I watched this years ago, it had been at least a decade since I’d read a comic and this hooked me. I began watching all your videos and now I’m pushing 50 and read around 70-80 comic books a week. Thanks for bringing me back bro, I’ve spent the last few years catching up on what I missed since age 14 and I’ve expanded my horizons pertaining to what I read. Now I read everything. At 75 books a week you have to read everything. You should cover The Black Moon Chronicles, it was an enlightening experience if there ever was one. Phenomenal

Doom has been shown to become good, with him becoming Iron Man for a time and even coming to terms with his mother’s soul being in the hands of the devil. So stripping him of his free will, and any chance of redemption is wrong. Doing the right doesn’t mean it’s going to be the easiest or quickest, but we were given freewill for a reason.
I’d actually argue that the Doom of 616 should have been killed a long time ago. Doing good in the present doesn’t absolve you of your unpunished crimes in the past.

THIS. This is the PERFECT way to build up the FF after they're introduced in the MCU and solidify their significance, not only in the history of the MCU, but as their status as the First Family of comics. Not to mention, it'll give Marvel a chance to really show off both the cosmic and multiversal side of the MCU (and just how powerful Franklin Richards can be)... also, it can tie-in Annihilation Wave as a 6 movie arc (like what they're doing with the Hulk's 3 movie arc right now) involving the Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova. This is still almost a decade away, though. Have to do that all-too-important world-building, after all.
here from the future when f4 is announced as an upcoming MCU project, and the multiversal destruction also looks like it’s happening with avengers 6 being secret wars but i guess we’ll see how marvel does it

29:55 The first thing I couldn't help but think of (for SOME reason lol) was how boxers, mmartists, etc etc can have a tough time adjusting to "ring rust", aka their first fight or two back when returning from an injury, a suspension, etc etc... ...and the first thing Franklin Richards does, within like 2mins of getting his powers back, is manifest an entire POCKET DIMENSION under his covers lol. Like he's doing what normal kids do and sneaking a read of a book, or browsing their phone passed their bedtime, that sorta thing...except he's being a literal GOD. Absolutely bonkers. Franklin is truly frightening. Anytime the classic, "Marvel v.s. DC, who ya got?!" comes up and I hear someone choose DC I just auto-assume they're likely only a casual fan (or at most only a semi-devoted or old-school one) bc good LORD Marvel's reality-shapers are utterly OP. Owen Reese (pre-retcon after the Doom pep talk), Franklin Richards, & whatever #3 v.s. Manhattan, Supes 1,000,000 anddd...Idk, Batman w/ Supes 1mil. level prep time? Lol jokes aside, the outcome of that fight is fairly evident.
This is the 4th time I've watched/listened to this story and it get's me every time. The conclusion is AMAZING! I really hope the MCU include's some of the details from this story when they start their run of the Fantastic 4. Awesome job Rob!

you are absolutely right Rob. Hickman finds a way to bring the characters to life in a way that is true to the characters. He honors them and the fans in his writing. Others authors get so caught up in what they want to write that they almost forget that we've gotten to know these characters over the course of the last 6 decades. Hickman shows me the characters as who I've known them to be so perfectly. No downside. I am far less likely to hope for changes with his stories.
Such a thick and well pieced story! These characters, especially Reed and Franklin, are so human on a basic level yet so vastly intelligent....ive really, REALLY enjoyed this arc. Franklin could be a fantastic villain if they so wrote him.

Hickman has always stated public ally, that Byrne’s run on FF was a huge influence on his writing, and i always felt it showed in a very positive way.

Doom has been shown to become good, with him becoming Iron Man for a time and even coming to terms with his mother’s soul being in the hands of the devil. So stripping him of his free will, and any chance of redemption is wrong. Doing the right doesn’t mean it’s going to be the easiest or quickest, but we were given freewill for a reason.
If u listen, he said: "each iteration of Doom, which had aspired to evil." Thus leaving out those like the one you mentioned. So, still cool bruh.

I’d actually argue that the Doom of 616 should have been killed a long time ago. Doing good in the present doesn’t absolve you of your unpunished crimes in the past.

This is the PERFECT way to build up the FF after they're introduced in the MCU and solidify their significance, not only in the history of the MCU, but as their status as the First Family of comics. Not to mention, it'll give Marvel a chance to really show off both the cosmic and multiversal side of the MCU (and just how powerful Franklin Richards can be)... also, it can tie-in Annihilation Wave as a 6 movie arc (like what they're doing with the Hulk's 3 movie arc right now) involving the Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova. This is still almost a decade away, though. Have to do that all-too-important world-building, after all.
here from the future when f4 is announced as an upcoming MCU project, and the multiversal destruction also looks like it’s happening with avengers 6 being secret wars but i guess we’ll see how marvel does it

The first thing I couldn't help but think of (for SOME reason lol) was how boxers, mmartists, etc etc can have a tough time adjusting to "ring rust", aka their first fight or two back when returning from an injury, a suspension, etc etc...
...and the first thing Franklin Richards does, within like 2mins of getting his powers back, is manifest an entire POCKET DIMENSION under his covers lol. Like he's doing what normal kids do and sneaking a read of a book, or browsing their phone passed their bedtime, that sorta thing...except he's being a literal GOD.
Absolutely bonkers. Franklin is truly frightening. Anytime the classic, "Marvel v.s. DC, who ya got?!" comes up and I hear someone choose DC I just auto-assume they're likely only a casual fan (or at most only a semi-devoted or old-school one) bc good LORD Marvel's reality-shapers are utterly OP.

you are absolutely right Rob. Hickman finds a way to bring the characters to life in a way that is true to the characters. He honors them and the fans in his writing. Others authors get so caught up in what they want to write that they almost forget that we've gotten to know these characters over the course of the last 6 decades. Hickman shows me the characters as who I've known them to be so perfectly. No downside. I am far less likely to hope for changes with his stories.
Such a thick and well pieced story! These characters, especially Reed and Franklin, are so human on a basic level yet so vastly intelligent....ive really, REALLY enjoyed this arc. Franklin could be a fantastic villain if they so wrote him.
