Ahmed was a garbage wrestler, that wasn't hard to see and I was a kid during the time all this was going down and even then I could see it. The people defending Johnson is crazy.
I was born in 1997, so I didn't know much about Ron until a lil later but he seems like a real life OG who'll knock you out if you piss him off enough😅
Still not as tough as Meng though. Meng is one of the few men Andre was terrified of. The nicest man in the world, but also the toughest. Andre was in the ring intoxicated and he no sold Meng and Meng proceeded to beat the hell out of the 7'4 Andre The Giant.
Stop being gullible. Ron could fight but being able to beat up lesser fighters doesn’t make you an OG. What makes you an OG is how you stand up when you don’t have the advantage. I want to see how he was when faced with Shamrock or Blackman.
You are correct. All the ilder qrestlers in his era all say one thing. Rin ran that locker room. You dont get that rep unless you did some shit to prove the posistion. "DAMN"
The funniest story is about him going to the gym.
Ron would walk in to the gym in jeans and cowboy boots. Proceed to do a 400 lb bench with absolutely no warm up, comb his hair, and leave.
As someone that struggles with 250, I couldn’t imagine just walking in like that.
Look up what he and Bradshaw did to the Public Enemy for no-selling on Heat. That match was absolutely brutal.
Mark Henry loved every white wrestler but makes sure to let everyone know how much a hated the black wrestler who was actually one of my fav wrestlers
Ahmed never watched Austin’s body of work in WCW? Yeah, Ron is up there with Haku & a few others…☠️
tbh, I haven't heard anyone say anything good about Ahmed Johnson. Ron Simmons didn't like him (and I would not want to get on his bad side), D-lo had nothing good to say either, Mark Henry hasn't said anything good when asked, and Mr. Charles Wright didn't have good to say about him either. Stone Cold Steve Austin has called him a liar when he accused Austin of being a racist and keying a racial slur into his car. It's funny that The Rock, Ron Simmons, the other guys in the nation have never backed up those claims made by Ahmed Johnson.
Austin is a racist bit loves The Rock...Ahmed sounded stupid as hell. We know damn well Austin isnt
I think Ahmed was a prime example of a wrestler who got so hogh in the business because promoters liked his size and shape. He didn't learn how the business worked and don't think he wanted either and got a big head. When he saw people in power got enough of him, he started to blame everything else than himself.

The kid me thought Ahmed had real triceps 😂
These stories will never get old.
Even Vince McMahon said that Ahmed Johnson had hurt a lot of people, face it, he couldn't wrestle, maybe he should have gotten into MMA fighting instead.
Jim Ross who was the head of talent relations at the time also mentioned what a nightmare Ahmed was to do business with. He said he could not think of anyone who was unhappy when Ahmed Johnson last because they didn't want to work with him anyhow.
The Rock said Austin is one of the nicest guys you could meet in his book. Also i saw Austin get punked. It was actually pretty cool because he was sticking up for a Black guy. Hell im black and Austin was definitely one of my childhood heroes. Ahmed is bugged tf out 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kind of hilarious how white people need to get the approval of black people now but I hear ya lol.
Yeah because their both retired and are legends but I heard him and rock didnt get along or talked to each other backstage during 98-99 because it was tension fighting for that top spot and austin seen rock as a threat
@PracticeMakesPaper I wouldn't be surprised. Back then wrestlers were highly competitive. I read The Rock's book when I was a kid. He had nothing but nice things to say about Austin but it came out during the time they were both so over you couldn't tell who was the top guy lol they probably squashed it by the time the book came out though.
Ron should have slammed Ahmed with a Dominator but for real (stiff slam)!
He do be in the strip club.. I remember when they came to Springfield MA.. i went to one of our strip clubs called center stage. and caught him on his way leaving out lol
