You will gradually get that Quran & music can’t coexist in the heart, one will suffer. Allah made it clear that that was the tool that was allowed for shaitan to use. Thru out the Years I lost a lot of my memorized Quran because of music. It even interferes with your prayers. And to be honest it’s not hard to grasp that concept. Music is something that has the power to you feel sad, happy or even full of rage. It’s not a reality it’s nothing but an illusion. Hope that helps😊
Cat Stevens has always been one of my favorite singers & I have all of his albums. I was sorry & saddened when he stepped away from music but I never believed the bad press that came after. This interview was when Yusuf returned to the USA in 2014 after 38 years. I felt I was in a beautiful dream, I was blessed to welcome him back in Boston, yes "The Peace Train was Late again, but I could not be happier !! It was magic to see him on stage in the USA again. I love this interview.
I shudder to think of the body of work this genius could have created if he stayed in the music scene as a younger man. I was introduced to his music by my roommate in 2008 and he's definitely way up there in my opinion as a prolific music creator and pioneer. Glad he's in the Hall of Fame.

I'll never forget the one and only performance I saw Cat ascend from the stage riser sitting on this stool with the most beautiful laced boots I have ever seen. This was in Lakeland Florida sometime in the early 70's. I am so very glad he came back to the music world. We have all missed him for so very long. I look forward to listening to his new music and his message of peace to the world. Carry on, Yusuf!

I guess I've been hiding under a rock. Only today, Feb. 19, 2017, have I become aware of the comments against Rushdie all those years ago. I have always loved Cat Stevens' music...the kindness and love it portrayed. I never knew about the violence that hid in his heart. I don't wish him any evil, but I honestly feel betrayed now. I'm out.
