    The jig is really impressive but... your generosity in sharing it even more so. Also, as a person with a limited ability to think "spatially", I really appreciate what an excellent teacher you are. Many thanks.

    Great job on your tooling Tommy. I have made about 30 four person boards and maybe a dozen 6 person boards. I have templates for the the three different patterns, and index from one pin to the next, but your approach is more sophisticated and two steps better. I love learning new tricks. Now, how about your process for making Pins? I just use Lightbright pins but would build my own IF it isn't too time consuming.

    Nice, looked complicated at first. You explained the process very well. Only problem I noticed was a Curmudgeon in the background. I follow him as well as I am a woodworker and have started weaving in the past year. His videos are a huge help. Thank you😁

    Thank you Tommy for sharing your wonderful idea. I was thinking of making a template with 3mm holes 96 mm on center to build a template to place the holes on my workbench. Once those hole are accurately positioned, I could proceed to make the dog holes using a 20 mm brad point drill bit in conjunction with a DrillMate drill guide to drill the final on my work bench making an accurate mft style top without a CNC.

    Great idea, and one that I intend to apply to one of my projects! Would you mind including more detail on how to make the spring loaded device you are using? Thank you!

    • @TommyTompkins
      @TommyTompkins 4 роки тому +1

      Sorry for the late reply. The spring loaded device is just a spring over a dowel that is housed in a block of plywood pieces that have been glued and pin nailed together. After writing that sentence, I realize that it's hard to explain without diagrams and pictures lol! I'll try to find some time to add more detail around this.

    Wanted to share an idea that I have for making my own version of this game.
    1: Every piece would be made of different wood types.
    2: Each player would choose a cor for their base. There will be a hole where the home and start are and the player that chooses let's say Red for their Cherry wood base can put their color in that hole with magnets.
    I also wanna change the design so it can work with a 3 player triangle design.
    Any tips, or am I crazy?

    I like this jig a lot. I am a woodworker who loves coming up with jigs to make things more quickly and more accurately. I’m sure you tried doing this task using a master template as your guide in drilling 3 or more target pieces at once. What was your experience with that? Did it take longer than what you needed up with here?
    How has your back been since your surgery? I’ve suffered with a bad back for most of my adult life. I went through fusion (L5/S1) 5 years ago and it worked for a while but the pain is back. I keep thinking there has to be a fix to this that really works. Did your surgery in Germany come out of your savings or did your insurance cover it?

      Glad you like the jig! I don't have a CNC machine which is why I didn't use one. But if I had one, I would probably time it and see if myself (with the jig) or the CNC is faster.

    • @TommyTompkins

      If the holes went all the way through the boards then yes, that would have been a good idea. But the holes only go into the boards 3/4 of the way.

    Looks like a 12" Dewalt GP RAS in the background. And another round arm 50's Dewalt RAS. How many do you have now? In addition to your grandpas 1960 925?

    • @TommyTompkins
      @TommyTompkins 3 роки тому

      Yep that's an old GP and the other is a 1030 round arm that I hope to get in the bench and make it my main saw one of these days. I've been too busy to give them the attention they need. I had a few others but I sold them because I was running out of walking space in my shop!
