- Known as "Pennsylvania's Most Scenic Excursion Railroad" The Tioga Central Railroad. View this former Excursion Railroad in Action from inside the Cab of former Delaware and Hudson Railroads Alco RS3U number 506 and from trackside. Sadly in 2021 this operation ceased to exist and was closed down. We have preserved this Excursion on DVD video for all to Enjoy!

The Tioga Central Railroad welcomes you aboard a Special Rare Mileage Excursion. We begin this presentation with a scenic ride in the cab of Tioga Centrals ex D&H RS3U number 506. As we start our trip a brief rain shower has just occurred, the sun is now shining brightly and soon the effects of the rain shower will clear up. The spring time colors and the sights of this area are breathtaking. In the cab of the locomotive we enjoy the scenery starting near the North End of the Line near Corning, New York. After our trip south in the locomotive we board one of the Historic Passenger Cars and take in the awesome views from the open vestibule Dutch doors as we return back north towards Corning. Later in the day after arriving at Wellsboro we join Volunteer Bill Loizeaux as he describes the Classic Passenger Cars and equipment of the Tioga Central Railroad!

I totally agree, this was one of the Best Excursion Trains to ride in the Country. Unfortunately this is now part of Railroad History.
That RS3U is now pull trains on the Arcade & Attica Railroad. If one is lucky it might be your power on one of their passenger excursions.
However I miss those old Empire Express specials from Tioga Junction to Gang Mills.

Love this video, such a shame this wonderful railroad shut down! Does anyone know what kind of bell is on 506? I've heard it before on older ALCOs, but I never quite put together what it was. Bronze?
