Pulled home 2 more Oliver combines today and already found another! And it’s funny because all were within 4 miles of each other!
Cool!
It's great to see another tractor running again hope your exhibit at the fair goes well
Thanks Doug!
Hate to say it but it makes feel good when I see others struggling like I do! LOL, we are not alone love the VAC!
🤣 thanks!
That tractor didn’t want to leave the shed!
It didn’t want to leave the fair either as you will see in future videos 🤣
Your a magician. ! Never saw anyone who can always pull the part needed out of his back pocket ,or fix the one you have . No hurdles to big ,no sadness to great . 👍 God. Bless
….And for my next trick, watch me pull sadness out of my 🎩🤣🤣🤣Thanks Mark!
Great video Ross. The old Case was just being a little thick headed, but your persistence paid off. Great job.
Thanks Keith!
proud got the little tractor running
Much sadness turned into happiness in the end good job Ross
Thanks Stephen!
I just bought a 1950 VAC for $800 with brand new tires and battery a couple weeks ago. It's a handy little tractor, I think I will keep it! It's in too rough of condition to be worth painting it up, but it runs just smooth and the transmission is quiet. I need to bring it home from the Hystorical Foundations grounds and see what it can do on my dyno for fun.
Cool!
@rosstheoliverman I'm currently uploading a short of my VAC on the dyno. In case you're interested. I need more tractors so I can make more dyno videos! Or friends with tractors.
Looks like that distributor has a ton of slop in it . Glad to see the ole Case running again . And i remember the Arby's sandwich meme lol. See
🤣🤣🤣
That's an Autolite distributor. Standard Blue Streak points number AL4556P condenser number AL111. I have a 49 VAC myself. One thing most people don't realize the original 6 volt systems on a Case were positive ground on the Rock Island built tractors and negative ground on the Racine built.
That’s interesting, I would’ve thought they would keep it standard, but I suppose everybody likes to do it their way.
You are the hero that the tractor needs!
Thanks John!!
I'm new to your channel. As a farmer of 50 years I feel that 45 of them were spent doing what you did in this video. I recognize every grunt, move, and exclamation. Well done. Really good videos.
🤣 Thank you!!
Now I know what you were doing when I sent that message. Arby's 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Ross that good you got the tractor running🎉👍👏👍 thanks Michael
Thanks Michael!
Great work , your on the case with that one, thanks for sharing your adventures 👍💨💨
🤣 thanks Darren!
I thought about every name one could call some item. Gadgets, Widgets, and the list would overload UA-cam. You should do like I always did and still do when I am working on some project, I carried a pair of Snap-On 6" pliers (given to me by a customer who worked at Snap-On, and was a quality reject), a Snap-On 6" crescent wrench, which could be used to repair most small jobs. I was watching to see if you leaned into that spinning belt pulley. You need a 40' gooseneck trailer with a 12,000 lb winch. Great video, you make all of us laugh at your problems.
When I worked at the dealer we all carried pliers. It was super handy. Thanks Gary!
That beautiful tractor great tractor I’m about got my farmall cub up running thanks another guy help me
Cool!
Good job Ross. You have so much more patience than I do seems you don’t get discouraged very easy.
Great video 👍
Thanks 👍
I was really hopeful that it would run. And you didn't let me down. I'm too far away to see what you have for your exhibit at the fair so maybe you could do a little video on it. Thanks for sharing and I'll see you soon.
I am an auction nut and a tractor nut. Maybe just a nut period. Been to hundreds of auctions seen hundreds of tractors. Had a case vac at 1 point for a short time. Never have I seen one with a sparkplug cover. That has to be an unusual piece. I would say most were taken off and thrown under a bench decades ago.
I think so too. Thanks Pete!
Your comment about not doing things the right way, reminds me of an Andrew Jackson quote, "It is a poor mind that can think of only one way to spell a word."
🤣🤣🤣 thanks!
To stop the pulley there’s a set bolt on housing, loosen it out and pull the pulley out to disengage it.
