Thank you for this video and nice comments. It is good even for us, croatian citizens, that someone reminds us from time to time how beautiful Croatia is.
You definitely get a healthy mix of highways and tight roads in Croatia. I loved both in Croatia, as long as I didn't try to back up on the tight roads. 😀
Nice Scenic Shots. But Jadranska Magistrale (D8 Coast-Line) isn't a Highway. This is just a Country Road and normaly its Limited to 100 km/h [62 mph] outside of Cities and about 50 km/h [31 mph] inside Cities. There used to be a lot of accidents, so the limit was often lowered to 60-70 km/h [37-43 mph]. Motorways/Highways in Croatia, like in many other countries, are marked with an A. e.g. A1, A3, A8.... (Autocesta) and on the most of them have 2 or 3 Lanes per Direction and u can drive around 130km/h [80 mph]....
Thank you for the additional information. In the USA many two-lane roads are considered highways, even the Country Road, just a bit different terminology. Your information was definitely helpful though, I appreciate it.
Thank you for the nice video. One advice for slow sightseeing drivers, wherever you drive: please check your rear view mirrors every so often and stop aside at a suitable spot to let the accumulated row of cars behind you pass by.
Good day! Next time when you visit Croatia, try to drive along the coast from Istria (int airport Pula) lets say from city of Rovinj and then drive towards Dubrovnik. If you have time visit islands Krk-Cres-Mali Losinj and Pag (from NW to SE). From city of Senj towards Starigrad including island of Pag, you can find many locations where car companies are testing or making comercials for their new products. You also have beautiful highway from Rijeka towards Zagreb, beautiful road through mountain region from Zadar towards Zagreb, beautiful roads through continental parts. Regarding cliffs next to roads/highways, we have road patrols operating on daily basis which check and clean the roads of any rock or similar on the road. Brgds
Thank you for the info. Returning to Croatia is definitely on my list. Island hopping is what I had planned last time, but only got to visit Korcula, which was well worth it. I find Croatia to be extraordinarily beautiful.

Shall we take the coastal route, D8-414 or the big highway? Any advices are greatly appreciated. Chris
As long as you're together you should be fine. That border crossing is easy to get through. Once you're past it, stay on the coastal road for a scenic drive. The other way is quicker, but all highway and not as scenic. 🙂

Thanks for this video. I am planning to go Sept last week and was searching on the driving experience. This video helped!!! Just a question - Will I get honked if driving a bit slow?
Croatia gets really busy in July, crowded and full of people, it can also be very warm/hot in July. I recommended the end of September or October to avoid crowds/crowded roadways and for a more mild temperature. Visiting in July is fine, but to avoid the crowds try September.
Maybe by locals. They drive pretty fast on these roads because they're used to them. As a Croatian tourist, I also can't keep up all the time when I get to these tight places, but locals will be on your butt and try to overtake you. Just try to give them the opportunity to overtake you if you can.
Croatia has more than just its fantastic coast line. Interior is easy to drive in. Coastal cities were built centuries before the cars were invented. You don't really expect them to put in the roads now, and destroy the history for commercialism... This would only happen in America, country where one can do anything and everything if you have the money. I hope Croatia doesn't become the prostitute of the E.U.
I agree, Croatia is so much more than the coast. I just really loved the coast, I'm from Arizona and landlocked, the sea calls to me. I love Croatia and plan to come back.
@@nerdgasmicadventures8700 I agree. I mean, what kind of perfectionist does someone have to be to look for English grammar mistakes in a video about driving in Croatia?

Few years ago I've read that the Jadranska Magistrala (D8 Coast-Line) is considered to be in top 30 beautiful roads to drive at in Europe.
I'm going to guess that is in the top 5. Some of the drives I've read about, that they tout as being the "best" don't hold a candle.
