The Duesenberg Caribou is a semi-hollow body guitar that features two pickups, a P90 in the bridge and a humbucker in the bridge. It comes in Narvik Blue and has a rosewood neck.
The Duesenberg Paloma is a solid body guitar with three pickups, two single coils and a humbucker in the bridge. It has a four way rotary pickup selector switch. It has a rosewood neck and also comes in Narvik Blue.

wunderbar, eben Duesenberg, made in Germany, das ist Qualität
great review and engaging performance... thanks for holding back on the jib jab and just getting down to the basics.. great job!
The caribou hum position was magic
Tried a red sparkle Paloma yesterday....I was blown away!! Pickups were bright and rich, fit and finish is amazing!! I'm always a bit cautious with trem systems, but found the Deusenberg trem to be fantastic!! No tuning issues, very responsive! I LOVE this guitar!
Did you try the Starplayer TV? I am on the fence
I was lucky enough to be able to visit Duesenberg in Hannover. Before I always bet on the star players but I was completely convinced by the Caribou. The sound is inimitable and in my opinion a masterpiece of guitar building.
Just found this comment and I'm so fascinated because I was planning on saving for a Starplayer TV, but I've been curious about the Caribou....
I prefer the Blue one ;-P I like them both!
What a brilliant demo and comparison, every detail relevant and displayed so well and someone who uses the trem musically !! That Mad Professor amp sounds lovely too
Looking at getting a second Duesy. I've had a blue sparkle Starplayer TV for about 5 years and it is one of my favorite guitars. The playability is fantastic, the trem is unparalled and it very well constructed.
I'm in the exact same boat with you. Just picked up a blue sparkle Starplayer TV recently and it has ruined me. Best darn guitar I've ever played. I've always wanted to play lap steel and I've really been eyeing the Dues Fairytale steel. I can see it happening in the future.
@@tossedpenny It is a phenomenal guitar isn't it? I rarely have to tune it, it's so rock solid. Speaking of lap steel, I came across a 1951 Supro with original case, cord, slides and booklet. A true under the bed/closet find. It was in perfect condition except the ivoroid tuners were crumbling. I had new ones to match put on and it sounds fantastic! It even had the pickup cover, which is often missing. Now I have to learn how to play it!
The middle position on starplayer is amazing but I've found its easily muddy though with volume cranked.
i picked up a Triton bass last week and i forgot i own a Fender 🤫😂
If I only had one guitar and that was it, I would probably pick the Caribou because it sounds more like traditional rock guitars. However, since I already have the typical single coil Fenders and humbucking Gibsons, I would select the Paloma because it would add a new and different set of tones to my stable.
I have the Caribou Narvik Blue and it’s truely a lovely guitar with a smooth neck. Great sounds on the Paloma too! Great to hear the difference, tx.
I have the Caribou and love it, but would love to have the Paloma too. They are such good lookers.
I have the Paloma in black. A dream come true! I do really like the P 90 of the Caribou.
@@tonezone4745 A Michael Kelly, a Breedlove and an Epiphone.
I would favor the Paloma. I’m not too crazy about the out-of-phase middle position on the Caribou. It’s the same as on my Fullerton CC. I don’t use the middle position. I also have the Bonneville which I absolutely love! Dual Humbuckers and all 3 positions are awesome. I would like the versatility of the 2 singles and 1 humbucker. My $.02. :)
weeeell... im glad i dont have the choose atm but going just by the sound i gotta say... Paloma. Which surprised me to be honest. i love hollowbody, have a gretsch, and just fell in love w/ the semihollowlooks of the caribou BUT... i def like the presented sound and variability of the Paloma better. Nice playing. well done.
thanks bro ;-)
I’d have the Caribou! It sounds awesome and i’m really digging the way it looks.
They used to make a Caribou with the same 3 pickup configuration as the Paloma. I tried to order it, but they don't make it anymore.
Great demo thank you.
@@tonezone4745 Not yet, but Duesenberg is in my top 3 for next possible guitar.
Thank you Jean. Hope you get to play one in the future!
Nicely played!
Thanks Kevin
How does the paloma stack up along side the Starplayer TV?
I purchased the Paloma (Narvik) 3 days ago & can’t find consistent description of position 2 on the pickup selector. The shop advised it’s neck + middle but since then equal reviews on google & youtube are saying its neck + middle and neck + bridge. Does anyone know which it is with certainty? The Duesenberg website doesn’t discuss and the very brief manual is silent on this. Tx in advance.
Impossible to find… im buying one but honestly who cares as long as it sounds good? If you have it, just poke the pickup with something metal and you will hear which pickups are activated
Great video and comparison. But if You own a 2013 Caribou (with three pickups) that is the best choice.
Bonjour de France.
J'ai une caribou et c'est juste magnifique d'un point de vue sonore, beaucoup souhaitent me la racheter...
C'est juste un choix totalement différent entre douceur, profondeur tout en ayant le diable au corps.
Love to have a paloma and either a gran royale or majesto with full radiator trem.
What about the Double Cat?
I like the Paloma, my style of sound. yep !!
Lequel de ces 2 modèles serait le plus adapté pour jouer un style plus typé rock stoner par exemple ? Merci
are you sure second position is neck + bridge?
If you’re a strat player and want something different in a very upscale way and sound then the Paloma is a mic drop
Is Paloma guitar also good for rock 'n roll ?
Depends on which features want, i got a Caribou and it really was the right choice for me!
Sorry I'm a bit of a newby when it comes to guitars, how come the third setting of the Paloma was the middle and bridge pickups and not just the middle pickup? Is it not possible to play the middle pickup in isolation?
No but no one does on strat anyway 😂
I don’t know both are awesome !!!!
Caribou all the way. The 3p version would be a better comparison.
Great guitar
Nothing sounds better, or am I wrong?.
Duezzies forever!!!!!!
Set neck Strat means no more resonance ‘leaking’ or diffusing at the bolt. You can hear it, and it’s better.
great for live , rich sounds! im not sure wich would be best in a reccording situation , bolt on is easier to work out with stacked analog pedals but could be just me . i got a jaguar and a les paul, i did put ceramics since i think they sound a bit "compressed" already . ( than my compressor is one of the always on anyway) i have 2 pedal boards and only one of them ahve compressor. (it s just easier to have multiple settings) . get a good compressor with your strat you ll get a lot of sustain , as much as you want :)
Is the neck really rosewood? That's uncommon.
These Doozies always get pretty clean reviews, which they ought to have, but they are badass on high gain and fuzz tones as well. Just try!
As a matter of fact I do use them like that. Just chose not to do so that day! Thanks for the feedback ;-)
@david piedfort! Super job !

Why the PALOMA is the best choice - quite decissive title! Me personally, I like more the Caribou... No thumbs down for this, but the title is too drastic.
I dig the Paloma.
I'd play either one but am more of a fan of solid bodied guitars. I always prefered a single coil in the neck position of any guitar over a P90
P90 is a single coil.
@@glenntorrence7605 You know what I mean.
How can the guitars sound different if they are the same color?
Hilarious 😂
Je prends... La bleue... Ou la rouge...
