Just discovered Ur channel n gotta admit I will now be bingeing all Ur videos now lol. Ur a breath of fresh air compared to other art channels on here N Ur the most relatable!! I'm a newbie at all things art n I get so disheartened when I can't do what other watercolour artist do so easily. Uve made me look at my art in a different way ,looking forward to learning all I can from U 😊xx
Today I learnt that canvas paper was a thing, the more you know! It almost reminds me of acrylic paper, except it's thinner I love how loose your trees are, they look really fun!
Just bought two books, one A4 and the other A5 each containing 10 sheets of canvas paper each, never used it before so seeing how pleased you were with it was really great 😊👍
Have used canvas paper with acrylics and hadn’t thought about using with watercolors. Liked seeing your use of the crayons - I have to get those now.😊 fun video and thank you for sharing.
Absolutely *love* this! Really gorgeous. I also love scribble marks. I love the tree. Trees I tend to be really tight so I'll try scribbling. xD My scribbles lead me to a cartoony caterpillar eating a leaf as I watched this.
Seems awesome! I love this tree. I want one in the distance at my house to look at! I’m interested to see more and learn more. For me personally, might drive me crazy but the finished result was nice! So much to see in the future.
I’ve used canvas paper, the kind in pads, to do acrylic paintings. I think, although I’ve never tested ,that it wouldn’t “hold” the watercolor. And it would show the weave texture. Since your pad says it’s good for watercolor, I wonder if it has more absorbency than the kind I’ve used. And I notice that while the mud has texture, the tree has some smooth parts. Oh, and it’s so much fun to watch you work and hear your thought process.
It was very interesting to work on. I wasn’t sure this paper would hold the watercolor either. I really enjoyed the look it gave! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! ❤️😊👍
I used watercolors on canvas last night and they reacted the same as yours. But my canvas was a small piece like 2x2 so there wasn’t much room to play on the paper. Btw i absolutely LOVE the way this painting came out.
That’s awesome! Thanks for letting me know. It’s an interesting surface to work on. I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did by the end. I’m glad you liked the painting! I really love it too! ❤️😊👍
I’m with you on the warmup scribbles, beside… what’s the harm in it?! Especially since it can only be fun!! Loved your trees (and painting) and glad you made a cliff, that was my vote! I have worked with canvas paper and yours is exactly what it is. If you were to paint the other side, I suggest using gesso which is what’s on the front. Two coats, sanding lightly in between and remove any dust. Enjoy your videos very much Heather❤
I’m so glad you liked it! Scribble warmups are my favorite way to get the momentum. Otherwise I’ll sit there for 20 minutes and get distracted by something else. 😆 Thanks for watching and I’m so glad you enjoy the videos! ❤️😊👍
I absolutely loved how the scribbles dissolved when you added water. I have used the ruff watercolor paper and the scribbles won’t totally go away. I will be getting this paper!! Loved the tree and supper lover the clift. ❤
Thanks for another fab video. I went to an art fair last weekend and the workshop I went to used liquid watercolour on canvas paper. Got quite a blurred out picture of a landscape, it did inspire me to buy the materials so I can play more with them. It was a really fun workshop. If I remember the name of the artist I’ll drop a link to see if they have any hints and tips ☺️
Thank you so much! That would be helpful! It’s an interesting surface to work on with watercolor for sure. I’ll definitely be doing more experimenting with it. Thanks for watching! 😊👍
🤔 I never understand people using a hairdryer or equivalent to dry watercolour, I never have the issue to need to wait before continuing, at most a grab a drink go to the toilet and then I can continue already. some parts are still damp, but then I focus on a different section of the painting. 5 don't experience long waiting times.
I have found that the dry time is different on different papers. I have a lower quality mixed media sketchbook that takes forever to dry, especially if I use a lot of water. This canvas paper isn’t very absorbent, so the water takes longer to dry. I think the humidity in your climate plays a role also. I do usually take a break to let it dry naturally, but for some people that might break their creative rhythm. I guess it just depends on how you enjoy creating. I’m with you though. If I have the time, I usually let it dry on its own. It gives me time to think about what I want to do next. Thanks for watching! 😊👍
I am watching it at my lunch break 🤭 but it seems we are similar. for me it works super relaxed to let things go (I do plan beforehand with a sketch and a background reference, but choose colours on the go and might add spontaneous things) and while going I see and adjust and even correct afterwards by lifting or add white gouache to colours that happened too bright. sit back, cuddle my dog, make me some tea, or grab a snack, observe and continue. during this I never needed a hairdryer. like this hours pass and it's suddenly 8 pm and realise oops need to eat dinner and walk my dog and my dog needs dinner 🤭 sometimes my dog hints me and gets me out of that creative bubble. I am a self-taught hobby artist. I think I am at intermediate level or close to it. don't mind the 1 remaining video on my channel though, those are paper test quick illustrations in case anyone is having a looksy 🤭 but that's also due missed opportunities and support as a kid. I wanted to go to a high school that's focused on creativity and actually have serious art classes and other creative classes next to the mandatory ones, but my parents didn't let me, they said it's too far away (45 minutes with bicycle/ around 30 minutes bus), the high school I went to was 20 minutes bicycle. that's a long time ago. few years in continuing creating hit and misses still happen, but I laugh at my misses and take it as it's just not my day to be creative tomorrow another day. I always felt the affinity to draw and paint but never continued throughout my youth and young adult years until a few years ago, when I was like, it's a waste to not explore full potential in this. by the way, I like those spotted crumbled leftovers in your painting from those water soluble sticks. It gives a granulation effect. and oops I went into a storytelling 🤭 solly 🙃 thanks for replying 😊 sometimes it's fun to talk to someone who might understand the artist things. eventhough every artist can have their own ways.
No worries! I love the feedback and story time! I’m glad you didn’t give up on art making. I’ve always been crafty, but didn’t realize how much I loved painting until a few years ago. I’ve come a long way since then and I’m so glad I kept learning and trying new things. UA-cam has helped me learn so much and I’m hoping others are getting the same benefits from my videos. You’re right about the bits in the cliff. I love how it looks too!
Your scribbles are magic!😊
Thanks! 🪄😊👍

