    I'm the 1348 suscriber that likes your awesome ideas, Mr. Houweling that looks like we can make super fast repetitive dead center drilling in whatever size of material you are using, even if you change the drill bit it's gonna centered always. Plain WOW, thanks for sharing it with the world!!!

    I have been looking for a self centering jig/vice for a drill press for over 2 years on the internet. All I found were for pens and dowels or cost way too much. Imagine my suprise when I looked again this morning and found this video. thank you a million.

    Okay, I know that I'm late for this party, but I'll echo the folks who say, "Brilliant!" I watched this video and the center marking jig video, and the whole subject is simply that - brilliant. Gonna build one of these ASAP. Thanks for posting it!

    Ce J Houweling est une véritable encyclopédie du bricolage et en plus il est bien sympathique. Bravo et merci pour les idées qu'il nous offre généreusement et qui sont généralement simples à mettre en oeuvre.

    Hi Jack! I love your ideas. Thank you so much for sharing ... I am reviewing old projects, which I intend to put into practice. Some, like the morgue, I did and it worked very well! I always wish for health and peace.

    The best part of this jig is that the holes can be drilled anywhere on the work piece's centerline. The other jigs -- that use a marker equidistant between two dowels -- cannot do that. Good work!

    This jig will be the default one on my drill press once I get it. Very clever.

    I think it would be an awesome idea to adapt this jig to a router table for making precise mortises and grooves. Great idea by the way. Love your channel! :)

    Great idea. I built one for my drill press and it works wonderfully. I thought of an additional idea using this jig. Drill through the side of a dowel with the hole aligned with center line of the axis of the dowel. Lay a dowel in the jig so that the sides of the parallelogram cradle the dowel and don't touch or just touches the other sides of the paralelogram. The geometry of the dowel, the jig and the drill press would limit what size of dowel that could be drilled.

    Jack, I have a jig for drilling centre of any piece of wood with parallel sides. Place a pegs or dowels equidistant on either side of the drill centre, but they must be in straight line with the drill centre. Place the wood touching the pegs on either side and the drill will centre it. Colin from Northern Ireland

    I'd adapt this to a table saw sled but I haven't figured out how to stop it from pinching the blade when cutting a piece exactly into two equal parts. Centering a dado would work pretty well however.

    • @gr8dvd
      @gr8dvd 8 років тому +1

      Great idea. Prevent pinching by replacing opposite corner bolts with wing-nuts. So snug-up jig to work piece and tighten nuts thereby holds position without applying additional inward pressure on blade.

    How do you determine the position of the holes for the dowels on the base plate. This may be a stupid question after I try to make one of these.

    • @LordKaladar
      @LordKaladar 8 років тому

      I would think that since you close the jig around the bit, it would pull the table to center and the dowels would only need to be fairly close to center, eh?
      Love this idea. I was also wondering the same thing as +Bbendfender
