Sidenote: the HDMI converter has to output 480p for the mClassic to do its job well.) anyways if you want to play Metal Gear Solid 1 with the best possible picture, you're probably gonna have to go with the PC port, emulation is cool, but why bother emulating it when there's an official PC port you can mod?
I never understood why people cared so much, honestly the only differences I see is tiny changes in gameplay mechanics, different voice acting, and a graphical upgrade. I like them both
The cutscenes are the issue, they’re just way too over the top compared to the original, and the game is a tad easy. Good remake though, it looks great graphically and plays well. Controls feel unnnatural because they’re no on a PlayStation pad but that’s not too big a deal.
I'm gonna say, the tiny changes are the differences. It's a bit long to explain through a UA-cam comment, but to me, MGS' gameplay was already outdated when the Twin Snakes was released. Don't get me wrong, MGS is one of my favourite PSX games, and one of the best games of that generation, but stealth games evolved so much in so little time that these games grew old quickly. MGS' gameplay got "outdated " (or not good enough for brand new games" when MGS2 was release for example, being so much deeper than the first. So, in my opinion, more than things like the over the top cutscenes, it's the fact that The Twin Snakes added a bit of MGS2 gameplay in a MGS1 universe. The game became unbalanced, it didn't have the same good feeling anymore. A bit like if in the remake of the Crash Bandicoot trilogy, they added the double jump in the first game. The world of MGS1 had been thought to fit its own gameplay, and when they added these "tiny changes", the game felt like, well, something didn't fit. But I understand why the developers couldn't just make a graphical update of MGS1, the game was old, the other stealth games were amazing (Hitman 2, MGS2, Deus Ex, Splinter Cell, etc.), and it wouldn't be good enough to be released in 2003 facing these games. But mixing new gameplay mechanics and old environment, something felt wrong, like out of place. They sould've updated everything, but, well, it's not that easy, far from it, that would be making a brand new game. That's why I can't really like MGS:TTS, because I still think that the best part of Metal Gear Solid : The Twin Snakes is Metal Gear Solid.