Welcome! I’m so glad you found me! I hope you enjoy your binge fest! Thank you so much for your kind words! It really means the world to me! 😊👍
Today I learnt that canvas paper was a thing, the more you know! It almost reminds me of acrylic paper, except it's thinner
I love how loose your trees are, they look really fun!
Yeah! It’s really thin but holds up well. I’m glad I gave it a try! Thanks for watching! 😊👍
You’ve inspired me to try the canvas paper I bought! Love how your tree turned out!! 😄❤
That’s great! Have fun testing it out! I really enjoyed using it. ❤️😊👍
I love your tree! Most of all I love the way you allow yourself to make changes
Thank you so much! It’s from lots of practice and making a lot of mistakes along the way. I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 😊👍
Such a fun piece! I love it! The scribbly leaves are perfect!
Thanks! I had a lot of fun with it! 😊👍
Just bought two books, one A4 and the other A5 each containing 10 sheets of canvas paper each, never used it before so seeing how pleased you were with it was really great 😊👍
That’s great! I’m glad I could share my experience with it! I hope you enjoy using as much as I do! 😊👍
All very interesting. ❤🇦🇺
Thanks for watching! ❤️😊👍
I love your videos and your art! You're one of the few that can inspire me anymore, so thank you for that! ❤
Wow! What a compliment! Thank you so much! That makes me so happy to hear! You’re very welcome! ❤️😊👍

You’re welcome! ❤️😊👍
Aaaaaawww. I love this one. X
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed making this one too! ❤️😊👍

It was such a fun experiment! I’m glad I gave it a try, because I will definitely be doing it again! Thanks for watching! 😊👍
Gotta admit, you did much better than me on that canvas stuff!
It’s a weird surface for sure! I didn’t expect it to go as well as it did. 😊👍

I’m interested to see more and learn more. For me personally, might drive me crazy but the finished result was nice!
So much to see in the future.
I want this tree in real life also! 😍👍
I like this a lot!! I may have to try this canvas paper from HL!
I’m glad you liked it! ❤️😊👍
Didn't know that paper, but it looks nice!! I love your tree, nice colors😍😍😍😍

Such a fun video, and the end result turned out so cool and pretty! I love how high up in the sky it is, it’s just so unique!
Thanks! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I really like how high up it looks also! 😊👍
this looks really cool lovely! watched fully ❤
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️😊👍

That turned out really lovely!! 🤗😍 It seemed so comfortable!! 🥰
Thanks! It was super fun and relaxing! 😊👍
@@artbyheather You're very welcome!! 🤗😍
I absolutely loved how the scribbles dissolved when you added water. I have used the ruff watercolor paper and the scribbles won’t totally go away. I will be getting this paper!!
Loved the tree and supper lover the clift. ❤
Yes! The marks dissolve completely on this canvas paper compared to other papers. I’m so glad I tried it! ❤️😊👍
I just got some woodies and stibello watercolor pencils. Going to take camping with me this week.
That sounds like a good time! I hope you enjoy using them! 😊👍
That came out great! I used canvas paper on acrylics but never tried it with watercolors. Nice work!
Thanks so much! I was surprised at how well the watercolor works on it! I never would have thought to try it, but I’m so glad I did! 😊👍
If you want a really trippy experience, try stone paper! I've used it with wet and dry media and it's unlike anything else.
I’ve heard of that! It looks like it would be trippy for sure! I’ll have to keep an eye out for it. 😊👍

I've had my canvas paper stached for approx. 10 years I think.. But never used it... Maybe I should try it!
Give it a try! It’s very interesting to use. I’m definitely going to be using it this way more! 😊👍
Which do you like better, Stabilo or Neocolor? Thinking about giving it a try but can't get both
Neocolor II. Hands down. Better quality and layering. The Woodys are fun, but a little more scratchy. 😎👍
