I'm the 1348 suscriber that likes your awesome ideas, Mr. Houweling that looks like we can make super fast repetitive dead center drilling in whatever size of material you are using, even if you change the drill bit it's gonna centered always. Plain WOW, thanks for sharing it with the world!!!
I have been looking for a self centering jig/vice for a drill press for over 2 years on the internet. All I found were for pens and dowels or cost way too much. Imagine my suprise when I looked again this morning and found this video. thank you a million.
Okay, I know that I'm late for this party, but I'll echo the folks who say, "Brilliant!" I watched this video and the center marking jig video, and the whole subject is simply that - brilliant. Gonna build one of these ASAP. Thanks for posting it!
Ce J Houweling est une véritable encyclopédie du bricolage et en plus il est bien sympathique. Bravo et merci pour les idées qu'il nous offre généreusement et qui sont généralement simples à mettre en oeuvre.
Hi Jack! I love your ideas. Thank you so much for sharing ... I am reviewing old projects, which I intend to put into practice. Some, like the morgue, I did and it worked very well! I always wish for health and peace.
The best part of this jig is that the holes can be drilled anywhere on the work piece's centerline. The other jigs -- that use a marker equidistant between two dowels -- cannot do that. Good work!
I think it would be an awesome idea to adapt this jig to a router table for making precise mortises and grooves. Great idea by the way. Love your channel! :)
Great idea. I built one for my drill press and it works wonderfully. I thought of an additional idea using this jig. Drill through the side of a dowel with the hole aligned with center line of the axis of the dowel. Lay a dowel in the jig so that the sides of the parallelogram cradle the dowel and don't touch or just touches the other sides of the paralelogram. The geometry of the dowel, the jig and the drill press would limit what size of dowel that could be drilled.
Jack, I have a jig for drilling centre of any piece of wood with parallel sides. Place a pegs or dowels equidistant on either side of the drill centre, but they must be in straight line with the drill centre. Place the wood touching the pegs on either side and the drill will centre it. Colin from Northern Ireland
Clever idea Jack. Ever thought of producing something like this for a table saw? So that you can dado rails and stiles from any thickness of wood and always down the center.
Great Video Jack on a simple but very useful jig. Thanks for posting up. When I need a centered hole on a piece of stock, I'll turn to this video and make the jig. Very well done..
Jack, me encantan tus videos e ideas. A pesar de tus pequeñas limitaciones se te ve con muchas ganas de enseñar. Nuevamente te felicito. Me he vuelto un fanatico de tus videos. Saludos desde Chile
Interesting, for 40 years I have this little centering plastic thing called hinge centering tool. For RC airplanes.. same as this, only tiny.. now need one for my shop.. great idea
I'd adapt this to a table saw sled but I haven't figured out how to stop it from pinching the blade when cutting a piece exactly into two equal parts. Centering a dado would work pretty well however.
Great idea. Prevent pinching by replacing opposite corner bolts with wing-nuts. So snug-up jig to work piece and tighten nuts thereby holds position without applying additional inward pressure on blade.
awesome Jack never would of thought of that-- Jack i would like to send you one my copper bracelets i make i wear mine every day --i'm gonna have to make that jig nice work
Mr. Houweling you always make some cool stuff but this one would get a lot of use in my shop. Just not sure of the dowel placement, I must be over thinking it, is there a diagram I could view somewhere.
So by putting a spacers you can make a lot of new tricks, how about making this jig to always drill as much as the spacer is from the one side, is this applicable? Part my English, I'm Greek.
I would think that since you close the jig around the bit, it would pull the table to center and the dowels would only need to be fairly close to center, eh? Love this idea. I was also wondering the same thing as +Bbendfender
I made one based on your design and it works perfectly!! Thanks for the idea. I realized that precise wood pieces are not necessary for everything. only 2 places matter. I explain on a video I posted on UA-cam. Click my name to see it (I tried to post a link but it doesn't stay). Thanks for sharing your awesome jig!!

Jack, I look forward to your videos each week and this week you took it a bit higher. Great job! One of the better ideas I've seen for awhile.
You are an inspiring woodworker. I get new ideas from most of your videos.

This jig will be the default one on my drill press once I get it. Very clever.

Now that's a new way to use that jig! On a drill press. Love it.
I like the simplicity of the jig. Excellent!

Jack, you're amazing, really enjoy your videos!
I was curious to see how you would line it up, I didn't see it commin. It was so obvious! I like it a lot, very clever
Jack, congratulations to the fruitfull marriage of the science (geometry) and the daily-praxis!
thats really handy ,no measuring ,no fuss ,and repeated accuracy.
Congratulations..! Another great idea! PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING! What work background do you come from?
Very handy and oh so often useful. Congratulations with your work, as always.
Great idea Jack! Can use the same technique to make a jig for round stock - just make two of them one on top of another. Thank You!
Nice I'm a welder but making one out of steel should work too. Great video explained very well
Brilliant idea. Good video, right to the point and very informative.
I cannot stop watching your videos...do you have a tip jar?
Really ingenious definitely making this one, thanks Jack

Excellent idea. Thank you once again for sharing Jack.
very good job , I'm from Uruguay and I wonder if that also can be applied to grooved wood thank you very much
Wow. What a time saver. Nice work.
Really simple idea and build ingeniously conceived.
Interesting, for 40 years I have this little centering plastic thing called hinge centering tool. For RC airplanes.. same as this, only tiny.. now need one for my shop.. great idea
Thank you for sharing. This is extremely useful jig. It is on my list of things to do now.
Simple and I would have never thought of that! Thanks for sharing.
Very cool idea...would have taken a lot of time to think about using a parallelogram for centering....
Jack, great idea, so simple .. thx for uploading
Great jig. Thank you very much. As always your videos are very informative.

That,s a really clever idea. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Wow! That would be very helpful! Thank you for sharing. I'm definitely going to make one.
Very nice jig. thanks for showing it to us.
Very clever and very simple! Thanks for the vid!
Is there a reason you used dowels for the middle of the sides rather than machine screws?
Thanks for the video, it's a grewat help for me.
Gracias por cargar el video ha resultado muy instructivo para mi.
Nice. Would be great to have something similar for circles.
Good for pen blanks. Maybe a taller back rail for a fence. Thanks. Good job.
I really like it! Simple and brilliant!
Note to self: another one I have to make.
Brill, simple and thanks
Thanks Jack that's a great idea! - Chris
Sr. Jack adimiro seus videos são otimos PARABENS.
Great idea, thank you for sharing it.
Absolutely ingenious. Thanks!
Cojonudo, Jack, very very nice
Very nice job, thanks for sharing!

How do you determine the position of the holes for the dowels on the base plate. This may be a stupid question after I try to make one of these.
I would think that since you close the jig around the bit, it would pull the table to center and the dowels would only need to be fairly close to center, eh?
Love this idea. I was also wondering the same thing as +Bbendfender
It doesn't matter. What makes it center is at 4:19, he locks in at center.
Wonderful idea, thanks for sharing.

Really terrific. Thanks!
Muito bom Jack! Parabéns . . .
Merci beaucoup Jack.
Je me dépêche de faire le mien !...
Merci du partage...
Классная идея - супер !
I made this but I had to force it to get it to close. What did I do wrong?
