There was a timed race because they couldnt race past 8:20 PM. After the clock hits 0, thecnext ap would be 2 laps to go.
If you think about it, this race shouldn't have went past 8:00pm. Realistically should be a 2:00pm race, 3:30pm local is too late and doesn't account for delays.
Bowman is a stupidly underrated road racer. He's constantly finished well and has never finished outside the top 10 at the Charlotte Roval and never finished outside the top 5 at COTA.
Hes a very consistent driver all around. Every win of his career has come at a different track. He got a severe concussion in 2022 after making the playoffs. And last was actually the points leader before he broke a vertebrae in his back in a dirt racing accident where i flipped violently. Its been a long road back, but he's my driver and has been for a long time.
Wendy's as a sponsor is cursed at Chicago. Noah Gragson last year hit the Turn 6 wall 4 times last year. Noah Gragson's rookie season can only be described as "The Rookie Season From Hell"
Tyler Reddick and Christopher Bell were on the same strategy at the end. They both pit for fresh tires with 2 laps left in the second stage. A bunch of guys like Joey Hand and Alex Bowman stayed out on old tires trying to stay up front until the clock expired. Christopher Bell was on the move but crashed, Tyler Reddick almost won the race but hit the wall on the final lap.
The clock thing had never been used before, they just started doing that this year. Only if a track didn't have lights and had to be finished by sunset.

SVG was on course to win that race and sweep the weekend until he got wrecked by Briscoe.
Those trucks have basically jet engines in the back of them. Very loud but it drys the track quicker than anything else available. The are known as Jet dryers, Air Titans or Air Tundras. You need to look up Juan Pablo Montoya jet dryer incident. Something that has never been seen before in motorsports.

The brain injury Bowman mentioned was in the 2022 playoff Texas race. The first year of the Gen 7 car had some issues, the back end especially. Kurt Busch had a career ending crash at Pocono during qualifying, but in any other generation of car he would've been completely fine. Alex Bowman's car no joke had no damage whatsoever after the crash and got a concussion. The Gen 7 car in 2022 was unsafe.

Pocono next. Last year Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlins rivalry started there when Denny put Larson in the fence. Should be fun

It’s was a good race but nascar really screwed up big time.. Bringing out the red and waiting so long to start the race.
Yah bowman broke his back in a dirt race last year missed a handful of races didn’t have a good year last year

Remember there being a giant triangle as a race track back when you were watching? Yeah, were going there next weekend. Expect at least one person to hit the turn 1 wall at 170 mph because that seems to happen almost every year. 🫤

@Bklynreau Always has been. The only differences is that there is no longer grass at the insides of the turns and it's a lot more narrow. They're not going to risk having another Elliot Sadler type crash.
