This venus flytrap definitely had a crazy journey before it arrived at my home. It was in the mail for 11 days before finally being picked up at the post office. The A2 x Fang venus flytrap is in surprisingly good shape considering how long it's been in the Post.
It has beautiful large red traps. The old growth on the plant seems to be in decent shape. The green is a bit pale and you can tell it's been out of sunlight for way too long. The plant was still wet which is good, but also worries me it could have been subject to some crown rot. Normally, I wouldn't think this but the new growth is coming up as black.
So far no other growth is black but there is some new growth that is a pale yellow color. I'm really hoping that if I acclimate this venus flytrap to sun light over the next few days, it will be good to go. This Etsy store really has some amazing plants. The owner, who I spoke to a few times, was amazingly nice and quick to ship. The delay in shipping was 100% on the postal service as she had in the mail the day after it was ordered.

Gorgeous plant! Hope it recovers fully and the red dragon flytrap that I ordered came in the mail today! Its small but hope it comes out of shock and starts growing.
Oh man! I'd live to add a red dragon to my collection. It's on the list!
i always repot when a new plant arrived.
I typically make a judgement call on that. If it's a high quality seller and you can tell their flytraps are in really good shape, I don't see any reason to repot. It puts a lot of stress on the plant. It really just kind of depends on the seller. This seller has some really high quality plants, I'm not worried at all!
I like your Venus flytrap
Thank you!!
I ordered a fine tooth x red cultivar from the same seller. It took a while but was in good condition. I almost killed it by not acclimating it properly but it sprung back to life. Now I have two of them because it split just before dormancy.
Mine has made a full recovery and it's doing awesome now!
@@CarnivorousPlantsHub great to hear! Acclimation is the hardest step for me but once they’re acclimated it’s a cake walk
You should check out the guys from here in Texas Petflytrap and also Carnivero
I would love to do so! I've definitely came across their websites on multiple occasions. I would really like to get plants from all the sellers. Just have to keep watering that money tree in the back.
@@CarnivorousPlantsHub tell me about it lol
All things considered that plant is beautiful. One time I ordered a Drosera Tomentosa that shipped on a Friday. I didn't get it till Wednesday. It's still slowly recovering, but recovering none the less. Looks like my ceph has finally stopped its die back. I did win a bid from cccp on a Polish Dracula I am waiting on. It should be here today. This past week I was on a job and the neighbor had a ton of carnivorous plants outside. I got to talking to him and he hooked me up with 4 dresora cuttings and a few ping pullings. Anyway happy savage growing!
Yes! It's a beautiful flytrap! My Ceph doesnt look like it's going to make it. All brown now. I tried a humidity dome for a bit as a last ditch effort. I'm still giving it care, but it does not look good. I'm super bummed out. On the other hand though, the mature one I bought seems to be thriving on the window sill. Oh well, it is what it is. So lucky to run into another grower like that. How exciting!! And free cuttings/plants, heck yes!!!
@@CarnivorousPlantsHub maybe reach out to cccp and see what he says?
I might do that. We will see. I'm hoping it snaps out of it.
I read in the replies of another comment that newer windows filter out more UV more efficiently
Thankfully for my eastern European apartment, these old Soviet windows are so poor at filtering light I will probably get skin cancer if I stand by them for too long, so my flytraps should be happy on my west window lmao
Great video, I hope the plant recovered!
West facing can be iffy. Make sure that it not only has strong enough sun, but also enough of it. I recommend a minimum of 8 hours but they do better with 10 to 12 hours of direct sun. Hopefully your window stays in the sun a long time!
@Carnivorous Plants Hub yeah I heard of that, I got my flytrap thinking that the grow light I received for Christmas was strong enough. Unfortunately, it wasn't, and I got no south facing windows cause the apartment hallway is that way, so I gotta make do with either a west or east window lmao
I chose west cause there's a huge empyy field there, so it gets alot of direct sunlight that doesn't get blocked by trees or buildings. Fingers crossed!
Great video man! Keep it up!
Thank you!!
Keep up your dream of the nursery when I get older if anything I have the same dream of opening a carnivorous plant nursery have you like talked to anyone of ideas of setting up the business if anything
Yes! I've talked to a few people. It's in very early stages. I'll probably sell online before opening a full nursery, just to prove the concept of selling plants. It's going to be a journey, but I'm ready for it!
That's good I'm happy to hear
To be honest carnivorous plant hub I have my flytrap inside on my east facing windowsill and unbelievably it's still growing new trap though a lot slower but still not sagging I would never expect that
Honestly, it's not impossible to grow them in a window sill, it just really reduces the chance of success. Lots of factors like, how old the window is. Newer windows filter out more UV which is bad for the plants, some older windows hardly filter any at all. I just always recommend full sun because it gives the plant it's best chance. I'm really glad the window sill is working for you!!
If your wondering my window are probably no older than 3.5/4 years old however in Miami fl we're in zone 11 max which means especially now temperature are between 85/90 degrees Fahrenheit highest is probably around 95 F and in winter it normally in the 70s range quite rarely it's at 60 F or under
Nice Video 👍👍😎😎

Thank you!!
i never bought from this seller, i felt like their price is a bit steep.. but if every vft they sell is this size then heck it might be worth it
Prices are steep for sure. However, you get what you pay for. This is a huge mature healthy flytrap. After seeing the plant itself, the price points started to make more sense!
And yes I know it's a full sun plant however but like 4/5 traps were pretty damn crisp and just in case for next winter I want to give it a better dormancy climate indoors since I live in Miami fl where it very much a tropical Caribbean climate
Hey! If it's working it's working. Just keep an eye on it. As long as it stays healthy just keep doing what your doing!
Don't worry I knew when I was moving it inside it also meant that it came with even more responsibility in keeping a eye on it with my sarracenia judith hindle and nepenthes since my flytrap is in the same windowsill as the sarracenia and nepenthes, it's in my bedroom so it's way easier to look out for them
Plus believe it or not I'm actually 16 years old and yet I love carnivorous plants so much I know a lot more than most people on their care
♥️
I got a new 🆕 Venus flytrap
Right on, where did you get it?
