Awesome. I tell ya what. I was already on a 125 when you ran supermini. I stopped after Loretta's in 99. Too many injuries. You hauled ass on hat CR80 bro. They had power but the suspension was a little soft. Shorter riders really kicked ass on the CR and RM.
i was there. he was 1-1/2 seconds a lap slower than the 250A class. For those who aren't familiar with classes, 250A is highest, fastest class before turning PRO. Ricky was a lil rocket. Eat your heart out Motley Crue!!
NO!....they all said he would flop cause he was short and fat...always had a chip on his shoulder....that's why he the 🐐. Most thought riders like Shae Bentley would transition to the pros better......
I remember u Hans . I used to hang out around the yrs of 2000 with a fast B/A rider named Tony graham and his goofy friend who was a C rider named Kile Moore. Kile was like the clown who somehow just hang out with u fast guys lol. I told him u were posting videos and he said hey I have Hans my favorite necklace on the start gate at an arena cross around 1999. Lol, he said he still remembers giving it to u while he was on the gate just because he looked up to u guys whether he showed it or not lol. He was like ask Hans how long he kept that ball bearing looking necklace lol
@Krazy WhiteBoy whichever one is cooler. I had the cooler one. My shit was always cool. Kids always came over and was like "omg that's so cool, your so cool" and at the time I was just like "that's so cool"
@Krazy WhiteBoy I get that the powerband isnt actually a real thing on the bike. It's the point in the rpms where the bike has it's most power. And that's a 2 stroke thing, kids on their 4 strokes these days wouldn't understand. I think my 100 was actually a kx80 that's had the big wheel kit, was bored out to a 100 and it was ported and all that, which made it really hard to keep the front tire down
I don't know if I was a Kawasaki fan because of Ricky. Or if I was a Ricky fan because of Kawasaki. I always rode a Yamaha, but I always wanted a KX 80 big wheel.
Gosh to think my dad was in his 20s at this time racing 250s he could have gone pro but didn’t want too, he’s the type that doesn’t like to be away from home and his family
He absolutely dominated everywhere but especially a gator back in muddy Creek obviously Loretta Lynn’s he won every amateur national championship he entered
jesus he's riding at the pace of a good 20 something, except its on a small 100cc and he's a kid, it just looks weird, you don't need to be an expert to see that kid was going to make it.
It would have been hilarious to see the comments if you would have showed that it wasn’t actually RC at the end. Someone: “RC was flying even at a young age…” Cue image of not RC
It's funny. Ricky was so fast because he didn't want to lose. It's not cause he was the most gifted rider. He was the most determined to not lose. And that being said it also needs to be said that he was very lucky with injuries where many more have not been, who where just as fast. So there is a lot of luck in this sport when you just thrown shit to the win, which in the end is what they end up doing to win. Ricky was just lucky to of crashed less, and to be less hurt when he did. Of course that can't take away from his talent. No doubt the guy could fucking ride. But he was fortunate in his career to of been hurt a lost less than other guys.
I agree with what you said except for the not the most gifted rider part. Certainly there were others riders maybe as gifted. But certainly he is one of the most gifted as well. I think your shorting him there slightly.
@@jordanonofer3886 Well he's definitely got the greatest record for sure. I wonder if anyone will ever come and place a claim on it, and at least equal it as Lewis Hamilton has done against Michael Schumacher championships.
The way I look at it is if they can go just as fast but they crash and get injured and Ricky could ride that fast and not get injured then the other where going above there consistent reliable speed where rc was obviously capable of that speed, I’ll agree there probably are other out there as talented on a bike, but his Career stats tell us he’s the fastest, most dominant and successful motocross racer, to take out people on rickys level is like putting people on McGrath’s level in supercross
I think in evaluating RC you can’t discount one of his biggest gifts: mental toughness. I don’t think you can teach that. Like, some people don’t think twice about skydiving, yet others would rather take a round than jump out of a plane. Add Big Rick and mom. Unbeatable combination
@@joski9030 I was 6'2" at 14, had the original Elsinore. My knees hit the handlebars. Also had the 250 Elsinore. The 125 was smaller in all points. The 100's and 80's were even smaller. Its even more impressive when you know how fast #121 Shae Bentley was.
What ever happened to Shae career?
So sick to see a young RC getting everything out of that supermini. Absolutely pinned!
I raced against him in the 1996-1998 in Englishtown NJ He is on another level
