  • The Year 2009 marks a Special Time in History for the AC&J Railroad. A Special Event was held on July 11th and 12th, 2009 to Celebrate the Railroads 25th Year in Business!
This former Historic New York Central Line Dates back to 1863 and has been an important part of the transportation system of this area since its founding.
After the merger of the New York Central and Pennsylvania Railroads in 1968 the line became part of the Penn Central Railroad and later in 1976 it was taken over by Conrail.
Conrail was about to abandon the line in 1984 when the Ashtabula Carson and Jefferson Railroad stepped in and took over operations beginning that year. The AC&J Railroad has brought prosperity and success in the form of both Freight and Passenger Rail Service to this area of Northeastern Ohio.
To help commemorate this Special Event a Vintage 1925 Steam Locomotive was brought in to power the Passenger Excursion Trains on that Historic Weekend.
Ride along with us in the Cab of the Steam Locomotive and also view this Special Train in Action Trackside from Jefferson to Carson Ohio and return. We also pace the train during a back up move from the seat of a speeder car plus much more!
Congratulations to the AC&J Railroad and a Special Thank You for your Friendly Railfan Operation!

We all do. I remember riding them all the time as a younger kid. The Christmas train in 2012 or 2013 I believe is the last one I got to ride.

@@nicholasmedovich8691 I will have to do some research on that. The AC&J did purchase the open air car from the former Knox and Kane Railroad. I believe it was used on the train that operated out of Marienville, Pennsylvania. The AC&J Railroad ended their tourist operation several years ago. They are mainly a freight shortline railroad now.

@@nicholasmedovich8691 I did find some information online that some of the AC&J Railroad Passenger Cars were originally built for the Long Island Railroad. I do remember Steamtown having cars just like these, what I'm not sure of is if the AC&J Railroad Passenger Cars were ever used on the Steamtown Railroad operation. It may take me some time to do some digging to find the answer to the question, I am now also curious myself. I spent 6 years working part time as one of the Conductor's on the AC&J Railroad Excursion Trains and helped with the Freight operation before I relocated to Texas. I starting working here as a shortline railroad locomotive engineer in 2010 and will soon have 13 years working my dream job!
