    This is super helpful! I realized recently that I use the word “get” so much that I need to translate my English before I can translate to Spanish. I’m working on replacing “get” in my English conversations with the words I mean. Hopefully it will help me come up with the words quicker in Spanish too.

    I have been watching this Channel for 2 months now. I knew nothing when I started . I am learning a lot everyday. Since This video series for beginners It would be better if you explain all the words and verbs form more. For beginners we learn only some percent and forget some of them in a sort time. So repeating even basic things would help to remember and fill the gaps again . What I do is , I watched all of your videos with light effort first. I believe I got 30-50 percent of the lessons with this method . I did not force myself to learn 100 percent first ,It works for math not for language I think.. Because our brain resist new -different things you should not force it in the beginning otherwise it resist more and you dont want to study. After couple of days it will be a habit for your brain and little by little you will start to enjoy it. I appreciate for your lessons. You are the one makes Spanish easy . Thanks a lot

    Gracias por la lección profe. Soy expatriado que vive en Cuenca, Ecuador y continuamente navego por los matices del uso del idioma español (y por supuesto, el uso varía un poco según la región). Your employment of "tengo que" at the end of this video, brought to mind the difficulties that anglohablantes have with the nuances of "necesitar", "tener que", y "deber". In English we commonly use "need", "must", and "should" interchangeably, but, as you well know, in Spanish that isn't always the case. Perhaps people would find a video(s) of those nuances helpful. Que tenga buen día.

    This is a really good lesson. I'm English, and realized a couple of years ago that the English use of "to get" was just lazy and doesn't use the correct verb. I think that its worse in the USA, but sadly we follow along a few years later.

    • @ninadouglas6289
      @ninadouglas6289 3 роки тому +1

      It’s not necessarily “lazy” the word does allow for the different uses, you find them in the dictionary.

    • @gbeana81
      @gbeana81 3 роки тому

      I agree that it is somewhat lazy. Even though “get” can technically be used in many ways, over using it can still cause confusion. We could aim to reduce confusion by using words other than “get”, but we don’t. Sometimes we use it twice in one sentence ie: “I’ve got to get that” or “I’ve got to get going” or “I get what he’s getting at”. I live in the US and had the realization recently that we use “get” so much that we really only know what everyone is saying because of context. It makes it harder for native English speakers to learn another language and for non-native English speakers to learn English.

    "I got the check." My initial thought was you meant "la cuenta" (i.e., restaurant bill). Which then implies "I'll pay it." or "This one's on me." La pagaré. So it led me to wonder how you express the idea that it's my treat (this time)? This one's on me.
    But it appears you are speaking about the good old-fashioned paper cheque issued by banks, then....never mind!

    • @TheProverbialHater

    • @TheProverbialHater
      @TheProverbialHater 3 роки тому

      @@taranaagarwal7349 Context... Reflexive verbs is something you generally do to yourself/themselves/herself/himself in laymen's terms. Like you "wake up", or you bath/shower, but the exact translation from Spanish to English would be "I bath myself" or "I wake myself up".. So when you use "mejorarse" it means "to improve oneself" or "to get well" or it could mean "to get better" in context... So context is key as it relates to sickness when you say "mejorarse" do you improve yourself? No... You don't... Or do you get well yourself? No... Do you "get better" well yeah, but not in the sickness context because you don't get yourself better when you're sick... You get help from someone else. Now, you can "get better" at weightlifting... You do that to yourself and the context would be correct. Context here is key. Getting better from being sick is something you generally do with help of your mother or doctor, not by yourself or done by "oneself". But you can make yourself sick... You have to be the object for which the action is done to, to use a reflexive properly and even then context is very important.
