Not to downplay his performance cause it is amazing but "Broken Man Who's A Crusading Badass" isn't an uncommon character lots of people have done and done great. Especially in fiction that depicts lone masculine warrior like fantasy, westerns, and dystopian sci-fi. Hell in the first two genres 'priest who takes names' is a pretty common trope, they're just portrayed more as knights and cowboys who happen to be of strong faith rather than JUST pastors.
Jerome is real representation of a true Christian. He takes up arms against those who harm innocent people and even afterwards, in new dawn, he shows sympathy for Joseph after the end game. He is not perfect acknowledges it, and doesn't put on the "holier than thou" show. He talks about how he hopes the highwaymen's souls can be redeemed, and that is admirable. Fighting a sick and twisted enemy and still praying for their eternity. I think as Christian, i can learn from this character, even if he's not a real person. whoever designed the character of Jerome knows how this works.
@that1gamer218How could any good person not think that way after taking so many lives? Even in non-christian philosophy there is the idea that you should be ready and willing to commit murder, direct or indirect, to prevent even greater acts of murder. Even justified, it's still murder.

Therefore, he will take it upon himself to strike them down with furious anger because... They are still his flock.
I like this. Instead of portraying the "Christians" as the bad guy they are clearly showing someone of real faith and difference to delineate the cult nature. They are not taking the easy way out in this one it appears.
Exactly. When it was first revealed the other day many people were going, Yes i get to kill Christians, figured they were just going to go with the liberal agenda of trying to vilify Christians. No w i see they are trying to show they are not christians but some sort of truly messed up cult.

It's hard for me to believe that's what that means. The "wolf who scatters the sheep" in John 10:12 would undoubtedly be the Eden's Gate cult (compare to Matthew 7:15), while the "wolf" in this trailer seems to refer to the warrior of God that this guy intends to become. (Personally, I'd have used a lion metaphor.)
My favorites Grace then him. I’m worried that he’ll be like that war lord guy from far cry 4 who got shot in the head and found god, he’ll just be that guy who will just be shouting bible phrases during the fight

Most of the time modern day cults tend to be pretty bad news so I can get behind taking down this screwed up collective already.
Absolutely. We (that is, gamers generally) have been going on and on about games being repetitive, e.g. Call of Duty number infinity, Assassin's Creed games being far too similar etc. If this kind of originality is what we get in return, I'm all for it. Although it's interesting that the last Ghost Recon also had a significant cult factions/theme to its plotline (the Santa Muerte cult) and now this. Maybe GRW and FC5 have some of the same writing team.
Outlast 2 just came out last month and that's centered around a crazy cult in Arizona. Taking down crazy cults is nothing new to gaming, but like what happened with Far Cry 4 Ubisoft likes to put out pictures without context and let people speculate and come up with insane conclusions before clarifying.
That was the Santa Muerte Cartel, Or Saint of death cartel, not cult. Its just a religious figure in central and south america and has nothing to do with them being a cult. They were just a drug cartel.
NitroFag123 I like how even though the villans are 'Christians' ubisoft has still given us a more balanced/benevolent figure in the form of this pastor.

Just a question. What Gun would Jesus choose? Deuteronoumy 32:47? "For there are no empty words for you, but your very life." Or maybe... Revelations 19:11. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
***** you think so? I hated Ajay's lack of personality. If you compare Ajay to Jason Brody, they both began as characters who had never been in the situations they were thrust into but only Jason changes throughout the game because of his experiences and that's my problem with Ajay. There is no depth to the character and that makes it harder for me to connect with the character or the story. If a game has a choice system that affects the character's personality (i.e. the Mass Effect paragon/renegade or the new system in andromeda) and so the character changes based on the player but Ajay didn't even have that so I find it impossible to get any sort of connection.
Iggy Iggz For me, giving the character a good personality makes me feel more connected to the character. This is why I loved far cry 4 but not the character.
DarkBladeicus N sum games I found Jason Brody to be an interesting character that developed throughout the game. Ajay on the other hand... it's almost as if I was playing a silent protaginist in that game. So yeah? they need to sort that out for FC5
I love this about this game. It could have been so easy for them to take the usual "religion is evil!" stance that is often taken when the bad guys are a cult of some sort. Instead, they show how religion brings out the evil in some people and the good in others.
@Militia Pilot From what I've read about the plot of the game, the cult is just a minor nuisance that the government overlooks, at least until the player character, a deputy sheriff, gets a warrant for the cult leaders arrest from the US Marshals. When the cult gets wind that you are coming to arrest him, you and your fellow officers get attacked and your fellow officers are kidnapped, stranding you in the county. The cult quickly takes over the county, before the government has time to react and send in the National Guard. Not exactly the most realistic of plotlines, unless the National Guard arrives halfway through the game to assist you or something, but hey, it's video game, we probably shouldn't read too much into it xD
SGx X Don't know anything about? It's an Ubisoft Farcry game, we all know what the gameplay is gonna be like. Meaning all he has to go on now is the story that is shown through these trailers. This person is allowed to be interested in whatever he wants, dont tell him otherwise

When I first saw the trailers for the guns for hire. I thought maybe each of them would have their own arcs, and stories that we'd join them on. That Jerome was maybe a vet who made a bad judgment call in war. That he became a pastor to help move on from the past, and throughout the game. He was having a crisis of faith, and your character would help him forgive his past.
Imagine Pastor Jerome Jeffries preaching the Gospel to Vaas Montenegro. Vaas: Do u know the definition of insanity? Jerome: Yeah I read the bible over and over again hoping the congregation will change.

Daniel Balan lol you're kidding right? this is a farcry game silly. you don't get to be the badass. You'll take your terrified improbably skilled kid protagonist and like it.
Sean O'Brien Okay time out, that was only Far Cry 3 and it made a damn good story, every Far Cry before Far Cry 3 and after it you were a grown man even in Far Cry 4 Ajay is about 28 years old.
This voice actor deserves so much credit. Mixing a genuinely broken man with a crusading badass is not something easily pulled off.
His name is Martin Roach and he's been in plenty of cartoons up north. I believe this is his best role ever.

Lol
Already my favorite character, how awesome..
I hope this is the main character !! He seems natural right?
Daniel Balan nope you get to create one from what I've heard
You don't create one. You play as a rookie sheriff. You only choose what gender and skin colour
Daniel Balan lol you're kidding right? this is a farcry game silly. you don't get to be the badass. You'll take your terrified improbably skilled kid protagonist and like it.
STFU DAWG!!
Sean O'Brien Okay time out, that was only Far Cry 3 and it made a damn good story, every Far Cry before Far Cry 3 and after it you were a grown man even in Far Cry 4 Ajay is about 28 years old.