Grew up on a '48 and a '50 VAC. The later Case had eagle hitch and was a stronger runner. They could be contrary, but had adequate power when used within their capabilities. Dad always liked the fact that there was a lot of iron in them. You seem to have the magic touch to get contrary critters to run!!! Hope you're able to make it a fair piece.
Thanks Don!
Its just like my old 🤬 skid loader, try crawling into the hole between the loader frame and lift cylinder, to change the points, it sucks. Thats either a prestolight or autolight distributor, the napa points are good for this application 👍
Skidloaders are no fun to work on for sure
If your original replacement switch was from Steiner be thankful that it didn't fit.... I had 2 with a crank time of 2 minutes before I bought a Standard brand switch.
The second one I bought is much better quality you can tell. I agree with you there
My wife says I am a "pro" a procrastinator 😂
🤣🤣🤣
😮 I notice that the distributor shaft is WIGGLY ! Not Good .. Suggest replacing shaft bearings . I use a thin file on points . Great video. Thanks
Yup. It’s not very good. Thanks Thomas!
Ross what year that case tractor, was great grandpa tractor and what year that john deere tractor? Thanks again answer my questions great video keep up good work thanks again
I think it’s a 1949 case. The B John Deere is a 48. Thanks Derek!
The VAC that we had would not start electronically but you crank by hand it would run right now.
I know this one definitely has been trying my patience 🤣
Ross, do I see another green Fiat in the background?
Thanks for your content. I love it and I don’t need GoJo when the work is done.
You will see two more pretty soon 😉 thanks John!
Is that cockshutt 50 in the barn ,when you going to work on the cockshutts around the farm
Yes. A 50 diesel. It’s super rough. It’s on the list for the future
You should just install an IGNITOR KIT FROM PERTRONIX,, AND MAKE IT ELECTRONIC IGNITION!! I think that's an auto lite distributor. And you also should put an alternator on it too! To keep your battery charged!!! Or maybe you need to just stick with OLIVERS THERE HARDY!!
I don’t have a lot of love in my heart for pertronix.
Arby’s huh. If that meme is the one is saw it did remind me of Arby’s lmao!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just got 2 slab weights for my 1800, what bolts are needed to mount to the starter weight
They’re 3/4”. Just make sure you get them long enough that they go into the starter weight far enough.
I don't think I heard the back story how did you aquire the case
Bought it at an auction from an old man who used to work at the co-op. He had a Cockshutt 20 that I really wanted, but it brought way more than I could afford.
Thanks for answering back I appreciate hearing from you.
👍
As to the cows mooing to annoy you, what else have they got to do?
🤣🤣🤣
👨🔧🚜🚜👍👍
Thanks Tom!
Hay Ross what case model number yours
VAC
It’s beautiful tractor I’m looking add another one my collection
Ross, HUH? the disrespect you showed to that "Little VAC" was major offensive to me,. My Dad bought a brand new VAC Case tractor in 1950. It powered a one tractor farm. Born in '46 I started driving and working the /case in 1952 at age 6. Neighbors had other brands of tractors. JD A and B models were not competitive Farm all M models were similar and near equal, Rarely some neighbors had a MMoline, some even were foolish to farm with Ford tractors. That Case was superior to all of them. NO Olivers in my county, Possibly inferior possibly no dealers to sell them. As to your skills as a mechanic I recommend you work o0nly on erector sets.
I built a tractor out of an erector set once. It could do more work than a VAC Case.
Corruption is just another form of tyranny
Throw the tea into the harbor!
Jump start it
Yup
Leave it at home, this one needs more time and attention. After all it is not an Oliver. :)
🤣 it made it anyway but I wish it had stayed home as you will see in future videos
Enjoy the fair, don’t eat too many funnel cakes.
🤣 thanks Cory!
Buy new battery
Expensive
Such screwed up stuff, I had to leave.
🤣🤣🤣
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Paul!
